WHERE ELECTRIC AVENUE MEETS ABBOT KINNEY...THE BEST IN RESIDENTIAL IN-TOWN LIVING.
Steps from my ever popular Designer Bungalow, the Designer Loft is located in the heart of Venice, immediately adjacent to the best blocks of Abbot Kinney and short blocks to the inspiring Venice Boardwalk and beach at the Pacific Ocean.
The Bungalow has been redecorated, and the Loft has benefited with the addition to it of the gorgeous apple green with woven leather Grand Comfort Sofas by LeCorbusier and black leather tufted bed by Mies Van der Rohe. I deal in vintage and antiques, and treasure these pieces. As with my other home, I also decorate with art and pieces from Gumbo Kinney Vintage. That's the shop I have in Venice. (email hidden)! That livingroom rug is pretty amazing, too. It's from a fine, old rug shop in Toronto, Turko Persian (since 1906!) I'm in the loft now, writing, and appreciating the Venice energy and my (newest) additional residence. You'll love it. A large triangular shape; Venice is built in triangles. Light, private and on a fashionable block, the loft is surrounded by architecturally significant housing, both very modern and dating from as early as 1904, Venice's beginnings and present are really cool, reminds me of comfort foods, with hard liquor.
There is a Victorian, simple yet really rich, room divider that well defines a bedroom and a livingroom. The lr sleeps one on the leather bed. The bedroom has a vintage iron day bed and trundle that converts it to a comfortable king, with a 2 inch temperpedic pad, and good linens.
The bath has a commode, with bidet attachment (hey, it's European, I'm game!) The bathtub and shower are against the grooviest glass block wall. This apartment has great, great light.
Decent, cute kitchen that's easy to keep neat.
Wifi is all that's needed in Venice, and it's here.
I stay involved enough for you to get your wishes met.
There is a small private yard with two chaises.
Venice is really pleasant, considering it is enjoying world class notoriety these days.
Gjelina's nearby...yay! Local 1205 down the block for coffee and great stuff, wonderful.
We can discuss bikes.
Jeff was a very friendly host. He swung by to visit a few times which was unexpected but we didn't mind.
The place is much smaller than we anticipated but it got the job done and is in a great location. Highly recommended for a couple. Any group bigger then that is a bit of stretch.
Enjoyed it though, so thanks Jeff!
Just to be clear, I only visited because you guys didn't arrive unil much later than expected, and I wanted to check because I left the place unlocked for you. I guess the following day, I waved from my bike on the way to work. I am only responding to clarify, personally, I make a habit of leaving my guests to their own devices unless they ask..lol!
I LOVED this little apartment - cozy, loaded with character, and perfectly located for all of the amazing food and beaches Venice has to offer! Jeff was beyond lovely and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
jeff was super cool and nice - very available to help with any questions i had - came round to introduce himself - made me feel very very welcome
the place is in a fantastic location - if you want to spend some tome hanging out in Abbot Kinney, there (email hidden)
super interesting host and extremely flexible with me - was available at a minutes notice
and the place is perfect Venice beach !!
I had an amazing time during our stay at Jeff's Designer Loft. Jeff is an awesome guy who was friendly and inviting. The check-in experience was a breeze, I was pleasantly surprised by the ideal location, and the cozy unit was perfect for my needs. Jeff owns a antique shop in town which should help paint a picture of the decor. Loved it. Thanks Jeff!
Jeff is very kind, and the studio apartment is charming, but far from the images posted. It seems to be a rotating repository for Jeff's antique furniture business. Unfortunately on my stay there was a lot of dusty furniture crammed into the space leaving me feeling claustrophobic compared to the airy images on the site.
Other improvements needed to make this experience worth $180/night: screens on the windows to keep out bugs/dust, carpet shampoo as it was quite crusty, maintenance of the front patio space (my cat got fleas from the dead brush and deposited dusty furniture).
The location is great... and the space could be too with some work.
Jeff responded in a timely manner and made the whole process very easy. Very accommodating and no nonsense. The place is very cute. Its really a little beach bungalow not a loft.
Location is perfect for the quintessential Venice Beach experience.
Really enjoyable retreat! Thanks again Jeff.
NOT spacious and NOT a loft! Let's be honest Jeff, this is a ground floor studio with no view. Jeff showed up late and didn't even have the keys with him. He forgot he was going to rent us two bikes, and I wish I would have forgot. The bikes were an absolute joke and could not be ridden. I ended up renting bikes on the beach, they were the same price and brand new. Jeff said he would send me a refund and never did. Sorry Jeff! Just be honest!
Jeff will always make you feel at home. That is exactly how I felt....at home but without all the things you have to do while you are at home. I was away on holiday in a very cozy and spacious home. Location location location. If you are new to Venice this is where you want to be. You never have to get in a car except to head out of town. I showed my friend all my favorite places in Venice...the canals, etc...all on foot. Thank you Jeff!
Jeff's place is in a great spot, plenty of cafes and bars to choose from and a stroll to the beach. His place is cozy and the bed very very comfortable! It has a big bath too. I'd recommend Jeff's place for a stay in Venice Beach anytime.
