Originally my girlfriend was worried about the open concept of the villas. Mainly the threat of Mosquitos but this was one of the only places where we did not get bitten. It was also very nice and relaxing to listen to the local wildlife during the night.
The villas were cleaned every day and the staff were very friendly, accommodating any requests we had such as scooter hire or a slight change in the menu.
The restaurant food was delicious but if you're feeling a change, local restaurants are scattered nearby, all serving great local food.
The private villas are in a perfect location to experience the "real Bali". Sidemen is commonly described as "ubud before the tourists came" and that's exactly what it was. Beautiful green rice fields and incredible friendly locals. If you like travelling off the beaten track and actually experiencing Balinese culture and scenery, this is the place to go! Forget the typical tourist strips of ubud, Denpasar and Sanur selling the same tacky souvenirs at inflated prices. Visit Bali instead!
The room we stayed is located in a small resort in sidemen. Clean and very nice. We really enjoyed our stay here, there is no traffic sound, just the really noisy insects and geckos which is more good than bad :) the restaurant is not the best but there is not really an alternative nearby. Breakfast was good. We rented a motorbike which ones the staff brings direct to the parking lot. We explored sidemen down to padang Bay which is really a steep road but really great if you are used driving a scooter. The prices of the activities are quite high compared to other places (cooking class about 600000 I think). All in all, it's a nice resort at the small river with a nice pool and friendly staff!
Excellent place with very friendly staff. The bungalow was perfectedly integrated in the surroundings. Beautiful and peaceful environment. Nice trekking with the guide through the ricefields.
Wonderful small houses in the middle of the jungle in the heart of the beautiful and not too touristic region of Sidemen. A really relaxing and inspiring place. Most of the houses have two terrasses, one of the two on top of a small river. Wayan was perfectly available to help arranging everything. Warmly recommended.
Darmada eco resort has beautiful surroundings, next to the river. The rooms are big and the bathroom is beautiful outside. It's possible to book tours and rent a scooter to see the area in sidemen. The food is well cooked. We had a lovely stay in darmada resort.
I stayed at Darmada Eco Resort (the name of this property) with my sister for two nights in May 2015.
The most striking thing about the property is how well integrated it is with the jungle. The developers did a wonderful job of maintaining the existing stream and trees and just building the villas into this space.
Some of our favorite things were: the open-air bathrooms, falling asleep to the sound of water, the very modest price of the rooms, and the front and back terraces for lounging.
That said, there were a few drawbacks. First, there is no wifi. For us, this was a huge drawback, as we had a few important things to take care of, and ended up spending most of our time at another hotel in order to access wifi. This meant that the nice loungey space on our front and back terraces went all but unused. Second, the villas are paired duplex-style so that you will be sharing one rather thin wall with another set of guests. In our case, said guests were... an active couple and we found ourselves wishing the frogs and crickets were a bit louder. Third, we found the response pace of the host to be a bit slow, both before and during our stay. We had questions beforehand that took several days to answer, and while staying, we ran into an evening lack-of-ride-home issue for which our calls went unanswered.
In summary, nice simple rooms well-integrated with the surrounds at a bargain price, but a lack of wifi and attentive service means I probably won't stay again (however, that shouldn't stop you!).
Thank you for your support.
We do understand this time almost everyone can not live without wifi.
But that make our place different. we apologies for less our service during your staying at our place. we learn and do our best for better quality of service.
