The cottage is offered SELF CATERING. Please advise hostess / housekeeper with a realistic ETA. If you are taking a scenic trip on your way down best to factor in very busy roads in Spring/Summer as tour buses, camper vans and tractors add more time than (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) realises ( :
Logs and kindling are offered for your welcome fire but extra logs/coal/turf can be purchased at the many petrol stations en route, or alternatively can be bought from the hostess.
Please advise on departure if there have been any breakages or loss of property ):
Please arrange with hostess for exchange of the keys prior to departure.
Check out time is strictly 11am ( to facilitate housekeeper for subsequent bookings)
As with any SC accommodation, really late evening arrivals, unless previously highlighted cause unnecessary difficulties and expense for either the hostess or housekeeper.

Please do not use metal utensils on non stick frying pans :-(

A very homey spot to stay on a rainy day. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and plenty of room for our adult family of 6. Right on the Ring of Kerry - couldn't beat the view!

Super cute on the outside and beautiful views, but too windy to really enjoy outside. Although the family room was cozy, there were several annoying things.. Like not being able to shower in master bathroom downstairs and upstairs at the same time, which wasn't feasible with 2 families. Add to it that there was no hot water in third bath during our stay, it made it frustrating. You are responsible for burning trash and taking recycles into town. The washer and dryer were not efficient and lengthy to use. There was a lengthy message from owner prior to check in, with rules and how to use hot water in different rooms, etc.

Response from Maureen:
In response to Sara's complaints: the cottage was built in the 1890's with all the plumbing/ electrical and modernisation taking place bit by bit since 1997. The old Celtic ambience of the interior has been preserved at great cost but the recent addition of electric showers etc is the price you pay for modern conveniences in such a beautiful place. It is definitely NOT a 5 star hotel - nor have I ever misrepresented it as such. It is an old renovated cottage with lots of charm and the odd quirk. Not the show stopper that has been outlined...BTW - the reason the oil showers did not work was because previous clients drained all the oil from the tank by leaving the controls on CONSTANT ON which I had asked them not to do - this caused an airlock in the system and the refilling of the tank on a Bank Holiday weekend. Again- my home not a hotel !!!!!

Beautiful location with amazing views. Very attractive welcoming cottage with lovely sitting room/kitchen. We paid a premium price for this house which would have been fine had we experienced premium accommodation. The beds and bedding were outdated and uncomfortable and when we showered, water came down through the ceiling into the kitchen. Additionally, only one shower in an en-suite in one bedroom had hot water which was not convenient given that we were 8 adults. For 886 euro for just two nights, we simply expected a bit more.

An absolutely beautiful property and the perfect base to explore Kerry. The kitchen/living room area is perfect for entertaining, and the underfloor heating kept the house cosy. The view from the front of the house is magnificent. Although there is no WiFi, the phone signal was very good in case you need to stay in touch with the outside world!

We were a group of ladies ranging in age from my 34 year old niece, to us "50-ish" sisters, to my 77 year old Mom & her twin sister. It was perfectly Irish with its thatched roof and stone exterior. The large, open kitchen-dining-living area was just right for our girls get away. We lit a fire both nights, but the heated, tiled floors felt amazing any time of day. Seven of us were able to easily move around while preparing breakfast, having coffee or wine, or playing a game of cards - with no neighbors to complain about the noise! There were more beds than we could have slept in, the 2 I tried very comfortable! If you are particular about your pillow you probably already travel with yours. Down comforters and quilts on every bed. Maureen's art work everywhere, it was beautifully decorated. Three bathrooms were a nice treat, too. We were there for 2 nights, and spent our full day driving to the ferry at Valencia, and the Skellig Ring, and completed the Ring of Kerry next day.

Magic. It truly was such a special experience and Maureen cares very much that you are comfortable and happy. The views over the ocean are phenomenal and watching the sun set is so cool. The cottage is in a designated dark zone so if there aren't clouds you can see great stars. Also the water tastes amazing. One final note, the art around the house is so cool. I loved the experience of being in the home of an artist. Absolutely book this cottage.
