Interaction with Guests
This is my primary residence and I live in my home. Since joining Airbnb 4 years ago, they have helped me share it with many wonderful guests. I am available to help you with suggestions of things to do during your stay. As well as if problems arise.
The small town feel starts at El Carro park where the shuttle picks up one block from the house to down town Carpinteria and the beach. Take backpack chairs and boogie boards and head to the beach. There you can rent kayaks & surf boards. Walking up Linden there are many wonderful restaurants and shops. Take the bikes and ride the 4 mile round trip and see the "bluffs" and Seal rookery.
There are bikes for your use. The neighborhood trolley can be picked up 1 block from the house. It goes around town for fifty cents.

Margaret was the consummate hostess, and her beautifully-appointed home was everything we had hoped for and more. We were treated to a lovely garden (filled with hummingbirds) which included a great hot tub to ensure a good night's sleep, as well as unexpected amenities like superb WiFi and Apple TV, which allowed us to stream movies every night off our laptop. She went out of her way to accommodate us, and we truly can't find anything but positives to reflect upon.
We are regular guests with Margaret and over the years she has started to feel like an old friend. We have tried several options on airbnb, all over the country, and I feel confident in saying that Margaret's home is the best. It feels like a second home for us. She is lovely, inviting and generous with her time and space. This particular year was different because we brought our 11 month old. The house and yard were quite family friendly. Margaret was so sweet with our little girl. We'll definitely be back for years to come, as long as she'll have us!
Margaret and her place were both gems. She portrays her place accurately in her description and photos but both were comfortable way beyond my expectations. The location was also perfect for me. Her little neighborhood is friendly and safe and very quiet. The gardens and lounging areas outside were wonderfully relaxing... it was hard to tear myself away and head to the beautiful beaches and little seaside town. When I did, having arrived by train and without a car, the open air electric trolley was a fun way to journey to town and the beaches; it stopped a short walk from Margaret's house and made the trip every 25 minutes and was so easy and pleasant sometimes I came and went twice in a day. When it was inconvenient to do that Margaret always generously offered me a ride. When I arrived on the train she picked me up and after settling in at her house we drove to the beach at sunset where we sat in her cushy beach chairs, talked and enjoyed some wonderful snacks she had prepared - she's a great cook too! She was generous beyond expectation with good organic coffee and fresh oranges in the morning and we shared some delicious meals on her terrace. It was fun to meet Phillip and share one of those dinners with him. Great guy.
Her home is immaculately clean, cozy bed and linens, a nice sunroom for hanging out with the morning coffee and a chat or magazine. The backyard was my favorite; I loved the beautiful gardens her son Greg created while growing up there (and that Margaret now lovingly tends to). I also got to meet Greg, who now lives in San Francisco, which was a treat. A very talented designer/potter/garden creator. The birds and butterflies love those gardens... I spent much time just laying back in the lounge chair enjoying the show. Or smelling the flowers while sitting in the biggest, cleanest hot tub I've ever been in...
I think I could go on and on but.... it was a memorable trip and I can't wait to do it again. Thanks so much, Margaret for your kindness and generosity and SPECIALNESS! I wanna be there now...
Our stay at Margaret's house was just delightful and so easy. She provided all the information we needed, and made us feel so at home, from a fully stocked fridge (which we didn't even tap into since we brought our own food, but we appreciated it) to a fully stocked kitchen, towels for the hot tub and a comfy bed. Jay wants to know what brand the mattress was - he loved it! We loved the turtles and the backyard garden which was a total bird lovers heaven. Sitting in the garden watching the hummingbirds was all I needed. The location was super convenient and we loved having the bikes to zip into Carp and down to the beach. Since my son lives in Carp and I officiate weddings in the Santa Barbara area, I'm sure I will be back and will hope this little oasis will be available.
Another delightful stay! Staying in Margaret's home is everything one hopes for in an Airbnb accommodation which definitely is far superior to the local motels. Location is great, neighborhood is quiet and I very much enjoyed soaking in the new high quality hot tub each night before bed. The kitchen is a delight appointed with anything one might need for cooking or snacks. I don't know of a better accommodation in Carp...
Our stay with Margaret was simply wonderful, including everything we could want in an airbnb accommodation plus more. Here home has recently received a significant interior renovation with lovely millwork, appliances, fixtures and finishes. A truly first class accommodation that is even better than the photos. We did not have a lot of direct contact with Margaret as we were away much of the time, however, she made sure that we had everything we needed and it was easy to contact her. The neighborhood is rather "suburban" but it is really quiet and access and parking is great. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Carp if it is available!
Margaret and her home are both phenomenal! Being in Margaret's home is like being in your own home. She makes you feel very welcome. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is beautiful, you have access to a full gourmet kitchen, dining room, sunroom, family, and her gorgeous yard. Margaret has covered all the bases. She has Santa Barbara maps and information made available as well as notes throughout the house to explain how everything works. Not a single detail is overlooked. The thing that blew me away the most is that she has a refrigerator, freezer, and pantry completely stocked with food and their for your use. Unbelievable! Margaret and her home are true gems! Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town! Thank you, Margaret!
