Great location! We walked everywhere without any issue. Loved getting to experience the city like a local.
The host was out of town and made sure that someone was there to greet me. He also sent detailed instructions (that I didn't notice at first) and responded right away when I asked for details. :-)
The property is beautiful and inviting. I wish I'd had more time to lounge on one of the decks.
I had a lovely time staying here! I did not actually meet Michael as he was out of town, but the check-in and checkout process were incredibly easy. The room was stocked with everything I could need and the mattress IS AMAZING. Between that and the amazing view from my little balcony I didn't want to leave my room! Exploring the house and all the little nooks and gardens was cool. Despite the fact that it had full tenancy I only saw another guest once. Easy walking distance to a lot of stuff and easy parking. Definitely will stay again if in SD.
What can I say, Michael's place lived up to the hype. Everything was very organized and just like in the description. The place was clean and very nicely decorated. Michael had to be away for the two nights I stayed there (Green Room), but his assistants were very helpful in getting people settled in, explaining how to use the house, and offering knowledge of how to best explore the city. The closest attraction was Little Italy which was just a short walk away. Balboa Park was also within walking distance. The rest of the city was very accessible via public transit or bicycle. I would certainly be willing to stay here again.
It was a pleasant stay for holiday in San Diego. Green room comes with its own balcony facing the city and an external shower (although didn't use it since weather was chilly). House has character and very clean. Would stay again when visiting San Diego.
The room had a different layout than the picture listed, but was basically the same. The bed was super soft, and the views from the room were cool.
Parking was an issue for us, and we ended up having to park several blocks away each night. We were also told that the planes flying above have a curfew at 11pm but heard them flying above around midnight and 1am. ear plugs are provided, but that is something to consider when booking this place.
Room had a brand new and better bed put in so I guess i need to take a new picture of bed, never would have thought that would be an issue. Regarding parking girls stayed out till 2 am and when I explained that San Diego is a Major City and even though parking is free, two blocks is not considered bad when you return at 2 am i was met with other issues by them Girls found a lot to complain about as though they were looking for a free stay. but please read other reviews.
The house was wonderful. We were greeted by Heather, who offered us a tour of the house before turning our room. (We'd taken a self-guided tour upon arrival.) We stayed in the Green room, which is both spacious and inviting. The outdoor shower and sitting area overlooks the city and the water, which was a great way to start every morning. (Don't worry, there's a curtain. Also, you turn the shower on from hot to cold water, not the normal way from cold to hot, so turn it just a little bit and you're set.) The room stayed pretty cool during the day, but got a bit warm at night (thanks to an afternoon of sunlight), so be prepared to open the outside door for a little bit before bedtime if you like the room to be cooler.
We didn't spend much time in the common areas, but there are several places for people to gather and enjoy themselves. The bathrooms were very nice and thoroughly cleaned, which felt good since we were sharing the house with several people. Michael et. al also provide earplugs; a nice touch, since airplanes do fly directly over the house when coming in to land. They also provided snacks and pastries for the Comic-Con goers for breakfast, which was very kind.
The house is not too far from the Gaslamp, but because of the time-sensitive nature of the convention, we took Lyfts to and from the house. We never waited more than a couple minutes for a ride. Still, the house is one block over from a straight shot to downtown, so walking would not be a problem at all.
We would absolutely, without a doubt, stay here again. In a heartbeat.
