Stay & Play in Zilker - We're fun!

House - Entire home/apt · Linscomb Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, United States

The Space

If you want to see the best of Austin, you've come to the right place. We live in one of the best neighborhoods in the city which is within walking distance to Zilker Park (home of ACL) and Barton Springs Pool. But our accommodation goes beyond location. We know how to have fun and to make sure you do too!

The short: Our house is huge. It's a dream location where you can walk or bike everywhere. The backyard is the best with an outdoor ping pong table, multiple hammocks, outdoor patio furniture, a slack line, a big picnic table, a BBQ grill, perfect grass, a croquet set, an adult trampoline, and an outdoor shower!

Looking for a deal? We will negotiate a discount if you let us keep the garage. We love our toys and give a discount on full house rentals if we get to keep the garage!

We have done AirBnB for two years and recently moved to this house with you in mind. Check out our 70 reviews and rest assured that we are completely legal with the City of Austin. We have alot of bikes that come with the rental too! Check with us to reserve bicycles for your stay.

A special note about Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL): You can walk to the front gate in less than 5 minutes, or coast a bike down the hill without ever peddling, not even once! It does not get better than this!

Attractions & restaurants within walking distance: Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Zilker Botanical Gardens, The Greenbelt, Chuy's restaurant, Uncle Billy's Bar and Grill, Baby Acapulco's restaurant, Thom's Market, Daily Juice, Austin Java, Flipnotic's coffee shop, Green Mesquite BBQ, and much more!

You can easily bike anywhere else in the city, and most of the times you can get there by biking the protected bike trail along the downtown river. The trails are safe, scenic, and fun.

The convention center is 1.9 miles away and is accessible by the bike trail system.

The Whole Foods Flagship Grocery store is 1.3 miles away. It is good for people who like to eat healthy. Its a grocery store but it also has several eat-in options as well.

Now, I'll go into more detail about the property:
Our living area is spacious. We have a fully stocked kitchen, three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a 2 door garage. We also have a trundle bed in the living area that provides a real bed for groups of 7 or 8. The backyard is massive and totally enclosed by a privacy fence.

Now for the PLAY part: We have a tons of toys and we don't mind sharing. Think of us as local guides and not just someone who passes you the key. We would love for you to borrow our kayaks or canoe, and you must ride our bikes around the town lake trail. For those who really like the play, I would love to take you scuba diving the spring water just down the hill, or you can borrow our snorkel gear and use it at Barton Springs. We also have golf clubs and disc golf frisbee's we wouldn't mind letting you borrow if you ask. The outdoor ping pong table even has it's own lighting so you can play after dark. I'm ok with letting you borrow a few things, but please do not try to fly my Paramotor!

If you would rather have a chill night, we have a huge TV with the Apple TV box that lets you project your iphone, ipad, or macbook onto the screen or play your music through our speakers - all wirelessly!

We can also help you find: good mountain biking trails, some spelunking, hiking trails, a place to surf the river, the best lookouts, secret springs, and alot more. Search "Aaron Guidehop" to see where I give other people local tours of outdoor adventures.

If you need a rental car, we have those too! We rent using a site called relay rides. I bet you can find my convertibles on there. We also have motorcycles and scooters. One has a sidecar!

We also rent by the room occasionally so if you do not need the entire house, see our other listings.

The bottom line: We live in huge house in the perfect neighborhood. You can ride our bikes anywhere you need to go and we will go out of our way to make sure you enjoy your time in Austin. What are you waiting for.... come Stay & Play!

Caution: If you are looking at multiple places to stay in Austin, ask if the other hosts have their short term rental license from the city of Austin. If they do not, they are illegal. This is problematic because Austin is cracking down on illegal rentals and unfortunately that means your reservation could be cancelled last minute. This is especially the case when the people you rent from do not own the house.

  • *YES* - that's your answer if you're thinking about staying with Aaron in Austin.

    Pros:
    - Big house with *tons* of space to spread out, play games in the back yard, or just have space to yourself if you want to relax.
    - Very safe and quiet neighborhood - I'm a light sleeper, but I had no problem getting my Zs here.
    - Really close to everything: It's just a mile or so to campus or downtown Austin, but you don't have to deal with the traffic/noise once you head home for the day.

    Biggest Pro:
    - Aaron and his roommates rock. They gave me recommendations for food to eat, trails to explore, and we even went frisbee golfing on a perfect 80-degree Austin day. I've stayed at a dozen or so AirBnb places over the years, and I've never had such great hosts.

    Cons:
    - None! Well, it did hail the last day I was in town, which I totally blame on Aaron :)
    - Seriously, no cons. This stay was awesome.

In summary: Whether you're just looking to relax in a safe/quiet place, or you want to really dive into the Austin scene with a new group of friends - this place is for you.

Thanks Aaron/everyone for a great time in ATX!

