Me and my girlfriend had a great time staying at Yves's apartment.
The location is great with cafes and bakeries along the canal right around the corner, and a supermarket across the street. Metro station is just a five minute walk away.
Yves is a great host, really nice and friendly. Met us at the apartment although we got in pretty late from our flight, showed us around and gave us some pretty helpful tips that made our holiday much better.
We had a great time, and a lot of it is thanks to him.
It is a lovely place close to the center. The flat is really comfy and cosy and Yves is a really kind and correct host. Definitely worth to stay here!
A great location and a generous host. Yves really helps make the experience a good one.
Yves was an awesome host, ultra friendly and welcoming. The flat is indeed cozy, with great light and meticulously maintained, full of books and music. It had everything we needed and is easy to get to. Don't discount the stairs - they are a challenge!
We arrived at Yves' place in Paris, and he was waiting outside to let us in. He has a very comfy new bed and we had the whole place to ourselves. He let us have whatever we wanted from the kitchen (including a really nice bottle of red wine). He also talked with us for a little while after we arrived to welcome us to France and tell us about the place.
Wifi worked fine. The location is really great, only a couple of minutes walk from the metro, and down the street is the amazing Canal St Martin. There is a really nice bakery on this street, over the road from the metro station, where we went a few times - we basically only ate baguettes for breakfast, they were that good. Laundromat is also pretty close.
It was great time at Yves's place. We arrived late in the evening, just caught the last RER to Gare du Nord. It was about 15-20 min by feet to find this place.Yves waited us upstairs, told some things about his place and Paris, said "good night, guys, u can leave alone and do what u want". We like him very much, he is open-minded and kind person. It was always great pleasure to talk with him or spend some time together:))
We like this apartment at a glance! Very clean, full of books and CDs, very comfortable furniture...It has 2 rooms with windows in each other, so if u want much fresh air u can open both and enjoy! The beedroom is very quiet...The bed was extremely comfortabe!!! We slept well all the days.
Its situated in 10 arr, so u can go to the city centre by feet in 20-25 minutes, 10 min by metro to discover the beauty of Paris... Metro station is near the apartment, also near u can find many stores, restaurants-so anything u want!
Canal st.Martin is the best place for evening walk.
Also from Gare delEast there is a Night Bus station so u can easly go to/from the CDG airport..
If u decide to choose this apartment- be sure this is the right choice! :)
All the best,
Tatiana and Boris
Yves greeted us outside the apartment and showed us inside. The apartment is clean and tidy with everything we needed. We only stayed 1 night but we had a good experience at Yves place. It is also quiet at night time. Thanks Yves for letting us stay in your home. Hannah & Andy
Yves' flat is fairly tiny in the way that Parisian flats can be - and on the 5th (top) floor of a building without a lift, however it's ideally situated almost opposite a tube station which goes straight down to the Latin quarter, and within 50 yards of a Velib (free bikes) station. Yves himself couldn't have been more helpful, staying up until almost midnight to sort us out despite a late arrival, giving me an iphone cable and letting us check out late when my partner fell ill. The apartment (if you don't mind the puff up the stairs) is simple but has everything you need including fast wifi. The only tiny niggle was a broken shower clip but that wasn't a big enough deal to dock a star :) So in short as a budget base for seeing Paris it was (website hidden) go and eat at the homely little 'Pom' round the corner, wonderful food, service and a bargain for Paris.
Yves has a wonderful, clean apartment near the Canal Saint Martin, and I completely enjoyed and appreciated my stay there as well as being near the canal. Though he was out of town, Yves continued to stay in touch and make sure things were ok with me, and also forwarded me some recommendations I had asked for. Lovely place, very Parisian-feeling, quite a music collection, extremely comfortable bed in which I found myself sleeping quite soundly!
Yves is, as all the others have said, a good guy. Generous, responsive, and even invited my wife and I out to dinner with him and his girlfriend.
The appartment is practically across the street from a metro stop and a short walk from Gare de l'Est. It is a fairly typical Parisan appartment: small, sixth floor American (stairs only) , a bit "rustic", neighborhood is very typical Parisian working class.
If you've ever dreamed of moving to Paris (and aren't independently wealthy), and would like to see what it's like to live in a somewhat affordable neighborhood just outside of an unaffordable neighborhood (Canal St. Martin), this is a good opportunity. In fact, it was our main reason for choosing this appartment.
