Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • I spent 10 days in Iris' house and really enjoyed myself there. Iris was really helpful and hospitable. She was always available for help and always took great care of the house. The house itself was in great location, 5 min walk away from the bus station, from which it would take like 15 minutes to go from the bus to the subway. There were grocery's stores, food places, walgreen, cvs, etc. all around the neighborhood. Iris introduced us to a very good and cheap chinese restaurant, which was 10 minute walk away from the house. Overall, the experience was great and I highly recommend this for chicago travelers!

  • Nice and accommodating host. Would definitely return to her place.

  • The Master Bedroom was great for us. We were four people and had enough space. Also the extra entrance was perfect. So, we disturbed nobody when we came home late.
We had parked our car directly in front of the house. If you stay in a hostel you normally pay about $20 per night just for parking.
The walk to the subway is a little bit long but you can also use the bus then it's ok.
All in all we had a great time. Thanks for hosting us.

  • It was great staying here - the host was very nice, and it's a convenient place to the public transit - especially if you'll be in the southern parts of Chicago - I'd stay there again for sure!

    September 2012
  • Great Access to public transportation (minutes from 2 bus lines and within 1 mile of 2 subway and 1 metra lines)

    Clean, quiet & restufl.

  • House was clean and spacious and in an excellent location for the subway into the city. Very quick and easy to get into the loop and to the airport. Iris was a great host who couldn't of been any more helpful. She picked us up the station at 1am and offered to do our clothes washing. She made it clear she was only a phone call away if we needed anything. I would recommend anyone to stay at this house.

  • You definitely can't beat the price and Iris is a gem! It is a little bit of a dormitory feel but that makes it great. The others staying there were great and we spent a lot of time just sitting and talking together. The house is just 1 mile west of the White Sox ballpark and there is easy access to the Orange and Red lines of the elevated trains. I know Chicago and I was a little concerned about the neighborhood but found it to be a middle class, racially diverse population that is located just south of Chinatown.
This place is really a deal at this price.

  • was a wonderful woman Iris is a very nice and full of joy, hope to return at another time as it is a good place to stay near the city.

    July 2012
  • Iris offered to pick me up from the train station when I arrived. She also gave me a ride to the nearest train stations a few times during my stay at her place. She is kind and helpful. The other tenants staying in her flat were really friendly and nice.

There was some confusion initially as I had asked for a private room at the time of booking but apparently she had mixed it up and only had a bed in a shared space for me. However, she managed to move me to a private room in a couple of days.

Overall, I had a comfortable stay. The location is good, with downtown Chicago being a short bus and train ride. Iris is a kind host. I would not hesitate to recommend her place to someone looking for inexpensive accommodation in Chicago.

    June 2012
  • The room was in a quiet and well kept neighborhood. The apartment was clean and well maintained, had a comfortable bed in a nice room with a closet, and also a kitchen with use of microwave and refrigerator. It was only a block to a bus stop which took me to a train station about a mile away. There was a CVS and Walgreens a few blocks away. The train to the Loop/Milleniam Park was about a 15 minute ride. Iris was a wonderful host and very thoughtful and considerate. I would highly recommend her room. I am from California so it was a big change figuring out the transportation here, but the location was very close to everything we needed and Iris was very kind in helping us figure things out.

I came originally from Hong Kong as a student. I work together with Linda, as seen in the picture, for the temporary rental business. I love hosting, being hospitable to strangers. It helps me to know people from all over the world. I believe in the teaching of the Bible. The foremost commandment is to love the Lord, your God with all your heart, all your might and all your soul, and similar to it is to love your neighbor as yourself. By receiving strangers into my house, in fact, is to fulfill one of the biblical principles, being hospitable. I love my guests. Most of them are clean and courtesy. It also teaches and matures how to deal with difficult people. I love my business and my guests. Iris
