About this listing
THIS AREA HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED BY THE STORM. WE ARE HAPPY TO ACCOMMODATE YOU.
Hi guys Gaby here: to get a feel how close we are, look at the video (website hidden)/watch?v=qVzgLcDjWzY
Please don't be put off by this listing being outside of Manhattan. We are closer to Midtown Manhattan, Times Square, Theater District, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Empire State Building, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Rockefeller Center than staying in other parts of Manhattan (Wall St., Upper East or West Side, above 70s... We are closer than all parts of Brooklyn and definitely way closer than staying in Queens/Bronx).
(There are two other bedrooms, which may be rented out by other guests.)
Newly decorated private room in a three-bedroom house in Union City, NJ. Union City is on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel and therefore very close (15 min. bus ride) to Port Authority/Times Square area. Private luxurious room with a queen-size bed nightstands, open spacious air and heat, beautiful hardwood floors and exquisite mahogany color to help you relax after a day of sightseeing and shopping or whatever you please; we will welcome you with open arms, take a bath or soak or shower makes you feel like you're bathing in the rain; a great kitchen balcony overlooking a beautiful reservoir. Hear your favorite music, eat a snack or whatever, this is what Robert & Gaby your hosts will provide for you. We will greet you as part of our family and for assistance; your privacy and accommodation will be our responsibility and our pleasure.
About the neighborhood:
The neighborhood is quiet and very nice, 100 steps from a family grocery to buy what you need. Walking distance to banks, pharmacy, and 15 minutes from midtown Manhattan (Time Square/Port Authority Bus Terminals). You'll reach Midtown faster from this location than from locations even located in Manhattan.
ABOUT YOUR ROOM and the house:
* Physical keys, so you can come and go as you please
* Real queen bed, very comfy and cozy
* Spacious house
* Original wood floors
* Big balcony where you can smoke
* Free WIFI
* Includes all linens, blankets, towels and pillows
* Share kitchen and bathrooms (one full bath) with other guests
* House is on street level so there are some stairs to walk up although bedrooms are on second level.
ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
* Located in Union City, NJ, a very short direct bus ride to Times Square area
* Five blocks from gorgeous Manhattan views (along Hudson River)
* Best 'cafe con leche' in town on corner. You'll wonder why you spend so much at Starbucks!
* Buses to Manhattan/Times Square run every minute during day, and every 4 minutes at night. Buses run all night.
* Great grocery and wine/liquor stores in the neighborhood including one right on the corner which is open until 11pm
* Very safe neighborhood, lots of great restaurants and bakeries but also very quiet at night.
* Private buses (we call it 'chicken bus') run 24/7 and go directly to Manhattan's Midtown / Port Authority, one block away from Times Square for $2.50 a seat. It's what all the locals use.
* City bus runs every 12 minutes to Hoboken, home of the Cake Boss and every 20 minutes (during commute hours) into Manhattan.
* Easy city bus access to Jersey Garden Outlet Mall, much closer and as good as Woodbury Commons.

I stayed at Gaby's appatment for one night and had a great time. The appartment was beuatifull and fully equipped. My room was cozy and clean. The location of the apartment is great and really close to Manhattan.
Gaby was very kind and flexible and made the whole process of checking in and out very easy.
Gaby and Robert are very friendly and helpful hosts. They were quick to meet our needs when requested. The room with the balcony view wasn't ready for rental and we were given another room in another house. It looked small and run down from outside but it's actually quite well equipped and comfortable. It can accommodate up to 5-6 people and there is only 1 bathroom in the house. It is rather convenient to go to Times Square via NJ Transit bus 123 which cost USD 3.20 each way and to Jersey Gardens Mall. It would more convenient to fly out from Newark International Airport though one can also use the AirPorter bus services from Port Authority to JFK and other airports.
We arrived late night, but we had no problem at all to get the keys. Communication with Gaby was good and quick, she's very friendly and helpful. We told her we were hungry after driving, so she helped us finding and ordering some food to a restaurant that has delivery service at night (it was around 11pm) while we park the car.
Excellent her recommendation for breakfast ("Noches" Colombian restaurant) you must go when you visit New Jersey. Parking permit helped us a lot, we left the car two complete days in front of the house. Neighborhood quiet and safe. Bus stop within walking distance was great!
Other rooms were occupied by other guest (in the Description she mentioned this might happen) we could hear the noise they made even footsteps and other doors opening. Overall experience was good though :).
The door to the living area was locked and I couldn't get in! The host doesn't speak great english, tried explaining what was going on in spanish and sent her a photo of the latch that was locked. She came 10 min later, she tried to break the latch by pushing hard and asked me to try too.... after a significant amount of time one of the other guests sleeping inside finally came out and unlocked the latch to let us in. cannot reccommend, sorry! so many people cooped up in there, pretty sketchy!
Gaby send me the details on how to get there, it was very helpful. I felt like a local, not a tourist.
The neighborhood is quiet and calm. There is a view to the lake but just from one of the rooms and the living room. I think the place in general could be better but it's good for the price.
The bed I stayed was so good, felt like a hotel.
I would have it in mind if I go back.
Attention, We have not slept in the house with the balcony, we had the unpleasant surprise to go in another house, with a bedroom with a lack of soundproofing and a view of a courtyard (not charming) and a bathroom with a lack of hygiene.
I sent 4 mails (Mail Airbnb + personal) for information, I have had no return.
A bit limited for a romantic getaway
Otherwise, super cool neighborhood near NY with several potential bus (explained on site), beautiful view of Manhattan during the day and especially at night.
