About This Listing
Welcome! We invite you to log off and disconnect in our peaceful home situated in the heart of a historic, partially-gated neighborhood called Wellington Square. A second and third bedroom called "Mahalo" and "Ohana" are offered for larger groups.
Our gorgeous Spanish Revival house was built in 1922 and showcases original mahogany woodwork, lighting and Batchelder tiled fireplace, and original tiled bathroom. Our picturesque home has been featured in a commercial in Japan.
This listing is for one huge bedroom (350 sq. ft.) for up to four (4) people. We've nicknamed this space "Aloha". There is a queen-sized bed and an extra queen futon mattress as needed. We also have other bedrooms "Mahalo" and "Ohana" available in the same house. Or if you prefer your own private house, we offer the three bedroom Japanese Retreat "Tatami House" (photo shown above). Mark and Chomchay's home provided an exceptionally comfortable stay and exceeded my expectations of an Airbnb. The house and room are very large and spacious, with beautiful aesthetic. I also appreciated the calm, quiet and peaceful the atmosphere it provided. It is clear that the hosts take pride in their home and in hosting guests, given how clean, tidy and intentionally laid out everything was (i.e. clear and convenient instructions around the house, labelled spaces for guests to place their personal items, timely communication, and a friendly, helpful hostess). It was a pleasant surprise that access to laundry, iron, kitchen, including filtered water, and fruit from the garden were included. The only surprise I wasn't expecting is that Mark and Chomchay are no longer at the house, so I didn't get to meet them, but there was another hostess/housekeeper there instead, who was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and certainly above average place to stay.
My room is very nice and the location is perfect for me. I like the decorations in the house. It's the second time I use airbnb, totally satisfied.
We travelled in LA with a friend and stayed at Mark and Chay for 3 nights in Aloha room. Everything was great! The location is convenient if you are driving. The neighborhood is pleasant. The house is super cute and clean. Nil - the housekeeper - was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a good stay!
This was my first AirBnB experience, and I think it will be hard to find anything, at a reasonable price, that will rival it. It was great.
I have never seen a cleaner house (it is a shoeless house to help keep it clean), and it was so comfortable and accommodating. My room was incredibly large.
I was very surprised that the neighborhood was so very nice and serene. Areas nearby are somewhat blighted, but this neighborhood is a dignified old suburb, only about five miles from downtown, incredibly convenient to the freeway, designated by the City as a Historic District, and closed to through traffic. The house has been impeccably restored, and has the relaxed character of the solid middle class from ninety years ago.. So this house is correctly called an Urban Retreat, though most guests may use it only for a place to sleep.
My friends and I had a great experience staying in this beautiful home. We were greeted at our arrival with a warm welcome. The host thoughtfully labeled things around the house to help guide us and help us feel more at home. The backyard is beautiful, the neighborhood quiet, and the house immaculate.
I would like to say only one thing, It was amazing!!!!, One of the nicest house what I ever (website hidden) group was so happy, we felt comfortable. Everything was nice and clean. Neighbourhood is quiet and nice as well. We unfortunately could not to meet with Mark and Chomchay, (maybe next time):) but Nil was great host. if we going to Los Angeles next time we would like to live there Thank you!! Michal
I had a wonderful weekend staying at Mark & Chomchay's! I unfortunately didn't get to meet them, but Nil was a gracious host. The house is gorgeous and immaculate, and the Japanese garden in the backyard is quite serene. I felt very comfortable and slept well in the Aloha room. This was my first AirBnB experience, and now I'm officially hooked. :) I will definitely consider staying with them again the next time I'm in LA!
