No smoking please. Where my husband comes from, shoes are removed before entering a home, we ask that you practice this custom while you are staying with us and thank you kindly. We hope you love New York!
We had an utterly brilliant time at Katie and Rafet's. The apartment is perfectly located in Chelsea-we walked everywhere though there were numerous subway stops around. The apartment itself is a perfect mix of character (high ceilings etc) and modern comforts (gorgeous bathrooms and a modern kitchen). Katie replied to all our questions and we felt at home straight away. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, especially families with children. It's a haven!
A fabulous apartment (you know you are in New York the moment you open the door) in a great location. You can walk to Time Square or the West Village in 20 minutes, and several Subway lines are right around the corner. As hosts Katie and Rafet were really helpful, and kept in touch to make sure everything went well. The photos don't even do justice to the apartment - for example they don't show the new built in Queen size bunk beds (which my daughters absolutely loved).
We had a great time in New York, and staying in Katie's apartment made it really special.
We had a very pleasant experience, staying at Katie's place. It was exactly what we saw on the Airbnb, very comfy, bright and spacious. Loved the neighbourhood. Very convenient, great places to eat, Whole Foods right around the corner, walking distance to (email hidden)d more.
We are a family with 3 adults and two small children (3 yo, 9mo) who spent two weeks in this beautifully decorated and very spacious apartment. Our host family went out of their way to make our stay even more comfortable. Very responsive, helpful and anticipating every wish, like arranging a cleaning lady and nanny. The location is well-connected by city bike, subway or taxi.
The ultimate place for small children: spacious, lots of toys and childproof. This creative and playful loft was a peaceful oasis in hectic NYC. The hosts warm and welcoming. We found our ultimate place in NYC! Thank you Katie and Rafet!
The 5days we spent in this loft were fabulous. The apartment is very convenient for a family (we were 4, 2adults and 2teenagers). The view is wonderfull and the terrace amazing !
Rafet welcomed us and explaîned everything we needed to know .
He also gave us some great adresses and allowed us to stay in the apartment later on departure day.
We highly recomend this loft, perfect location .
My Design Innovation Team and I spent a incredible week in this beautiful home. It's the perfect sanctuary with a warm wonderfully talented design. The welcoming family have crafted each and every detail of the home to make it a joy to spend time in.
Partly sweet, but a lot of sour.
Our key problem was the lack of communication from Katie after we paid our money in July (for a 2 week stay over Christmas and New Year). Numerous emails, phone messages on 4 different numbers, still remain unanswered today. Truly unbelievable and VERY stressful!
We were scheduled to arrive on Christmas Eve from Australia, and it wasn't until a few days before that we were given any information about how to to get into the apartment if we were delayed. Once we got in the door (delayed a lot as it turned out), things got worse. We know this is Airbnb, but even so, the apartment looked like the owners had just stepped out for a moment, and left everything pretty much where it was, and in the state it was. No provision whatsoever had been made for us hang/put away any of our clothes - every drawer, wardrobe and hanger was completely full (remember this was a 2 week stay); 2 potties were plonked right in front of the toilets in BOTH bathrooms, together with a rich assortment of rubber duckies and other toys crowding the bathtub; NO instructions of any kind were provided to operate the heating, lighting, TV, ovens, any of the appliances, or indeed for anything else you need to do in a 2 week stay, like disposing of garbage and recyclables, replacing the drinking water, etc. There was also, inexplicably for a home of this quality and price, no toaster, no microwave, no DVD or CD player, and a system so byzantine to get TV or music playing (only from an iPhone) that we mostly gave up. After a LOT of fiddling around, we managed to get the odd-numbered channels on the TV to work, and, after we contacted Airbnb with our complaints, our hosts had a second hand DVD player delivered, but even this - with no manual and no remote - could not be induced to work. The housekeeper was scheduled to come in to clean the place after the first week too, but even she was a no-show, turning up (early this time) only on the day of our departure, and only to move in a bunch of bags and groceries and take over the kitchen to cook lunch for the hosts!
We had read previous reviews of the apartment, and they seemed fine - so why did we get such shabby treatment? Perhaps our hosts aren't used to long stays such as ours, and our experience speaks to the difference that makes in what's needed - and expected - by the guest, but whichever way you look at it, this was not acceptable service for the money paid. On a brighter note, the apartment itself is lovely, the location's great, the coffee machine is spectacular, and the views of the Empire State are lovely at night.
Thank you so much for your feedback. Since your stay we've updated our Audio Visual system with a no fuss remote and accessible movie library. As for getting back to you Peter, I called you in Australia and texted you frequently to respond to your many concerns. Regarding storage there were three empty drawers open for your use as well as ample hanging space in the master bedroom, but the second bedroom did not have hanging space so we have ameliorated this for our next guests and have since moved our spring clothes to storage. Thanks again for your insights. Lastly, there is no housekeeping included in the Airbnb stay, one must arrange that separately and you emailed me that it would not be necessary, so I'm not sure why you thought that a cleaner would come any time other than check in and check out which is customary. That our housekeeper made us lunch after your noon checkout when we invited you to stay until 5pm so you wouldn't have to get to the airport early for your late flight is true. We had to feed our 2 year old son and we invited you and your wife and eat with us. So sorry there was too much sourness we really tried to please you.
