About this listing
Beautiful apartment in a 1910s style villa. Entirely renovated in a rustic style with original furniture. Fully renovated kitchen with dishwasher and utensils. Spacious and sunny family room. The two bedrooms are furnished with gorgeous pieces, with incredible vistas on the city of Cortona and the Tuscan countryside. The house is breezy and very pleasant. All the rooms have amazing vistas. Outside the house there is an incredible garden available to the guests, with a table to dine and chairs to relax. Close to the house there is a little deli and an affordable restaurant with incredible view.
We just added a tiny but very, very cute swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. From it, you can gaze at the Tuscan countryside, see the beautiful town of Cortona in the distance. You can relax while waiting for the day to cool off before visiting the numerous Tuscan villages nearby the apartment.
Parking is available. Upon arrival, you will find Enzo Moretti waiting for you for the keys. Breakfast will be served to you with pastries from the family bakery, pasticceria Banchelli, an historic pastry shop inaugurated by the Banchelli family in 1939 in down town Cortona. The town is 3.5 miles away. A car is necessary to visit the nearby area. Buses are available with a bus stop right outside the garden but not too frequent over the summer. Numerous path to walk are available around the house. Enzo will be happy to show them to you. Villa Le More is in an incredible location, away from the crowded streets of Florence, Siena and Roma, yet close to them enough to take day trips. The train station of Terontola is very close (1.5 miles) and offers affordable train rides to Florence (6.7 euros one way), and to Rome (8 euros one way).

Formidable accueil d'Enzo et Mirella.
La maison correspond exactement à l'annonce. L'on s'y sent comme chez nous!
Ossaia est un village accueillant, où vous trouverez de très bons produits régionaux!
We loved our stay at La More Casa in Ossaia with Enzo and Mirella. They are the perfect hosts. They made our stay in the Tuscan Sun a dream come true. La More Casa is located just a few minutes below Cortona. We stayed at La More the month of June and loved every minute. Enzo and Mirella were kind enough to introduce us to several of their local friends which added to the enjoyment of our stay. Our stay at La More was very comfortable and had all the conveniences. The kitchen was very well equipped for the times we cooked and even had a dishwasher. The bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of room for storage. The washing machine made it great for doing our laundry and there was a great gated parking space. The garden is full of beautiful flowers and trees and seating for enjoying beautiful views while relaxing. There is even a swimming pool if you want to take a refreshing swim. The location is convenient for shopping at nearby supermarkets, visiting the weekly local markets in Camucia and Cortona, and, of course, visiting all the beautiful towns in Tuscany and Umbria. It is also very close to the train station where you can park your car for free and ride the train to Rome and/or Florence and any other place. I could write forever about this great place, location and our stay but I will let you read all the other great reviews, which is how we choose to stay at La More. In summary, we LOVED our stay.
I was fortunate to stay here for two months, and the experience was absolutely wonderful! Enzo and Mirella are the perfect hosts, and made me feel so welcome and comfortable. They greeted me upon my arrival with wine, groceries and homemade jam, making me feel welcomed right away. The villa is wonderful - spacious bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, good bathroom, and fantastic sun and views from the windows. The yard is great with places to sit and relax, lounge chairs and beautiful flowers. The villa has great amenities - a washer, wifi, coffeemakers, private parking and more. It's conveniently located next to a convenience store and a great restaurant. The villa is located in Ossaia, which is just a few miles from the town of Cortona. Ossaia has fantastic walking paths and very friendly residents. Cortona is a great town with lots of restaurant options, shopping, delicious gelato and wine, piazzas, museums and churches. The area is centrally located in Tuscany and there are many good day trips to a lot of other great towns and wine regions. For several weeks of my stay I didn't have a car, and Enzo and Mirella were so kind to give me rides to Cortona, the train station, grocery shopping, etc. They invited me into their home for meals, which made me feel so special and was my favorite part of my visit to Italy. They're both incredibly kind and welcoming, and will make you feel right at home. I highly recommend this villa and this area, and am already dreaming of my return trip.
What a wonderful stay. We loved the location and all of the surounding area/towns. Enzo was such a gracious host and the apartment was larger that we thought. We considered it a great value and would consider returning with friends.
Enzo’s place is right on State Road Number SR71 and get off SR71 once you see Ossaia sign and then look for the house number. It is 5 kms south from Cortona centro. The Highway Route Numbers in Italy are written in small font size under Highway Route Name.
While we arrived at the Enzo’s place with our rental car, the gate was open to let us drive right into the roofed parking lot. Enzo came right out from the house next door to greet us and took us to the apartment at the second floor and walked us through the apartment. He asked our itinerary during our stay and shared with us places we could visit. Then, Enzo’s wife showed up to greet us as well. We all had a good chat even if we don’t speak with each other’s language well. During our conversation, Enzo wrote down the name and address of a pastry and coffee shop in Cortona Centro on his business card. Initially, we thought that it is the place where Enzo recommended us to have pastries and tea; we checked online, it seems like a highly recommended place to stop. We went there on the last day we were in the area for breakfast yet couldn’t find it. That night when Enzo came to say farewell to us and about check-out procedure for next day morning, we mentioned it to him and he gave us the detail instructions for how to get there. While we stopped there before we left for Florence, we got a surprise free treat for what we ordered after we showed Enzo’s business card.
Enzo made us feel so welcome. I found out the hair dryer didn’t work on one of nights after I washed my hair and emailed Enzo next day morning before we went out for the day. Enzo replied the email and apologized for he was not aware of it. To show his sincere apology, he left us a bottle of red wine with a brand new hair dryer at the front door of apartment. Enzo also let us know we could check out anytime we wanted on our check-out day since we were their last renters for 2014.
The apartment has two bedrooms and each room has a queen size bed. Kitchen and dining room are large compared to the other 6 places we have stayed on the trip. There are supermarkets right on State Road SR71 close to Cortona and a restaurant next door. It has all we need and we enjoyed our stay.
Enzo was a fantastic host - helpful and available if needed but never intrusive. He even sent us away with some delicious pastries for our long drive from Tuscany to Milan. The house is a bit off the beaten path, but it's easy to access an array of sites from the main road and there's a decent pizza place just two doors away if you feel like eating in for a night.
About the Host, Enzo
I am a retired regional council manager who decided to devote his spare time to restore old furniture and I have a garden. I also spend a lot of time in the organic vegetables and fruits garden adjacent to our home. All the guests at our apartment have tasted my delicious cuore di bue tomatoes, my fried zucchini flowers, and the peaches of my trees. I am also very involved in keeping Cortona green, and I am at the head of committee against the opening of a polluting palm oil plant (Centrale per l'olio di palma).
My wife Mirella and I have been married for 31 years, and have four daughters. Erica lives in US and teaches at Mount Holyoke College. Lucia studies cinema in Roma. Laura and Silvia are in Florence studying respectively economics and medicine. They are all somewhat involved in the summer house.
We look forward to meeting you all in person at our summer house.
