Hi there! This used to be my home--and I loved every minute of it. I've since moved to nearby East Williamsburg.
It's a lovely condo loft (studio, with queen bed and queen futon) on a quiet block in Southside, Williamsburg. It's a 5 min walk from either the Bedford or Lorimer L stop, or Marcy JMZ stop. It's also 5 min by car/cab from the Lower East Side (Manhattan), or 10 minutes from downtown Brooklyn.
I own this place, and have put a lot of love and care into the design, comfort, and upkeep. The furnishings are all high end (Ligne Roset, Italian sofas). The bed is super comfortable, the kitchen fit for a chef, the balcony gorgeous on a sunny day. The shower is awesome--water softener with plenty of hot water. It's a very modern spot, and you will feel right at home.
There's plenty to do around here. On this block alone: Rye (restaurant), Banter (bar), Cotton Candy Factory (boutique), Billy's Marketplace (supermarket)...also a millenery (hat shop) and old-fashioned candy store. Around the corner: Bozu (sushi), Paul Smith (boutique), Fette Sau (BBQ), St Anselm (steak), Commodore (fried chicken), Blue Collar Burger (burger joint), spots for Vietnamese, Italian food, etc. We're also a 10-minute walk from Smorgasborg (outdoor Saturday food festival), Peter Luger Steakhouse, Diner (only the best spot in NYC), La Esquina, Radegast Biergarten, a ton of cafes and record shops, and other awesome places. Neighborhood street parking is easy!
I'm a food writer and cookbook author, so the kitchen is fully loaded with dishwasher, microwave, all appliances, gas stove, real wine glasses, chef's knives, etc. You'll have access to high-speed Wifi and a washer/dryer.
If interested, please send a blurb about yourself. No smokers please!
Wifi, AC and heat, washer-dryer, microwave, toaster, bathtub, the best shower ever, trash room.
I'm available just a few blocks away, but I give my guests all the space they need.
Walk out the door: across the street are a trendy supermarket and amazing brunch/dinner spot. World-class coffee abounds: Whirlybird, Gimme Coffee, Blue Bottle, Stumptown. Down the street is my favorite steakhouse (St. Anselm) and BBQ (Fette Sau). There are several boutiques within spitting distance (even a Paul Smith outlet), great bars, and music venues. Yet the quiet at night will make you feel like you're sleeping in a vault.
The place is between two L stops (Bedford/Lorimer), and 5 blocks from both the G train (Metropolitan) and JMZ (Marcy Avenue). We are one stop from Manhattan--5 minutes tops.
My cat Jabberwocky (pictured) USED to live here. We've since moved a few blocks away. So you won't have the responsibility, although I believe he was a boon for many prior stays.
Take good care of the place. Don't put knives or pots/pans in the dishwasher. If stowing bed, remove all sheets and pillows first.
We had a lovely experience staying in Jean's apartment. She was an amazing and accommodating host. She worked hard to make sure that all our needs were met and we stayed warm during the cold NY winter. The house is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is deluxe. I would highly recommend staying here.
I cannot say enough good things about our wonderful stay at this apartment, and how much Jean enhanced our experience as a host. The location of the apartment is in a great area, with tons of places to eat, drink, and be merry within walking distance - or if you prefer, to take a short walk to the nearest subway station and go anywhere you please. The apartment itself is exactly as described and was spacious and comfortable. Jean provided a quick list of details/instructions for inside the apartment and a convenient list of nearby eateries and entertainment, which we referenced several times. All that said, Jean was super fast in correspondence and extremely friendly in answering any other questions we had. She has set the bar very high for any other hosts in my future! Thank you Jean, we hope to be back soon!
We had a great time staying in Jean's lovely apartment. Williamsburg was a wonderful neighborhood, with cozy cafe's, restaurants and bars. Jean was the perfect host. She gave us all the information we needed and responded quickly to all of our questions before and during our stay. We would definitely recommend Jean's apartment to others and we would love to stay at Jean's place next time we're going to New York.
The apartment is exactly as described, comfortable, stylish and in an excellent location. Jean left all the information we would need out for us and responded really quickly to any queries. She also left lots of helpful info about the areas restaurants and bars. The location is excellent, close to lots of cool restaurants and bars and only a short distance to subway stations to head to Manhattan. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
Jean was very quick to respond to our questions about the listing and was genuine in trying to make ours a good experience. The neighborhood is up and coming and a nice break from the intensity of Manhattan.
We had a wonderful time in NY and Jean's beautiful appartment. The entire process was uncomplicated and very convenient. I highly recommend it.
Jean was a delightful host. She was always available and left a list of suggestions of must try near by places. We did and they were excellent.
The apartment is in the best location, it's clean and you will feel right at home. It was very different to our previous AirBNB experiences, as in the past, where we have stayed had been apartments purely for AirBNB guests. Jean's apartment is clearly her own, so you need to be aware of what is hers and what you can use.
We would definitely stay again next time we are in NYC.
