About This Listing
Bodawen is a very traditional welsh stone cottage which has retained it's character and charm. Including low doorways.....mind your head. Everyone who visits is fascinated by its history and quirkiness. It is an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia.
The guest accommodation comprises a lounge and attic bedroom which has recently been renovated (March 2015). The bedroom is accessed from the guest lounge via a paddle step ladder. There is central heating but should guests feel the need to get really cozy there is a log burning stove. The kitchen and bathroom are shared with myself. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen for their own cooking needs.
I supply basic breakfast ingredients and as much tea and coffee as you can drink. There is no TV here so it's very much make your own entertainment. There is a small library and a selection of traditional games. I can help with plans to visit local sites of interest.
I live in a fairly rural setting and my village has no shop or pub. However nearby towns and villages have some very nice eateries, shops, castles, post offices, steam railways, beaches, gardens.
The bus service is pretty infrequent and therefore I could not in all honesty say it is an ideal location for those relying on buses to get to and from here.
Most popular attractions are within a half hour drive of here and I can advise on what activities suit particular weather conditions or abilities.
Guests have access to their own lounge and bedroom plus the shared kitchen and bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
Guests have their own separate space and I never venture into that unless invited. Just close the door and you're on your own. The kitchen is shared and tends to be the meeting space. I leave guests to decide the level of interaction they prefer.
I'm a fairly chilled chap so can, and have, coped with just about anyone. All I ask is you clean up after yourselves and respect my stuff.....I'm happy for you to use whatever you need in the kitchen...just treat it as if it was not your own but your mothers.
Luke made us very welcome. His home is well designed for airbnb - with a separate sitting room and a loft bedroom for guests. We shared the kitchen with Luke and this worked well. He is a generous host who makes his visitors feel comfortable. Luke has a deep knowledge of the local area - where to walk, the history, nice pubs to eat - and he shared this knowledge with enthusiasm.
The village is quiet, with lovely views of Snowdonia.
Luke was a very friendly host and made us feel welcome. His home was readily available to us (including washing machine and hanging clothes out on his line) and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed. We enjoyed his conversation and advices as to where to take walks. The loft bedroom is not for the faint hearted! but warm.
This was our first visit in Airbnb and we really felt welcomed by Luke. He was very helpful and we really enjoyed to stay in his traditional stone-cottage in a very beutiful landscape. We felt at home there and had nice chats with our host.
Luke was very welcoming and accommodating. It was good to have the private living space with log burner. Bedroom was clean and tidy but small. Good selection for breakfast that we were left to help ourselves to. Over all enjoyed out stay and it was good value for money. It was a short drive to the start of Snowdon Pyg track, so great location for our need.
We really enjoyed staying at Luke's cottage; it is in such a beautiful location and the bed was super-comfy. Luke was a great host, with plenty of suggestions of things to do in the area. We would definitely look to stay here again when we return to North Wales.
