Bula Vista is a unique holiday rental in Fiji on the beautiful and unspoilt northern island of Vanua Levu. We have a stunning view of the Savusavu Harbour, and its great to watch the boats coming and going and the weather moving across the sky, as well as superb sunsets. The accommodation has been designed to be low tech and very simple but extremely comfortable and relaxing. We have a main cabin and two tents available for additional guests - up to 5 total.
You will enjoy stunning views of the Savusavu Harbour, a real Fijian style outdoor living experience, modern bathroom facilities, ocean breeze cooling, and comfortabel bed and linens.
We have designed this location as a place you can relax and really enjoy the real Fiji. Our garden is designed with the idea of giving guests the opportunity to pick their own fruit for breakfast if they desire. Pineapples, mango, papayas, bananas, limes, lemons as well as low growing coconut trees provide a great opportunity to eat really fresh and fragrant tropical fruit grown with organic techniques.
This self-contained accommodation is minutes from Savusavu town - a FJD$3.50 taxi ride and also very handy to the airport about 2 kilometres away. Beaches, snorkling and adventure activities are also very close.
You will be met at the airport or ferry when you arrive if you require a pick up (please advise).
The accommodation has been created from a beautiful blue 20 foot container, painted white inside, with a varnished hardwood floor and fully screened with two windows and a ranch slider. It comes with a queen size bed, refridgerator/freezer and writing desk. It has a roof over the top and a wrap around deck with outdoor kitchen/living room and stunning views. There is a lounging couch, 4 directors chairs, a table, and 3 ring gas burner for cooking. We provide a small washing machine and line drying is available.
The accommodation comes equipped with linens, towels, soap, cooking implements and a starter pack of food and consumables.
The toilet and shower are nicely finished with tiles and all the water goes through a 4 stage filtration system from the pump. Water is sourced primarily form the roof, however town water is also available. We hold 15,000 litres on the property. Diversions for rainy days are provided with a DVD player & DVD's, CD player and extra speakers for your iphone, as well as a collection of books and games. We provide a phone for local calls and a list of taxis and other contacts. You top this phone up when required.
Savusavu has great restaurants and a small yacht club and marina which both have waterfront bars. There is also a Planters Club which was established by some of the earlier colonial copra plantation owners. About 300 yachts a year come through here and the town is home to many interesting locals and expats. Boat and inland tours of various kinds are available. Rental cars and scooters can also be found locally, and we can provide info as required. There is a full compendium of local contacts inside the cabin.
There is a great local market, several banks, ATMs and supermarkets as well as a post office and ships chandler.
The location has great internet and cell phone coverage, and we recommend you purchase a local prepay internet stick if you need to get online at the bure. There are several internet cafes in town as well.
There is accommodation for 2 persons (and a young child) in the cabin however we also have two tents we put up on the yoga pavillion with air mattresses, linens etc. if there are additional guests, children etc. - POA for this.

Everything about my experience with Liz was great. She is very professional and always responded quickly to my inquiries. The property is beautiful and she has several people available in Fiji to help with anything you may need while in Savusavu.
The container home is amazingly situated, 5 minutes from town, and with the best view you can imagine. The hosts gave us lots of advice on the activities available around Savusavu.
We had five amazing days in Bula Vista!
Liz was a great host, very diligent in her communication and made sure my husband had a great stay at Bula Vista. Shirah the taxi driver and guide gets a special mention for his warm and knowledgeable hospitality. Thanks Liz and Shirah!
We enjoyed our stay in the unique container-room overlooking Savusavu. The room is simple and yet very comfortable and conveniently furnished with a lot of extras. The DVD player and the large movie selection were a nice touch, and we also appreciated that there was a phone we could use to call a cab and communicate with the host about a checkout question we had. The shower/bathroom and outdoor kitchen on the porch are nice and clean and stacked with everything you need.
We spent many hours just sitting on the porch reading or talking to Penny, their 77 year old housekeeper who does a great job taking care of the garden, everything is kept immaculate and tidy. Savusavu is a nice little town, people were very friendly and we often got offered rides without even asking. Which was convenient because going back up to Bula Vista from town is quite a bit of a walk. If you want to hang out at the beach or swim, you have to go a bit further, by taxi.
We had some difficulties getting to the island at the intended time because the ferries didn't run like we thought, and Liz was very helpful giving us information and options, called us from New Zealand and arranged easy key collection and pick up so it all worked out fine.
Bula Vista was amazing and was the perfect place to relax for a few days. Savusavu is a cool town and has everything you need for a holiday. This place is really convenient to town and super comfortable. Liz was very easy to deal with and places/hosts like these are what make Airbnb such a great alternative to traditional accomodation.
If your spending a few days on the island, look no further, you will love this place!
Awesome view :-), convenient location, interesting little town, good snorkeling in the vicinity!
We have loved our stay at Bula Vista. The spacious veranda overlooking Savusavu bay allows you to live the entire day outdoor, enjoying Mother Nature’s spectacle. Liz and Kevin are thoughtful hosts and lovely people, we are happy we got the chance to meet them and spend some time together.
