We are offering this carefully renovated Victorian 3 bedroom house for rent at certain times throughout the year, depending on our own respective travel/ work schedules.
The house offers bright and spacious accommodation with two bedrooms on the second floor and a lovely attic conversion (bedroom/ study with large writing desk for two people)on the third. We now also have a really nice single sofa bed up here for the occasional 'mid-work nap' or to sleep an additional person. There is a comfy living room, large family bathroom and a very well-equipped live-in-kitchen with skylights (facing South/ East). The latter opens up into the sunny garden (which is currently undergoing a major overhaul to become the finest on the island :-)
The house is located in what we think is one of Oxford's loveliest neighbourhoods - a collection of small Victorian cottages in a historic area, close to the river Thames on one side and parks to the other.
It is only a few minutes from the Thames tow path which leads up to the open spaces of ancient Port Meadow in one direction, and towards Oxford University, Henley, and eventually London in the other. The path (email hidden) to walk, cycle, go for a run or Sunday morning stroll.
Oxford city centre is easily reached in about 10-15 minutes on foot, and in about 5 on bicycle. Various small shops are nearby for daily essentials, as is West Oxford Primary School and several parks and playgrounds.
Also, the train station is not far away (3 minutes on foot) - perfect for commuters to London (Paddington 60 mins) and visitors who have no car. There is a bus stop linking into the Oxford network at the end of the street.
Osney Island is (email hidden) to live, especially in Spring and Summer, and the neighbourhood is quiet, full of character and very family friendly.
Super-fast fibre optic broadband and phone use is included in the rental price. Long-term stays will be asked to pay for weekly cleaning (about £20). Parking permits for on-street parking are available.
We ask for a minimum stay of two nights unless there are some exceptional circumstances.
We very much enjoyed staying at David and Anna's. The house is very centrally located but also very quiet, walking distance from the center and a just a few minutes walk to the Thames' banks for wonderful biking, jogging or walking. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, opening on the garden for breakfast or lunch in the sun for the lucky ones!
I stayed here for a week with my family (including 2 very small children, 3yrs and 1yr) and it suited us very well. The location was excellent - Oxford town centre was just a 10 minute walk, and a big open playing field and playground were just opposite. The street itself was very peaceful and quiet and close to some lovely family friendly pubs. David and Anna were very helpful, even going as far as buying a travel cot so that my littlest would have somewhere to sleep. I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere, but we hadn't remembered that the hosts are dog owners, so my husband and I (who are both allergic to dogs) spent the week sniffling a bit. However, all in all we had a very pleasant stay.
(email hidden) to explore Oxford from - lovely local residential street surrounded by the river with paths to explore avoiding the roadside! Very central and easy to find. Katie the housekeeper was beyond helpful and made our stay extremely comfortable that we felt at home instantly. Extremely clean and well equipped. A really beautiful and comfortable home.
My colleagues stayed at Anna's place. Anna did her best to ensure that they had a great experience in Oxford during the design conference that was going on in the town. She picked up them at the train station and was really kind to all of our requirements prior and during our stay over there. Thanks again, Anna!
A cosy and comfortable house with hosts who were very helpful.
Great location for station and city centre.
What a great experience we had during our brief 4-day stay at Oxford. David & Anna's home is quiet and well equipped with all the amenities to make the stay comfortable. The kitchen area is spacious and overlooks the quiet backyard and patio. And, the location is within a 5-10 minute walk to the center of downtown Oxford.
Bright and airy is an extremely accurate description, and add to that cozy and cheerful, and ideally located on a quiet little street that was just a quick walk from the train station with our luggage, and then an entirely manageable walk from there to anywhere else we wanted to go during our visit here to see our son, who'd been in a study abroad program at Oxford. Ample room for our family of four adults, and everything was clean and tidy and extremely comfortable, with a nice large bathroom, and a spacious kitchen, with a pretty backyard garden to look at outside. We loved it!
Wonderful house in a great location! We were 4 adults and a child and it worked out great to have a house (vs. a hotel/flat) with a big kitchen and back garden.
(email hidden) to stay! The house was very clean & the location was perfect! We were only a few minutes away from the train & bus stations. My mom took a few bus tours of the Oxford area, which were absolutely wonderful.
Also, Anna is so accommodating that she went as far as drive our party to our respective destinations on the day we checked out (totally unnecessary but so thoughtful!). Also, there were just thoughtful things like leaving her iphone chargers so that we could use them instead of share 2 adapters amongst the five of us guests. That was really helpful! Thanks for a wonderful stay! We really enjoyed or stay so much. Thank you!!
