YOU KAYAK TO THE BOAT. Rustic accommodations! Budget "boat camping" ideal for 2 backpackers/adventure travelers. The 22-ft sailboat is fun, cute, & anchored in a shallow channel, roughly a 4-mile drive from Duval St. Access from the boat to shore is a 5-min kayak ride & free to use. Come & go as you please using the kayak. There are bars, restaurants, mangrove trails & cool things near the boat. Arrive before sunset for initial check in. No Night check ins, NO self check in.

The space
Sailboat camping on the anchor for adventurers, kayak included! The boat is NOT a shared space. It's all yours.

This is minimalist style camping on a boat & is NOT in a marina, but a shallow channel which is accessed by YOU KAYAKING TO IT.

Surrounding water is 10-ft deep, and this boat is the furthest of our boats from shore (still only a short 5 minute kayak ride). This boat name is The TURTLE! Your stay includes unlimited use of kayaks which YOU NEED TO GET TO the boat... (Sorry for repeating this, somehow it still gets missed).

This listing lets you come & go as you want on your own 24/7 (after initial check in) The boat is only for sleeping on, not sailing.

Free street parking nearby 7-10 minute walk from the dock.

We are located on a channel without a lifeguard, so knowing how to swim is REQUIRED.

Please note that that boat accommodates up to 4 Guests (tightly). Extra charge applies for more than 2 guests which is automatically adjusted when you enter the CORRECT guest count.

We don't have unlimited kayaks so it is very important you tell us if you need to change the guest count. Don't just show up with extra people. It's not an apartment where you can just crash on a couch ;) Extra beds have to be rowed in from shore. Thanks for understanding on this :)

KEY POINTS:

1. Primitive "camping" on a sailboat means NO ELECTRICITY or running water but there is a shared land based tiki shower and solar shower (hanging camp bag) on the boat. Solar power (NOT THE SAME AS ELECTRICITY) runs the lights.

A Porta-Potty is provided on the outside deck, which can be taken inside for privacy. There are curtains to use for outside deck privacy.

2. Around 4 to 5 miles to Duval/Old Town by car. FREE overnight parking is nearby on a side street, but takes a few minutes to walk to.

3. NOT IN A MARINA. You will kayak to the boat. This boat is the furthest one of our fleet to shore. It takes about 5-min. We have other boats that are closer. Check Boatcamping d0t 0rg or ask us :)

4. Small space ideal for two people. We set ONE double triangle bed up for 2 guests. Otherwise there is a padded bench.

5. Check in is between 1:00-6:00pm. Please communicate what time you expect to be there so someone is on site. We do NOT have self check in and are NOT available in the evenings to meet. After check in you can come and go as much/late as you want using the kayaks.

6. During high winds kayaking can be a little challenging. During calm weather the channel is an easy paddle, but we can't predict the weather. You should be in relatively good shape. Kayak has a 250 pound weight limit.

7. There is no way to cook onboard, just a cooler for you to store snacks. We are working on getting a grill on the land launch point (feel free to check if it's available yet).

This space is basically an unusual & peaceful place to lay your head & live like a pirate (practically camping). There is no air conditioning (but we provide a usb ports for your charge your phone and plug in the led lights). This is done using SOLAR power. It's not he same as electricity and is for SMALL devices only (phones, cameras, etc). No hairdryers, coffee makers, hair straighteners, or anything you can put in a USB port.

The ceilings are low - you won't be able to stand up. We provide locks for gear.

Anything you bring must travel over water by kayak, keep that in mind when packing.

Catch the sun slip below the horizon, watch egrets & other birds soar by, & gaze up at the stars. Open the top hatch above your head & fall asleep to a breeze and stare up into the night sky. See the fish jump & listen to the sounds of nature. Some guests have even seen dolphins and manatee while exploring the area around the boat.

On a rare occasion, you may see bio-luminescence in the water.

It is an experience in its own but you must be ok with basic camping amenities. There is no bathroom just a Porta-Potty, and the mattress is comfortable.

We provide:

*A small cooler (can hold a few drinks or sandwiches)

*Headlamps (We do recommend bringing additional flashlights).

*Bed linens - fresh sheets for the mattress, blankets, & pillowcases

*Bath towels

*Porta-Potty & toilet paper (which we empty & clean, hence the cleaning fee).

*One to two kayaks with paddles (depending on number of guests.) which you can have unlimited use of. There are some awesome mangrove-lined channels near the boat you can explore that feels like you are in another world.

*Life Jackets and all necessary safety equipment required by the Coast Guard.

ROUGHING IT:

Fun & adventurous. It is an affordable option in town & ideal for people who like to be in touch with nature, learn about the world of boating, & want to see a different side of the the Keys.

We clean the boat regularly but it isn't a dazzling work of art. It's an old live-aboard boat that we are breathing new life into specifically to give budget travelers another option.

Sorry, no pets.

The entire boat is yours (NOT A SHARED BOAT) to sleep on.

CLOSE THE BOAT WHEN NOT ONBOARD!! We Charge a FEE if it RAINS INSIDE YOUR BOAT BECAUSE YOU DIDN't Close it. Very important!

You must secure the gear. Kayaks/paddles/life jackets. We show you how to do this. If you don't & the gear floats away/goes missing we have to charge you for it. Kayaks are not cheap. Take the extra second or two to double check that it is attached.

We have both tandem & single kayaks. While we try to accommodate everyone based on size, skill level or preference, we cannot guarantee one type of kayak or the other. It's what is available, so both guests should be capable of kayaking.

We do recommend having a working phone.
