Nice cozy rural place to stay with tasty home-made bread if you're around Tipperary town. Jynx is from the states, and was very friendly.
Jynx is a great character full of stories and time flies quickly while having a chat with her around the stove. A great stop for those who are not expecting hotel standards.
This is really an old world cottage in the moutain, for sure. Unfortunately, we did not met Jynx but we had easy access to her place and communication was really easy with her.
When my friend Clémence and I booked the room we thought we would have the room with purple., but instead, we had the other room with the halloween mask (my friend, a teenage of 14, was really sacred by it, but I wasn't).
What happened was not Jynx fault, but when the night was there, spiders showed up (5 in one room) and because I am really afraid by them, I didn't feel really good, and in the same time, slugs appeared around 10pm in the bathroom, so we did not when to the bathroom after that time (me because of the spiders, my friend because of the slugs). Before going to bed, we had to kill a spider (even if I hate killing insects).
I know it's not Jynx fault at all, but I needed to say it to make sure people who are easily scared by spiders or insects know to avoid them some stress.
Jynx was really nice when we exchanged on airbnb and when we arrived, we found she cooked cakes for us and made the table for us.
We recommend this place for people who like old houses in countryside :)
I dont have a purple room so I couldnt put you in that room. Al thought these 2 people wanted to rent a single bed..I thought they would be more comfortable in a double bed. A single bed is big enough for only one person, they may not have understood this..
Mask is gone
spiders are gone
sluggs are gone..
Jynx's home is in a beautiful location, and was a perfect place to end our 11 days in Ireland. She was unable to be there during our stay, but we had a good time. Her house is an hour away from the airport, and just a few minutes into the town of Tipperary - it's a good location for those who want a day or two of relaxing while seeing Ireland.
Ours was an unusual circumstance. Jynx was very communicative and helpful over email, but unfortunately she was away during our stay so we didn't have the benefit of meeting her and enjoying her hospitality. She had to leave suddenly due to a family emergency so her place wasn't set out as normal. We ourselves didn't feel comfortable staying there however due to the many religious trinkets and masks present in the cluttered room.
I was sorry to see this quest didnt understand. My father had passed away and I made an emergency trip to america, after the funeral I stayed with my mom as it was and is a very hard time for my family and myself.
I had left the care of my home to a friend i didnt know the standards were not good. I apologize for that, there really in no excuse for that. There also were 2 sets of sheets laying on a table at end of bed and clean blankets. I normally would not expect a quest to make there own bed, I really was hoping with her knowing that my dad had died and I want to be with my family she could understand, and enjoy my home as she would (website hidden) she received a self catering home for a very low price. I didnt want to interrupter my quest holiday so I was opening my home to them.
As for the occult religious trinkets,( I laugh) the referred to mask is a Halloween mask my grandson of 10 wore and presented to me. My quest must have a frantic time on Halloween with masks, it is a religious holiday as it does stand for all hallows night. I have a dream catcher hanging in the window, it is a native american artifact, and it is suppose to catch the good dreams ones has, so they will be with you always.. Theres a tin box I made with a snowman on it..religious...don't think so. I have a limited addition of a mermaid painting in the hall way, occult??? On the window sill is a small collection of trinkets I have picked up on my world travels. My special medallion presented to me from nuns of Mother Theresa order, for volunteering in India at Kaligate ( the house of the dying) and for special service for cleaning her tomb room spotless. A picture of goddess Kali (an Indian goddess) as Mother Theresa first hospital Kaligate is next to the Kali temple. I visited as my nieces name is Kali, A minny budest statue from a temple in Arizona, as my daughter and I had visited a festival there. On that shelf is also many small bottles and containers I have picked on my travels and photos of my family. The scariest of all must have been the Irish antique pictures hanging on wall in hallway of the Madonna and Child and a picture of Mary, Joseph and Jesus as a child walking hand in hand. These pictures were in olden days hanging in every Irish home, as this is a very Catholic country. Im a bit silly but I do have many fairy pictures hanging as decorations in the living room, didn't see them as religious, as it is Ireland and they are a mystical thing in this country. I also have a Chinese dragon bell setting by a lizard turquoises and coral bowl again things I pick on travels that remind me of the country I been to. I noticed this quest went threw my books and made a point of laying the bible on the bedside table..wonder did she see all the health related books and herbal books, books on excerse and the book by the Irish author Mauve Binchy. Perhaps her imagination had run away with her at this point. Halloween masks can do that..
Noted I will take down the halloween mask so it doesnt scar anyother adult, but as for religious trinkets, maybe more people should embrace every religion and just be kind and happy and not judge people. If you look hard enough you can find fault in everything..If you look you can also see the good..as my religious trinket of the Mother Theresa medallion I have....I am proud to have volunteered there and made a few sick dying people smile and feel loved.
I'm sorry this quest couldn't make a small change for the circumstance I was in, its a hard time to loss a beloved parent and leave you home open to a stranger, trying to think of the strangers comfort. I am sorry the standards were not correct for her. I only tryed to do my best.
We had a lovely stay at Jynx's cottage. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she couldn't be there but was gracious enough to let us stay in her absence. Her place was very homey, and the perfect locale for us to explore southern Ireland (Glendalough, Cashel, Blarney Castle, Mitchelstown Caves, and Cork-all within a 2 hour drive). Also very close to many hiking/walking paths through the Glen of Aherlow with spectacular views. Though Jynx wasn't there, we could feel her charm in the cottage. Would definitely stay again!
