The house is located on a peaceful place, just below of Cortona. The view is beautiful no matter where you look at. The access to the surrounding town and attractions are easy as once you’ve found this place, you can easily navigate everywhere in Cortona and its neighborhood. You are literarily living under the Tuscan sun, inside an olive garden that has a lot of nice places to sit and just enjoy the view, or lie down and read a good book. There’s also a pool where you can dip yourself into if it’s too hot to just sit in the sun.
Nella, the host was very friendly and helpful from the beginning. She and her husband helped us to settle and had prepared a welcome pie and a basket for us, which was a very nice and welcoming gesture.
To say it was hard to find this place would be an understatement. Our GPS did not find it, any map did not find it…the only way we found it was with the Google map’s satellite photo. We knew we were close, but just couldn’t find the exact location without some serious Google help. However, when we found the place, it was so worth it!
Everything was as advertised except for the fact that she left homemade apricot pie, milk, juice, breakfast fixings and met us later than we had originally scheduled. The place was lovely with a great view. The 2 bedroom suite was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer.
May family stayed in the lower level apartment of this agriturismo in late June and we had a fantastic experience! We all agreed we wished that we had more time to stay here longer, as Cortona is a beautiful city to explore (with many nice restaurants), and the apartment is a great central location for visiting other cities if you have a car (Siena, Florence, etc). Rita was a fantastic hostess, the apartment was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The pool was a great place to relax and it has a great view of the Tuscan countryside. If you decide to prepare your own meals, there is a grocery store (in Camucia) within 10 minutes drive.
My family (5 adults) rented the ground level apartment at Il Torrino for ten days to use as our base to explore Tuscany, and we're very glad we did. The location is great (very close to Cortona and Camucia), with easy access to buses and the train station. Our hosts, Rita and Alessandro, were incredibly warm, generous, and helpful, picking us up at the train station upon arrival, and dropping us there again on departure day, with a couple of other trips in between (we didn't have a car). We were thrilled to receive a welcome basket on our first morning filled with lots of lovely treats, including a delicious apricot tart and plum jam made by Rita, from fruit picked in her garden.
The house is very clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, and the pool is fabulous. The views are amazing, with the valley and town of Camucia below the house, and Cortona perched on the mountainside above.
The bus stop is 3 minute walk away, close to the bottom of the driveway. It's a 7 minute bus ride up the hill to Cortona, and about the equivalent to the train station in Camucia.
We would love to have spent more time relaxing at the villa, but with so much to see in the area, we were kept very busy. The time we did spend there was blissful. We would definitely go back.
We loved staying at Rita's property. The pool was wonderful to come home to after a day out and so was Rita's great baking. The house was so handy to Cortona - outside the city wall but still with a lovely view down to the plain below and other villages. It was also handy to supermarkets in Camucia. We visited Sienna, Florence (by train), Montepulcciano etc it was very convenient. Rita and Alessandro kept the property beautifully.
Nice apartment. Very friendly hosts!
Not in cortona proper, but our hosts took us to the market & waited while we shopped.
