We had a very enjoyable time staying at Elisabetta and Claudia’s apartment on Via Delle Ruote. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with two sizable bedrooms and a comfortable and functional kitchen with good natural light. The location is convenient, and we were within 10-minutes walk of most of the major museums, churches, and shopping areas. It is a quiet neighborhood, and the Carre Four Metro mini-supermarket just down the street is very convenient and could supply most of our daily needs.
The only downside to our stay was my inability to get my Windows PC to connect to the apartment’s Wifi network. We had no problem with our Apple devices, but be warned that the hosts were unable to make the system work with my PC, which I use for work. I was easily able to connect to the Wifi at the restaurant/café across the street, but was not a real solution, as because of the holidays the place was closed for much of our visit, and when it was open, its hours did not match well the times I needed access. This did handicap me during the holiday, which was a major inconvenience. If you are using Apple devices, you should have no problem, but for those using Windows, be warned that connection may be an issue. Elisabetta said she tried it with all of her computers, including Windows, and had no problem. I spent about an hour on the phone with our corporate IT support, and together we ran a number of tests. The outcome was that the signal coming from the Wifi was simply too weak, no matter where in the apartment I located the computer. But aside from this, all was good in the apartment, and we had an enjoyable stay.
A couple of additional notes: The building is several hundred years old, and that brings some minor problems that may not be fixable. When you enter the building on the ground floor, there is the smell of sewage, probably from a pipe leaking in the wall, but as soon as you climb the stairs, it is no longer noticeable. The apartment is on the 3rd floor (called 2nd floor in Italy), and Elisabetta and Claudia live on the 2nd floor.
Elisabetta was very responsive and kind, and aside from the Wifi issue, was very helpful in providing recommendations and doing her best to make sure we were comfortable.
On the same block as the apartment are some notable restaurants: an impressive vegetarian restaurant just 3 doors down to the right as you come out of the apartment, on the same side of the street; and a very good trattoria a couple of doors to the left on the same side of the street.
Very kid friendly and pet friendly.
Thank you John for staying with us, and thank you for the nice comment!
I'm so sorry your pc didn't connect with the wifi during the stay, I was surprised because since 2008 nobody reported this kind of problem. As you said I have a Pc and it works pretty well, the apartment has always been rented to people for work and they connected up to 5 pc in the same time during the Pitti expo....
Your family is always welcome back again in Florence, ciao John!!
We Stayed at Elisabettas apartment at the end of April 2014 for a week to celebrate my girlfreinds birthday. The apartment was very clean and well presented and communicating with Elisabetta, through Airbnb, mobile and text, was easy and she responded very quickly. Having someone locally look after you gives the added benefit of tips and tricks that made our visit to Florence even more amazing. Elisabetta also arranged a surprise birthday bouquet of flowers and champagne at a specific time to be in the apartment, a wonderful surprise very much appreciated by my girlfreind :). Elisabetta is a very nice and pleasant host, we would be very happy to stay at her apartment again and....it was much cheaper and better located than many of the hotels we looked at. Highly recommended and thank you Elisabetta for your wonderful hospitality :)
Thank you Terry for the nice review, we'll take your suggestions about mattress so seriously and consider to buy a new one, thank you again.
Regarding heating I'd like to explain you that according to the law in Florence the heating max time expires on 15 of April, due to the ecological reason to avoid pollution: only if in a very cold situation this time can be extended, but it wasn't this April case! Very high fee are required in case of switch on of the heating...
Anyway we can help guests in case of cold, next time please contact us!
We loved the apartment. It's spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We actually cooked a lot in the house, and everything we needed was there. A lot of good natural light, nice and quiet location. We didn't want to leave when the time came. The hosts made our stay incredibly easy.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Elisabetta and Claudia's apartment. Elisabetta was easy to communicate with before our arrival as well as when she met us at the apartment. She is warm and relaxed; it is quite evident she wants you to enjoy Florence and the apartment. Elisabetta was happy to give us recommendations on places to eat and they also have a binder with plenty of helpful information. The place is modern and very clean, and worked well for our party of five.
