  • The apartment is very cozy and in a wonderful location near great restaurants and the historical sights. Gian met us upon arrival and gave us a few ideas of where to eat and where to buy groceries. We tried several times later in our stay to contact him when we had a few issues with the washing machine and the toilet, but we were unable to reach him.

  • Gian is a very nice guy and arranged a car to pick up us from the airport for $50 Euro for 4 people. He is very well organized and provided us a lot of information or transportation. This apartment is very convenient, it has a best cafe downstairs, laundry place and grocery stores. By the way, I highly recommend to take Segway tours in Rome with segwayfunrome, com. Great experience in Rome!

  • Gian was a very nice and responsive host! Although he wasn't able to meet us on the first day, but we agreed to meet on the next day and he helped us with all our requests. The apartment is in the process of renovation but 4 of us still felt comfortable. The location is superb! Lots of bars and delicious restaurants + metro and Termini station! TV or radio will make it absolutely lovely!

  • I will start by qualifying this review by stating that my wife and I are Americans and despite our best efforts, have American tastes and expectations.

My impression is that Gian is a kind and respectful fellow. My wife and I were completing our trip of four weeks in Italy with a two-night stay in Rome. We wanted to be somewhat centrally located, so we chose Gian's apartment.

The apartment is located in the Monti district, near the Colosseum, in a six story building that appears to have been converted into a series of smaller apartments. The building has a small lift, like many similar European B&Bs and hotels. The front door is secure and is opened with a key and there's a buzzer system to let people in from the apartment, but the front door is very heavy and doesn't close automatically; it would be easy to leave it unlocked if one wasn't attentive.

The apartment has three sleeping areas: a windowless bedroom, a futon in the living area and a loft accessed by a spiral staircase that we didn't use. I prefer a dark bedroom, so from that standpoint it was good for me. However, the bed was very uncomfortable for me, as the mattress was supported by an older steel spring frame that resulted in the mattress caving in towards the center of the frame. Also, the room was very noisy. My wife sleeps like a rock under most conditions, but I heard people walking around and talking until midnight and each step resounded loudly, so if you're a light sleeper, perhaps you'd be best choosing another location.

We noticed that the toilet was not actually bolted down and rocked a bit when you sat on it. Not good. Although the bath towels were of okay quality, there were no spares - only enough for two people for a couple of days. And, while we were only staying for two nights, it would have been better to have spares on hand, just in case.

On our final night, just as we were getting ready to go to dinner around 8:00 pm, we heard a knock at the front door. It was Gian, stopping by because he had left some bit of paper/information in the apartment. This was odd, not welcome or appropriate.

On the positive: the WiFi worked well and quickly, hot water was good and the water pressure was okay.

  • Thanks Gian. Great location and even though we had trouble with the door lock you were on hand to help ensure that the lock was repaired. Also it appears you have done some renovations so you should update your photos. The wonderful area of Monti is nearby with great food and a great vibe. This was my first airbnb experience and I have no hesitation in recommending Gian's accomodation.

  • Good location, still renovating, thin walls.
Gian is so nice and is extremely helpful with loads of great neighborhood tips. The apartment was still being renovated, though near completion when we got there. This was a shame as we didn't know this when we booked. The walls are thin as this is an old building so if the neighbors are around you'll know about it.
Location is superb, close to station and the colosseum and in a nice neighborhood.
