About this listing
Tourist Home cosy and just renovated, it's situated in San Giovanni neighborhood, from which it takes his name. This neighborhood is quiet, full of every kind of shops, well served with public transport that links it to all city's main tourist attraction and in the proximity of amazing and ancient (where is Cecilia Metella Tomb, Ninfeo di Egeria, etc) Appia Antica Regional Park.
The apartment comprises a hall with bed-settee, a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, electric oven, big fridge; a double bedroom, a two single bedroom, a bathroom with bathtub with washing machine; TV, air conditionig, heating system, internet wifi, secure fee parking.
We loved this apt!!! Alessandro has a big beautiful apt that was very nicely appointed located in the suburbs of Rome. If you take bus 628 at the stop nearby it is about 20 minutes from the city center. The metro is a hike, so I suggest a bus to get around. This apt has all the conveniences of home. There is a grocery and pharmacy a few doors down if you need something, as well as some places to eat nearby. The apt was everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. I will stay here again when I return to Rome.
Leading up to our visit, Alex was very helpful and quick to respond to my messages. He was also nice enough to wait around for my parents when their flight was late. When they arrived he showed them the ins and outs of the apartment, including how to turn the electricity back on when it went out. What we did not expect was how often it would go out! It was awful to deal with. One of the days it literally went out 30 times! We just wanted to wash the towels but apparently the breakers can't handle that. Most days it went out 10-15 times. The breaker box looked old and it was always warm or hot to the touch when we had to flip the switches. Not safe at all! I lived in Rome years ago and never experienced this.
The kitchenware really needs to be updated/replaced. The pots and pans were embarrassingly bad and much of it was actually dirty. Thank goodness for the dishwasher. My parents arrived a few days before my brother and I and by the time we got there my mom had already had it with the place. It was not totally clean but my mom cleaned as much as she could with the supplies that were in the house.
The building itself was fine, secure, and conveniently located near two grocery stores, bus stops, a pharmacy, and a pizzeria. There was a subway/metro station and a shopping center also, about 10-15 mins walk and several tabacchi along the way. It was a pretty quiet neighborhood, removed from the craziness of the city center, which is why we chose it. Also, at the end of the street on the corner there is a fountain which was great. When the electricity was on, the air conditioning and wi-fi were great to have and there was also a balcony which I didn't remember seeing in the description. I'm sure it is nice to be out on in the spring and fall.
All in all I'd give the experience a C rating/2.5 out of 5, with points given for Alex being a nice person and for the neighborhood and points taken for the inconvenience of the electrical problem and the lack of cleanliness. I hope this review is helpful!
The apartment's electrical sistem is completely renewed 3 yers ago. It's forbidden by italian laws to rent an apartment without a safety certification, so the electrical system is perfectly safe. The breaker box is perfectly safe and it is three years old. It can become warm when there a to high electrical absorption. But the electrical power, like in all apartment, is not unlimited, so when the max power is overstepped the light goes out. For this reason, using electric bolier, air conditioning, dishwasher, washer-dryer machine, lights, and the other electric appliance at the same time is impossible. If Mrs Fisher doesn't know this, she could have let me know since I reply to all message by my guests in few time to solve their troubles.
About the cleaning, I monitor the cleaning everytime. The pots and the other kitchenware are everytime cleaned, but sometimes they could be stained by calcium, because Rome's water is full of calcium. Floors, bathroom, sheets, towels and everything is everytime perfectly cleaned.
I hope my reply is helpful!!
We didn't actually meet Alessandro. The cleaning lady let us in and showed us the basics in the apartment. She wasn't able to inform us about the bus lines or metro, so figuring it out for ourselves was a bit of a challenge. The apartment was well suited to accommodate 4. The kitchen was fabulous and well-equiped, the bedrooms were spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The only issue was that the hot water heater in the bathroom is small and provides warm water for 2 super short showers. Then it takes a long time to heat up enough water for additional showers. The location of the apartment was a bit far from the center if you're walking, but the walk to the busses is close. Everything you may need is close by (grocery store, bakery, fruit venders, gelato shops, ATM, etc) and the area feels very safe. Alessandro was quick to respond to my questions and he was generally very helpful. I would recommend this rental!
Exactly nice apartment with everything we need, and a supermarket is 3 min walk. It is big enough for 4 people and it has air conditioner in each room which is so nice in such hot days. It takes us 10 min to walk to the metro line A station which is a little bit far but it is convenient to travel by metro in Rome. Allesandro is a great host and he helps us a lot during our stay.
Alessandro was a great host! My friends and I took longer than expected to arrive towards his Airbnb but Alessandro kindly waited 30-45 mins for us. When we arrived, he taught us what we need to know about the place, area and also help us book a taxi for our ride to the airport for our departure. The closest metro station is a 10-15 min walk and the bus 628 isn't frequent to catch. The place was exactly as listed. The Airbnb has 1 queen bed, 2 single beds, and 2 pull out couches, enough room for 6 people to live comfortably. Excellent experience and would recommend it to others!
Roma is one the most beautiful city in the world (even more than Prague) :) and thanks to Alessandro apartment was our stay more beautiful. In the apartment is everything, metro is near (10 minutes walking), and they have very tasty pizza on the oposit site of the building. So I really recommend this apartment for everybody.
