Charming Canal House in the Jordaan

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Lijnbaansgracht, Amsterdam, North Holland 1015, Netherlands

The Space

Welcome to wonderful Amsterdam! A home away from home awaits you.

Our three level, traditional Dutch canal house is situated in the Jordaan on a lovely and quiet canal, close to the main attractions (you can travel there on the bikes which are included!) but also immersed in local Amsterdam life.

The apartment is spacious and bright (95sqm), with dual aspect and sun all day from either the back or the front. All of the floors have nice views of the canal and neighbourhood.

The second floor (entry) features a luxury kitchen with a top range oven and stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and all the cookware you might need, as well as washer and dryer. An open dining area connects, with a lovely view on the canal. In addition, there is a full bathroom/wet room.

The third floor has two open living spaces, with a king sofa bed and a full bathroom with bath. There is flat screen TV, countless DVDs, a stereo and lots of books available for your entertainment (plus a desk if you really need to get work done!).

The top floor is the master suite with a spacious bedroom with a king size bed on hand made raised platform. Off this, there is a large balcony with tables and chairs, overlooking the rooftops of Amsterdam. Step out to enjoy a glass of wine, meal or just a little relaxation and fresh air.

The house is in a desirable location, only a quick stroll (or quicker bike ride!) to top attractions, such as the Anne Frank house and the '9 streets' for shopping. Or, for a feel of local life, food and treats, the lively Saturday market at Noordermarkt is only 2 minutes walk. In addition, the house is very near some of Amsterdam's best restaurants, bars and nightlife, beautiful parks and outdoor spaces.

We are happy to help with restaurant and travel recommendations for the area and have several books on Amsterdam and Europe available for your use.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

  • The house was fantastic and exactly as described. Spotlessly clean everywhere. The kitchen is very well stocked -- made it really easy to grab groceries at the market down the street. Not many houses here have dishwashers and laundry machines in-house, so consider yourself lucky.

The neighborhood is great. If you've not been to Amsterdam before, walking from there to there doesn't take nearly as long as it would appear on the map. It's quite compact. Plus, you're 2 blocks from the 18/21 buses directly to Centraal Station. Within 2 blocks in the other direction are restaurants, bars, grocery, liquor stores, shops, salons, etc.

The only tip I have is the same I read before going -- and I didn't think too much about it because I wasn't sure what it meant. This is a charming canal house, and with that comes very narrow and steep stairs. Don't let this turn you off; just think through how you pack. My large suitcase was a challenge, and I wanted it in the bedroom on the 5th floor. My suggestion is that you pack half your things within a laundry bag or something so that you can remove half your belongings when you arrive, and haul those up on your back. Then your suitcase is only half-weight. That's how I got my bag back down, and it was pretty quick and easy.

The check-in manager lives on the 2nd floor and is very friendly and responsive. And quite; I never heard a peep.

This is a great way to spend a week in Amsterday!

  • Absolutely loved our stay in Misti's apartment. We were met at the property by the check in manager who was very helpful and gave us the grand tour. The apartment was well kept and clean and was exactly to our taste. The location was perfect as it was in walking distance to the centre of Amsterdam but was also quiet in the evening/night time. We would definitely stay at the apartment again.

  • A beautifully charming canal house! We are so happy that we chose to stay here. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Matthijs (who was very nice and helpful) and a bottle of wine, which is always a nice touch :) My husband and I have stayed in quite a few places through Airbnb and this is definitely one of our favorites for its character and location. We felt like locals living in Amsterdam! Highly, highly recommend it!

  • We had such a great time in Amsterdam and it was made even more special by having Misti's gorgeous canal house as our base. It is inviting, comfortable, well presented and had everything we needed. Being a group of 5 girls meant we utilised all the available bed space and all 5 were very well rested. the location is fab, in the middle of the Jordaan area. So slightly out of the busy area of the city but close enough to walk everywhere. It meant you had the best of both worlds. Would highly recommend!

  • We had a really excellent stay at Misti's house. The house is spacious and perfectly located in the best district of Amsterdam. You can easily walk to the centre / red light district / and main tourist attractions and be there in 10 - 15 minutes. There are lots of lovely cafes, boutiques, bars and restaurants also within walking distance of the house. The house is really stylishly decorated and has everything that you need. We would really recommend this to anyone interested in going to Amsterdam!

  • We had a wonderful time in the Jordaan neighborhood. We were a group of 6 brothers and sisters, the apartment was great and weather was perfect. Misti was wonderful and helped with everything we've asked for. Highly recommended.

  • Perfect apartment, convenient location, close to public transportation, short walk from city center, etc. Misti also surprised us with a bottle of wine. Amsterdam is an amazing city and we'd definitely stay here again.

One quick note to future visitors - like most Amsterdam canal houses, the stairs are crazy steep and narrow. May want to rethink bringing huge suitcases - duffle bags are probably the wiser choice in this scenario.

  • Great host & great experience. Best location and a beautiful place.

  • Misti was very responsive by email when our travel plans were delayed, which was incredibly helpful as our party of three arrived at two separate times. The house was just as lovely as in the pictures, especially the kitchen and dining area. Misti even had a bottle of wine, sparkling water, and guidebooks available to welcome us. It's a perfect location for exploring by foot, bus/tram, or bike and we got the neighborhood feel we hoped for! Be mindful that the stairs are steep leading up from the street to the door and it might be difficult to carry up a big suitcase if you aren't travelling light. I would definitely rent this place again as there were so many great restaurants nearby that we didn't get to experience in our short stay!
