Great communication

It is with great sadness that I report OUR CABIN BURNED TO THE GROUND along with 42 other cabins in Sequoia Crest on Sept. 13th. 59 cabins survived. The 130,000 acre Castle Fire has burned most of the cabins in the nearby communities of Alpine Village and Cedar Slope. The fire is still burning.
It is just one of the more than two dozen wildfires burning in California.

We want to thank AirBnB for their support. It gave us great pleasure to be able to share our special cabin with the world.

The space
Our cabin home has a classic vaulted ceiling, with a wall of windows looking into the forest of evergreens. Lower level den with TV. We are a three hour drive from Sequoia/Kings' Canyon national parks.

Guests are able to enjoy the entire cabin.
If you don't bring your groceries from home shop in Porterville. The closest restaurants are 20 minutes or more away. Due to our wilderness location your cell phone probably won't work. The cabin has a land line phone and Spectrum TV and internet.
We may meet guests when they arrive to answer questions, but will be heading to our home on the coast that day. You can call us if you have additional questions.

Sequoia Crest (elevation 6800') is a unique community of private homes (103) within the Alder Creek Giant Sequoia Grove, home of the 5th largest tree in the world (Alonzo Stagg Tree). Sequoia Crest is surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Private Poppy Lake is 1/2 mile away. Trails lead to Hossack Meadow, Alder Creek & the Jordan Peak trail. We are not near Sequoia or Kings Canyon national parks.

You must use your own vehicle to get there. There are miles of trails to walk and hike. Bring your snow shoes or cross country skis in winter.

The cabin key will be found in a combo lock box, located on the railing opposite the garage side-door. After you book, we'll email the code.

We will not be at the cabin, but are just a phone call away.

There are 103 cabins, but only 18 full time residents in Sequoia Crest. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Only a few cabins are rented out, so most people you may meet will be cabin owners.

You'll need your car to get there and your legs to hike. If you walk the 2 mile loop around Sequoia Crest's paved streets at sunset, you'll see Porterville's lights 6000' down in the San Joaquin Valley.

Just walking (or driving) the paved streets of Sequoia Crest, you'll see many giant sequoias. Please be respectful of private property, especially near and around the giant sequoias, as we have had some vandalism in the forest lately.

My husband (Steve Click) and I built our cabin in Sequoia Crest in 2003, and our home and guest apartment in Atascadero, in 2008. We love the Sierra's, especially the giant sequoia trees in the Alder Creek Grove. There are just 103 cabins in the Sequoia Crest and only about 18 full time residents. You'll find serenity and nature's awesome beauty along the many walking trails. You'll find the 3000 year old 'Stagg' tree (5th largest tree) along Alder Creek. Our cabin is our second home and is not your usual "rental cabin." For many years we have offered our cabin as an auction item for fund raising for different non-profit organizations. We have never had a problem with quests who have stayed at our cabin, so we decided to offer our special place in the sequoia's on Airbnb. In 2006, we bought 11.6 acres in the hills between Morro Bay and Atascadero. In 2008 we built our retirement home. I've lived in San Luis Obispo County since 1971. I came to attend Cal Poly and fell in love with the natural beauty of the county and the small towns. San Luis Obispo is our largest city, with only 44,000 residents. Our private guest apartment is not far from the many attractions in the county. We love interacting with our guests and will fill you in on the best places to see and explore.
