Located Just 15 miles south of beautiful Santa Barbara, nestled in a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by flowering gardens, and ranches is the coastal town of Carpinteria.
The private guest room and bath is conveniently located on one side of this relaxing, peaceful home. The guest room offers a very cozy queen-size bed, down comforter and pillows for a good nights sleep. The private, full bath is attached to the room and has a very large shower, fresh towels, hair dryer, complimentary: soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste.
There is access to a gourmet kitchen for preparing meals there is complimentary coffee and tea, laundry, dinning room, living room with a flat screen TV/ HD DVD player. Free WiFi though out the house and tranquil sun-room with views of the garden and the Los Padres National Forest as a backdrop. There is also several outdoor spaces to enjoy a book in the shade on the patio, take in the sun or relax in the hot tub. There is easy, accessible street parking available right in front of the house. I also share my home with a well behaved, adorable dog Lucky who will not invade your space.
I have called Carpinteria and Santa Barbara my home for my whole life. I have hosted International students from Holland, Japan and Switzerland. I have a Wealth of Knowledge which I would love to share with you and help make your trip a wonderful experience.
I will pick up or drop off at the Carpinteria Amtrak Train Station no charge. There are bikes, beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, and a cooler for you to use during your stay.
The house is located 1 mile from the Carpinteria State Beach and charming downtown Carpinteria with many shops, cafes, ice-creamery, local brewery, wine bar, and great little places to eat. There is also a shuttle which picks up in the neighborhood and will take you all the way to the beach. Carpinteria has little gems like the Bluffs Nature Preserve, and the Salt Marsh wetlands both are magical places to take and evening stroll.
Easy accesses north to Santa Barbara, Summerland, Santa Ynez and Montecito and south to Ojai.
I welcome you to my home. The kitchen, and sunroom are my favorite. There are 2 patios and a hot tub to help you relax and enjoy your stay.
The small town feel starts at El Carro park where the shuttle picks up one block from the house to down town Carpinteria and the beach. Take backpack chairs and boogie boards and head to the beach. There you can rent kayaks & surf boards. Walking up Linden there are many wonderful restaurants and shops. Take the bikes and ride the 4 mile round trip and see the "bluffs" and Seal rookery.
There are bikes for your use. The neighborhood trolley can be picked up 1 block from the house. It goes around town for fifty cents.

Another delightful stay! Staying in Margaret's home is everything one hopes for in an Airbnb accommodation which definitely is far superior to the local motels. Location is great, neighborhood is quiet and I very much enjoyed soaking in the new high quality hot tub each night before bed. The kitchen is a delight appointed with anything one might need for cooking or snacks. I don't know of a better accommodation in Carp...
Our stay with Margaret was simply wonderful, including everything we could want in an airbnb accommodation plus more. Here home has recently received a significant interior renovation with lovely millwork, appliances, fixtures and finishes. A truly first class accommodation that is even better than the photos. We did not have a lot of direct contact with Margaret as we were away much of the time, however, she made sure that we had everything we needed and it was easy to contact her. The neighborhood is rather "suburban" but it is really quiet and access and parking is great. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Carp if it is available!
Margaret and her home are both phenomenal! Being in Margaret's home is like being in your own home. She makes you feel very welcome. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is beautiful, you have access to a full gourmet kitchen, dining room, sunroom, family, and her gorgeous yard. Margaret has covered all the bases. She has Santa Barbara maps and information made available as well as notes throughout the house to explain how everything works. Not a single detail is overlooked. The thing that blew me away the most is that she has a refrigerator, freezer, and pantry completely stocked with food and their for your use. Unbelievable! Margaret and her home are true gems! Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town! Thank you, Margaret!
As I type, I’m staring at over 20 doves gathered in the shade of a nearby jacaranda, poised towards the sea in Margaret's peaceful sanctuary. Sea breezes gently blow the various hanging chimes on Margaret’s patio. The only thing louder than the patio chimes are the hummingbirds’ wings as they dart about, chasing each other through the air, then lighting on a purple flower long enough (and close enough to me) to show off an orange band around a dime-sized neck. The reason the bird sanctuary is here: this place is special--peaceful, sacred. All the amenities are first rate, but truly, you can find that in many places. What you can’t often find, and what makes Margaret’s beach house so unique, is a place to truly connect with everything around you, and in so doing, connect with yourself. Simply put, it’s spectacular. Margaret goes out of her way to be accessible and giving while making sure you have plenty privacy and space to relax. She is generous in thought and spirit with too many details to mention. (Okay. I'll mention one. When I left, she even sent me home with goodies from her beautiful garden.) I felt so at home. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint, a short jaunt to the beach. The place is much better than the pictures would have you believe. I will definitely be returning!
Our host, Margaret, was very thoughtful in leaving numerous brochures about the area. Her home was immaculate and homey. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the quite atmosphere.
Margaret (and her house) were exactly the vacation home we were hoping for. The house was a garden oasis and we took advantage of its patios, sun chairs, yard, and jacuzzi. We were lucky enough to share the spacious yard with a very sedate and affectionate dog Lucky and two charming tortoises. Margaret herself was very welcoming and accommodating. She provided a beautiful kitchen (including gas range) stocked with quality ingredients, helping us save a lot of money on restauranting. We had fresh squeezed orange juice every morning and a hot tub soak every night. The bathroom was stocked with all the high quality essentials and much more. Margaret was our personal docent, giving great advice on where to go, what to do, and what to expect for traffic/transit if and when we asked. She was respectful of our space and eminently available at our request. The Carpinteria/Santa Barbara area has bluffs, beaches and trails nearby, and Margaret has two mountain bikes (with helmets) that made it easy to get around. The city had sea kayak and surfboard rentals at the beach. We couldn't have been happier.
We could not be happier with our stay with Margaret. We were initially concerned about the dynamics in sharing a house with a host, but were so pleasantly surprised by how nice the stay was. Her kitchen was stocked, we had a nice private bed and bath with attached porch, she was incredibly generous with her kitchen and space and made us feel instantly at home. she was helpful but not intrusive at all. We would definitely stay here again if we come to carpinteria again!
All around awesome stay!
I am a California Native. I love gardening, cooking, entertaining and travel. I spend my free time taking my dog Lucky on walks to the bluffs near my house and meeting friends for dinner and game night.
