Well-kept, uncluttered, clean, roomy house in quiet residential neighborhood, less than ten minutes from downtown/UNC campus. Beautifully furnished, including an upright piano, sound system, and other extras. From the large kitchen window you are likely to watch deer hanging out in the rear garden... Daniel’s place was great! Super comfy like home, clean, stylish, interesting (anthropology artifacts from around the world), private, convenient, etc. what really stood out though was Daniel’s willingness to help - he spoke with me at length before we arrived about the area and m…

PROS: Beautiful, safe, shaded neighborhood, park with hiking trails just a block or two away. Driveway for off street parking, enough for two cars though not side by side. Easy self-check in. Host (Daniel) was very communicative both through texting and voice phone calls. Lots of…

Response from Daniel:
Dear Randall, I am glad that for the most part you enjoyed your stay. With regard to the other issues you mention, first of all I wish you had told me during your stay about the Wifi. No one else has mentioned any problem before, and I would have been very happy to have looked into that for you. (Note: some other people have been staying for over a week since your departure, and have just told me that the Wifi has worked perfectly.) About the TV, yes occasionally the antenna can get moved slightly by some wind in the attic. This normally only happens once or twice during the year, and once again I would have been very happy to have rectified that issue for you, if you had informed me. About the bite your wife received, once again I am truly very sorry about that. I have been renting the house to many people over the past four years and this is the first time that anyone has experienced this. (And FYI my online search just now suggests that cockroach bites are extremely rare; I'd never even heard of that, and spider bites are also quite rare in this area. I have an entomologist colleague here, and when I asked him he said "I'm 99% sure it was a mosquito bite." (Normally there aren't mosquitos inside the house, but occasionally guests leave the doors open during the summer, etc...) In any case, once again I'm sorry you had to experience that type of discomfort. If you look at my other reviews, no one else has ever complained about insects (including cockroaches). I believe that what probably occurred is that, as I have since learned, the previous guests had a young child and were concerned about the roach traps that had been placed (way under the furniture, presumably out of childrens' reach) yet they removed the traps, which unfortunately apparently led to their appearance soon after your arrival... Once again, I'm truly very sorry for the less positive aspects of your guest experience. With all my guests, it is always of my upmost concern to assure the maximum of comfort, safety, and overall satisfaction. Sincerely, Daniel

Daniel was a most gracious host! His home was perfect for our family of 5 adults and 3 children. We appreciated his tips on the area, particularly the American Tobacco Trail, perfect for a nice bike ride. The kids were thrilled when they saw a herd of deer pass thru his backyard…
