The apartment is lovely and is actually quite a bit larger than you might assume based on the photos in the ad. Neighbors were friendly, and the location is very convenient to Marigny / Frenchman Street, the Esplanade (east) side of the Quarter, and other less touristy, enjoyable spots in Central New Orleans.
The little coffee shop a block away is quite charming and offered a nice change of scenery for doing a little work, etc. Be sure to check out Buffa's on Esplanade and the Apple Barrel over on Frenchman.
Nyadja is a very gracious host and was even so good as to ship me a bag I foolishly left behind.
The only caveats I would share with potential guests are:
*The nearby history museum is, sadly, closed for renovation.
*Most of the Treme neighborhood south of I-10 is in great shape (the block where the apartment is located in super-cute), but in walking to and from the Quarter you will pass by the occasional abandoned / rough property.
*The apartment is near a community garden where there are roosters. This charming, in its way, but if you have never tried to sleep in around roosters, you might want to invest in some earplugs. They really will wake you right up.
All in all, a very pleasant stay and a great base of operations for seeing New Orleans.
What a wonderful place to stay! The apartment was so beautiful that we had to push ourselves to get out into the city, especially since we got to watch three lively parades out our window in the time we were there. It's a five minute walk to the Treme Coffeehouse where the natives are friendly, then another ten minutes to the French Quarter. Good local buses too. It's not a place to walk around at night, but during the day we always felt safe. The kitchen is far better than we've got at home, though if we were staying longer, we'd add some utensils, etc. Adolph and Naydja are significant members of the community and have spearheaded a lot of regeneration. This apartment showcases the potential of the older buildings in Treme. Really gorgeous. We recommend it!
The hosts were fantastic. I really enjoyed their hospitality. The apartment was spectacular, right in the heart of the Treme. It was the best way I could have spent my memorable time in New Orleans. They made me feel like family.
I've had an amazing stay in Treme! The apartment is even better than it looks on line. What a treat. The reservation and the check in process was easy with the owners, Nadya and Adolf. Both are kind, friendly and professional. I was here over the holidays and was included in a neighborhood Christmas party, and a New Year's Day party. I felt welcomed and loved meeting my neighbors. This location is so convenient. Right off of I-10 and an easy walk to the French Quarter, Fisherman's and I even walked to the shops on Magazine. Bywater and Marignyi are also easy to access. Great place for a week or a month. Grab it if you are lucky enough to find an available week!
great folks to rent from... they are real pros who helped made our stay even better than we could have imagined. the property is ideally located in treme, 10 minutes walk from the heart of the quarter. this is the real new orleans. we can't wait to come back to the crescent city to drink again from the mississip.
The apartment is really beautiful, perfect for a new orleans trip. It is renovated with great taste, we enjoyed listening to WWOZ new orleans radio while cooking some great meals in the all equipped kitchen. We had a great time while we were renting this place, it's near the french quarter and the louis armstrong park. We walk every night to local Jazz club in Marigny and it was easy to catch the public transport if we wanted to good further. I recommend this apartment without any hesitation it's just great and the owners are friendly and ready to help if there's something.

The apartment was fantastic. The rooms were large and warmly furnished, and most importantly, the apartment was not overly filled with "stuff", and it was stocked with all the necessary supplies we needed. Now, for the Bynums, they were the most hospitable, friendly, fun loving, and beautiful couple you'd ever want to meet. They went above and beyond the call of duty, and we're available when we needed them. They made us feel like family members who had come back home. Kitsaun & Gregory
Naydja and Adolph Bynum are a happily married couple who are preservationist and very involved with quality of life projects in the Treme community where they live. They are members of key city-wide boards and organizations to help rebuild the city of New Orleans. Restoring old New Orleans "shot gun" houses which is a way of uplifting the history of our city via the architectural details while adding the conveniences and conforts of modern day is a passion they share.
Naydja is the founding and past president of the Historic Faubourg Treme Association and Adolph has lead a community effort to plant trees in Treme and is very active with the New Orleans African American Museum of Art, Culture and History located in their neighborhood. Adolph is a retired pharmacist. Naydja has a doctorate degreee in nursing and has served as an adjunct faculty at Dillard University. Due to the rich history of New Orleans, they became a licensed tour guides something they do more as a hobby.
When time permits, they love to travel and have been to several countries in the world. They also love to dance and when they find themselves at a party, they let their hair down.
