Welcome to our earth bag villa on top of a hill overlooking the Andaman bay below. Our villa features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms set on a spacious 1,600 Sq. meters of land the property also features the private use of a large bamboo yoga Sala and a 40 Sq. meters swimming pool, and rock inspired BBQ. The house was built over 2 levels so there are a number of stairs throughout the property these stairs were built from the lock rocks we dug up during excavation.

The space
Bedrock home is a unique creation of 6 circular earth bag rooms connected together by a small network of tunnels. The whole building process we used as much of what we had available on site as possible, rocks from the excavation became the patio, sticks and trees became tables and lamps, the earthen plaster and floors came from the excavation site as well. With the earthen walls there is a massive thermal value to the walls and the vaulted bamboo roof meaning there is a natural air conditioning then flows through the house, the outside temperature is almost always 5-10 degrees higher than it is inside the house.

The bedrock home was built to inspire ourselves to believe in the impossible as we've never built a house before and our fiends who helped with the build have also never built a home before (as many people who build earth bag homes). The house has a few rules: no (or very few) right angles, as many elements of nature should be used as possible, and the house will be completely off the grid (both electrical and water) by 2022 (now were already off government water.

We've very proud of the bedrock and would love to share our home with the world. Amid this pandemic we hope The bedrock can help to inspire others to not loose faith and to dream out loud.

Guest access
You have full access to the house and garden around the property. The house, pool and patio area cover almost 500 Sq. meters of the land. You also have access to our rock BBQ, yoga sala (we can arrange a private yoga teacher to come offer private lessons if you would like). We have a small garden adjacent to the bedrocks land which we have to come to check up on time to time but we will arrange this schedule at check in. We understand your privacy is of utmost importance.

Other things to note
There are a number of stairs in the house which can be difficult for some, but the fact that your walking on real river rock (locally harvested) makes it all worth it. but if stairs are a problem this might be an issue.

1 bedroom (master bedroom) doesn't require any stairs to get up into so if there is one member in your group who has an issue with stairs then they could stay in this bedroom.

The ceilings are open aired (covered but significant ventilation is able to come through) so also the sounds of the night will also come through. We love this feeling of nature immersion and can't get enough of this.

I am have been living in Krabi since 2010 with my American husband. Together we take care of a number of properties in the greater Ao Nang area so if you find one of our properties isn't up to your standards get in touch and we can recommend another better suited for your needs. I lave taking photos so I'm often out and about shooting the beauty of Krabi while my husband is managing general handyman work on our properties and also making videos. We enjoy good beer, socialising and learning more about other cultures so if you'd like us to stick around after check in let us know and we'll bring up some garden veggies, beers and we'll make a BBQ!
