A meeting with Foster is a treat in itself. His schedule was such on the day of our arrival that he was there to check us in. He volunteered to collect us from the Bart Station which was unanticipated but very much appreciated. The location is truly close to downtown Rockridge and the Bart. There is a real sense of neighborhood and yet a sense of seclusion. The property has a meandering drive, best way I can explain it, so you are above and set back from the street. The gardens surround the house. It is hard to describe, but out of every door and there are many, you step into the gardens. They are well maintained and were blooming on our visit. So Foster is great, the location is great, the gardens are great and the "house", well it is beyond expectation! It was my good fortune to be the "owner" for a few days. So, thank you to Mr. Maybeck and Foster.
Foster was helpful and welcoming. The place is simply amazing... perfect for art and architecture lovers. I was surprised when Foster was there during the time I had the location rented. He informed me that airbnb would not cover the art that was in the house and he wanted to protect his investment, which was understandable. It was disappointing as I was expecting full privacy but we came to a last minute compromise... in the future I will be more clear with owners on this topic.
This is an absolutely spectacular house with incredible history. Even though it's practically in my backyard it was well worth the stay to experience all this house has to offer. Each and every day had something new to discover and appreciate.
It is a visual feast.
The house is warm, comfortable and each room is unique.
The light, airiness and connectedness to nature is unprecedented for a house of this era and the allure is striking.
It's a step back in history with a contemporary flair and one not readily available or accessible to discover.
It is convenient to so many things, yet secluded and private.
I rented the house for a surprise Birthday present and once inside we literally didn't ever want to leave.
Foster is an incredibly wonderful host and his love of the house is quite evident. He is the perfect steward in protecting its character and significance in architectural history.
He is also a very informative and kind person. All our interaction was very pleasant and he made everything comfortable and easy for the time there.
It was a lifelong memorable experience to stay here and we thank Foster for making it so.
Fabulous home in a prime location. Foster was a pleasure to deal with. We really enjoyed our visit and will hopefully rent this house again.
