This superbly located family home was redesigned 10 years ago by award winning architects and featured in the 'Sunday Times' Magazine. Although stylish, the emphasis is still very homely and child friendly (we live here most of the year). From an unusually light and spacious living room, sliding glass doors open out onto a courtyard with outdoor dining with deluxe barbeque.
The rear of the coach house opens out onto a private cobbled mews. There is one double bedroom with an ensuite luxury bathroom and two further bedrooms (one single with bunk and the other with one double bed). The Grade II listed townhouse is set in a conservation area of Georgian London and whilst very quiet, the busy and vibrant neighbourhoods of Islington and Clerkenwell are just five minutes away, offering theatres, cinemas, a fantastic range of shops, bars and restaurants. With Kings Cross tube also only a few minutes walk away this is the ideal hub for almost anywhere in London.
We have wifi and cable and plenty of tips on the local area to help you enjoy your stay.
Curteous to neighbours
otherwise no rules!
My family and I stayed at Emily's over the holidays, and we had a wonderful time. Our travel plans changed at the last minute due to a flight cancellation, and she bent over backwards to make sure we wouldn't be stranded at the airport. The housekeeper met us when we arrived to give us keys and show us around, and she was very sweet. The house is beautiful and only a short walk from bus stops and the tube. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The reservation was canceled 38 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The five of us have recently spent a fabulous weekend at the amazing home of Emily and John. A well enjoyed stay in a spacious property. A great relaxing location, yet with central London very quickly reached.
It was relaxing and inspiring, showing innovative use of a London Town house's architecture, with well planned interior design. The quirkiness of their home was absolutely amazing, mixing new with wonderful retro pieces. My wife particularly liked the kitchen ("it's wonderful".) It certainly has great facilities for the hardened chef, and helped confirm some tentative kitchenalia we've been dilly-dallying over for some time.
Whilst located in a quiet area, there is the odd shop a couple of minutes away, building up as you reach tube stations. A brisk 5-10 minutes walk to Kings Cross provides great access to central London; a similar time to Angel Islington provides an alternate tube route and a less touristy shopping area. We did visit with our pension-aged parents - so to give you an idea, on occasion this proved to be a 15-20 minute slow stroll.
We would recommend to anyone considering spending some relaxation time in London, whilst still having facilities within easy reach.
Our first AirBnB adventure, and a big hit.
Thank you,John and Emily for lending us your wonderful home! Every thing was clean, plenty of room, and the most charming home we have ever been to. The neigbourhood was quiet, with small shops with good food, and loads of charm as well. The kids loved it, both the roomey kitchen, and the well equiped childrens rooms. We spent quite some time enjoying your interior and beeing surprised by small details. The only downside I can think of is that staying in a home like this, we enjoyed staying in the house so much that we skipped going out in the evenings. It was simply to enjoyable to have a long dinner in your kitchen, before spending the last of the evening in the livingroom, feeling like we where visiting the orient. According to my children, visiting London first time, London is Big Ben, red buses, and your bath tub with parrots flying over..
We had a wonderful stay at Emily's place. The six of us were staying there for two nights.
Everything was as described in the information on Airbnb, very clean and tidy when we got there and new sheets and towels already supplied on the beds.
Everything was well and easily organized and very convenient. From the moment we were handed the keys until the moment we handed them back.
I recommend this location to anyone, it is very welcoming and perfectly located in the London area for visitors young and old.
Thank you Emily!
This is a wonderful home which has been renovated and decorated with great flair, originality and craftmanship and it felt a privilege to stay there. It's full of interesting features and there was plenty of space for our family of six (although the top bunk in the kids' room is a bit cramped for sleeping). My two boys (7 & 10) thought it was awesome - especially the secret painting room, the piano and the cobbled mews out the back to kick a ball along!
I love this corner of London - the flat is on a very quiet and peaceful Georgian street and yet it's only a very short walk to bustling Exmouth Market, full of great cafes and restaurants (and a fun kids' park). Islington and King's Cross are also an easy walk/bus ride away.
Emily was easy to communicate with and turned up on time to show us around.
