About this listing

Our house is romantically located on Osney Island, a lovely neighbourhood of green gardens and quiet Victorian cottages (and a great local!). Near town center, easy walking distance everywhere. Close to train station and many local amenities.

The space

WE APOLOGIZE BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT A MINIMUM STAY OF 4 NIGHTS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF WORK IT TAKES TO GET THE HOUSE READY FOR GUESTS.

We are offering this carefully renovated Victorian 3 bedroom house for rent at certain times throughout the year, depending on our own respective travel/ work schedules.

The house offers bright and spacious accommodation with two bedrooms on the second floor and a lovely attic conversion (bedroom/ study with large writing desk for two people)on the third. We now also have a really nice single sofa bed up here for the occasional 'mid-work nap' or to sleep an additional person. There is a comfy living room, large family bathroom and a very well-equipped live-in-kitchen with skylights (facing South/ East). The latter opens up into the sunny garden (which is currently undergoing a major overhaul to become the finest on the island :-)

The house is located in what we think is one of Oxford's loveliest neighbourhoods - a collection of small Victorian cottages in a historic area, close to the river Thames on one side and parks to the other.
It is only a few minutes from the Thames tow path which leads up to the open spaces of ancient Port Meadow in one direction, and towards Oxford University, Henley, and eventually London in the other. The path is a wonderful place to walk, cycle, go for a run or Sunday morning stroll.
Oxford city centre is easily reached in about 10-15 minutes on foot, and in about 5 on bicycle. Various small shops are nearby for daily essentials, as is West Oxford Primary School and several parks and playgrounds.
Also, the train station is not far away (3 minutes on foot) - perfect for commuters to London (Paddington 60 mins) and visitors who have no car. There is a bus stop linking into the Oxford network at the end of the street.

Osney Island is simply a wonderful place to live, especially in Spring and Summer, and the neighbourhood is quiet, full of character and very family friendly.

Super-fast fibre optic broadband and phone use is included in the rental price. Long-term stays will be asked to pay for weekly cleaning (about £20). Parking permits for on-street parking are available.

We ask for a minimum stay of two nights unless there are some exceptional circumstances.

Our house is a non-smoking property, no exceptions. You may of course use the garden for smoking, but please bear in mind the neighbours are pretty close by in these Victorian cottages!

Pets are welcome if agreed beforehand, but will incur an additional 40GBP cleaning fee.

Please let us know exactly how many people will be staying - should we find that the number exceeds the one agreed prior to arrival we will withhold the security deposit unless there is a very good reason (eg family emergency) for this.

Also, we love our neighbours; they are fantastic. This house is in a quiet neighbourhood, so if you're planning to party - please find a different place! Should we receive complaints about noise and disturbances we will involve the airbnb team and also consider withholding the deposit.

Security deposit payable on booking. We will hold the deposit for any major breakages/ damages/ missing items/ undue noise.

Check in USUALLY after 15.00 on day of arrival, check out before 12.00 on day of departure (this can be negotiated, of course).

We have additional bedding available if need be. Please ensure you let me know how many guests will be staying so we can prepare everything properly.

If you have any special requests just email us and we'll try our very best to make it work!

Also PLEASE bear in mind that we accept no responsibility for losses, damages or injuries sustained by any visitor, and all visitors are responsible for ensuring they have adequate personal insurance cover before their stay. We are also required to point out that during your stay, you are solely responsible for the house and its movable contents. You must take care to avoid damage and losses, and you must declare any damages or losses that may have occurred during your stay immediately or upon vacating the property via airbnb.

What a truly wonderful house. So beautiful, one of the the best equipped AirBnB's we've ever stayed in and we stay in a lot. It's a very relaxing, calm and serene place to stay. Perfect contrast to the lively town of oxford. Very comfortable beds, PERFECT kitchen, nice bathroom (with a beautifully beep bath). Anna and David, were incredibly communicative. Helped us when we were struggling or needed advice with things. They made sure we were okay and having the best time possible. Super hosts with a superb AirBnB property

This is a great house in a quiet neighborhood, right around the corner from the river and river-path (plus riverside pub), 15 minutes' walk from the city center, 10 minutes' walk from a Waitrose supermarket, 5 minutes' walk from the train station. We stayed for a month with our two young children and almost immediately felt like we'd always lived there. It is indeed bright and airy, and the kitchen in particular is a big, friendly space. The house is clean and well appointed, but not intimidatingly clean (that is, we didn't feel nervous about being there with kids), and not cluttered (there's just as much furniture and kitchen stuff as you'll need). It's a really comfortable, relaxing place to stay, and we would definitely stay again. We did not meet David and Anna but their wonderful housekeeper Monica met us on our first day and was always available to answer questions during our stay. The house was cleaned weekly and a gardener came every other week, so things always looked nice.

I stayed at Anna’s&David’s house with group of 4 of us for a 3-day weekend. We all absolutely loved the place and I can whole-heartedly recommend this house. When we entered in we sighted happily with big smiles while we looked through the different rooms. The house is absolutely lovely and perhaps bigger than I thought. It is a warm, in a nice quiet neighbourhood and we had no problems finding parking with a parking permit that Anna&David kindly provided. We spend lovely sunny breakfast times in the kitchen that is full of light looking at the lovely green garden and cosy evenings in the living room. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and more. It felt like home. There’s also a Punter pub in a short walking distance for a nice meal. Anna&David replies quickly and very flexible with the check in check out times. Thank you for the stay Anna & David!

The location was great; walking distance to the city centre & train station. The neighbours were quiet. It was great to have a little back garden to sit in. Fantastic to have a washing & drying machine. The beds & rooms were comfortable & spacious. It was also good to have some items in stock - toilet paper, tea bags etc.

The house has everything one needs and is extremely well-located: around a 15-minute walk to city centre. The kitchen is especially sunny and there is a nice back patio. Anna and David were extremely helpful and responsive.

We loved our week in David and Anna's place. It's very cozy, well laid out, and the kitchen that opens on to a lovely garden is a real treat. The location is amazing. Osney Island feels like its own little world, away from bustling Oxford, and it was great to be able to hop on the Thames River path and walk our dog up to Port Meadow. Also, make sure to check out the Punter - a nice pub just around the corner.