  • The fun house was just that- a very fun house! Although we only stayed one night, it was the perfect accommodation. Plenty of space for 7 of us to sleep comfortably, easy access to the city and plenty of toys to play with :). Aaron was a fabulous host and worked with us when we had to delay our checkout. I highly recommend staying at Aaron's stay and play in Zilker!

  • Staying at Aaron's place was nothing short of fantastic. He's a great host and communicates well. The house and room were very clean, absolutely no complaints. The location is hard to beat.

  • 3 Friends and I had an outstanding time during the 2013 Grand Prix. This house is perfect: spacious, full of light, very clean, super comfortable with everything you need and more. The Garden is very spacious and even have a trampoline, a PingPong table, 2 Hammocks...
Perfectly located in a lovely neighborhood, walking distance to the park and the river while super close to downtown.
I don't think we could have found a better place to stay to enjoy Austin even if I wish we would have had more time to use all the fun gears Aaron and his friends have in their garage: Bikes, Kayaks, etc....

  • The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • This was the perfect home for our group of 9. Everything was exactly as described and Aaron and Darby were great hosts. The neighborhood was nice and quiet but nearby to Barton Springs, Zilker Park and a quick cab ride to downtown. There was plenty of space and privacy with the three main bedrooms and the fourth den/bedroom. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Austin.

  • I came down with a group of 14 guys to throw a bachelor party for the weekend. Honestly I could not have asked for a better setup in a house. The house was PERFECT for a big get together, and Aaron was excellent. He was very easy to communicate with and really took care of us. I would stay here again and again.

  • Aaron made our first experience using Airbnb amazing! He is friendly, nice, cool, and getting in touch of him is super easy when we had questions. The house is a great place to stay and our group of nine had enough room to be comfortable! The neighborhood is really safe, quiet, close to downtown and the water. The house has a lot to offer for active people. We ended up renting the mopeds for the weekend which was a lot of fun cruising around the city. I wish we could have used all the other things the house has to offer but we were there for MotoGP, so did not have time to enjoy everything the house had to offer!

    Thanks for everything!

  • A group of us travel to Austin each year to do swim training for long open water events starting in June. It is a great venue with loads of swim sites. The house was centrally located.

We needed a place that could accommodate athletes. This was the place! Aaron, the owner, was very quick to respond to all inquiries. Had everything in place, on time. The house was neat and clean. Loads of sports stuff on site: bikes; a trampoline; PFDs which we needed for the boats. Hammocks. It was just what we needed and so close to Deep Eddy you could ride a bike or walk.

We are likely to return. I have only one observation which is not a negative. It is well-suited for active visitors. If you plan to sit around to watch golf all weekend then you might be bothered by noise from trains or the highway. We turned the TV (the biggest flat screen I've ever seen) on just once as we were leaving, to make sure it worked.

  • We are a community theatre group from the UK and came to Austin to perform in a festival here in March. There were 8 of us staying, and there was plenty of room for us all. The house was clean and welcoming and we were quickly able to settle into the place. Communication prior to the visit was excellent, Aaron was easy to reach and and made sure we had all the information we needed. We loved the hammocks and the trampoline, and were only sorry that we didn't get to spend much time at the house enjoying these outdoor facilities. It was a relaxed place to stay and in a very convenient situation for us. The late night train noises were a surprise on the first night but we quickly got used to them. I would stay there again.

About
Hi, my name is Aaron. I teach high school in Austin and live right in the middle of all the action. I have been hosting on AirBnB for about two years now and I love it. I love travel and adventure and i'm always excited about something. One thing you should know about me is that I never stop. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day for me. Around Austin, I like to: kayak, scuba dive, surf the river, play unicycle football, host island parties, ride my mountain bike and so much more. I'd love to have you tag along if you are up for that kind of activity. During my school holidays, I travel. I've been to more than 40 countries and usually get around via hitchhiking. Some of my favorite places are: New Zealand, Cuba, Laos, Spain, Costa Rica & Switzerland. I recently went on a kayaking excursion through Mexico and snowboard as much as possible in Colorado. I went to the Olympics in London recently and plan to go to the World Cup in 2014. I believe that a world traveler is the ideal host. I want to make sure you have the best time possible. For me, air bnb is a lifestyle. I like to make sure our guests get the best Austin experience by inviting them to come along on my adventures and live like a local. The best guests are the ones who accept an invitation to join my friends and I and have a few travel stories of their own to share. My listings are different than most because I'm going to show half photos of my house and then some photos of my favorite things to do in Austin. You can find a comfy bed anywhere on AirBnB, but you should choose me if you want the best insights into outdoors activities in Austin, especially if you are looking for someone to show you those places and provide any gear necessary. If you want to see what type of fun we could have around Austin, use any search engine and type in the words aaron guidehop to see my profile. its a similar service to airbnb except for local tours and activities rather than accommodation.
