Please note- this is an old(er) house and the furnaces are located within a closet within the room. Therefore- be forewarned that you can hear the heater/AC turn on and off. However, I have never had to use the heat, and barely use the AC in the summer because these rooms receive residual from the other spaces in the house. Additional space heaters and box fans are available.

Additionally, you may also make request that instruments be removed from the rooms for additional floor space.
The building is centrally located in Pittsburgh within walking, biking, or driving distance of anything including supermarket and restaurants, bars, liquor store, beer store, gas station/mini-mart. 10 minute walk to downtown, PNC Park (baseball), Heinz Field (football), Convention Center, the Consol Arena, the National Aviary, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Mattress Factory Museum, New Hazlett Theater, Heinz History Center, Strip District Markets (and nightclubs), The Priory Grand Hall (wedding hall), and public transportation including Greyhound, Megabus, Amtrak, and the 28X "Airport Flyer" public bus ($3.75 each way). Large park across the street. Police patrolled area, and hospital ER is within 1 minute. Entrance/exit to Interstate 79 in under 1 minute will connect you to any other major highway and the tollways.
Host is native Pittsburgher who knows everything about sites, nightlife, etc. and can make informed recommendations. Also can drive/pickup at airport, bus stations, etc., or give tours, for additional fees (or for nothing/ beer) depending on personal availability and/or circumstances. In general, evening arrivals and departures have a better chance of host-provided transportation- The host also lives at the property on another separate floor. There is also a female who lives at the property on another separate floor and has access to the kitchen but honestly, she is there maybe 1 time per month because she travels.
I get AirBnb on my phone and I am likely to respond to you if: you have a completed profile page with photos, verification, and reviews, etc., and briefly state your intentions for travelling to Pittsburgh (i.e. conference?, baseball game?, etc.)
I also book to touring bands and other groups privately and sometimes it does not reflect on the calendar. Any availability is subject to review.
Notes on pricing/other conditions:
I can negotiate a lower rate for parties of 2 or less only- . 3 or more people the rate is what is listed. The maximum amount of allowed people in the listing may vary because sometimes couples share the same bed.
Small dogs and cats without claws are ok. Cats with claws please bring a crate. Pets may require additional fees or security deposit depending on the animal. My personal experience with pets: I had a cat once that would drink the Jacuzzi water but it did not seem to get sick. The Jacuzzi water contains a mild chemical similar to chlorine. If your pet drinks the Jacuzzi water and gets sick, or for some reason your pet drowns in the Jacuzzi, I will not be liable and it is my intention that this written warning indemnify me from legal action resulting from your pet.
The Jacuzzi I consider an added bonus to your stay- it requires major cleaning and me giving you a very brief set of directions on how to operate. If you do not intend to use the Jacuzzi, please say so, and the cleaning fee may be waived. However- this must be stated in advance, so at the end of your stay, if you do not end up using the Jacuzzi please do not ask for any refunds. I assume any guest that books wants to use the Jacuzzi.
The Jacuzzi should be treated as a "spa". It requires gas to heat the tub, and if for some unknown reason, you use the Jacuzzi 3 times a day for 5 days, I may ask that you pay an additional fee to offset the price of the gas and electricity. Additionally, if you "accidentally" leave the heat switch on for long periods of time (longer than 24 hours)- I may ask for a small fee. The Jacuzzi is cleaned regularly, however, the chlorine-like chemical makes the water slightly foggy- this is not "dirty" and should not reflect upon the cleanliness rating of the house.
Lastly, if you intend to have a "party" with lots of people outside of your immediate group renting the space (i.e. 2 people rent the space and have over 40 friends that go to college nearby), this must be fully discussed in advance and may require additional fees, security deposit, or waiver.

Alex's place is great....looks just as advertised with the added bonus of a Nintendo 64 complete with Mario Kart and Goldeneye. If you're in Pittsburgh, this is a great place to stay, and Alex is a great host.
The place was just as pictured and it was lots of fun. Alex was friendly, laid back and very helpful. He gave us a tour of the city and even brought us up to a great scenic look out spot. Would definitely book again. Thanks Alex!
Very pleased we chose to stay at Alexander's 70's-esque Chalet. He gave us great recommendations of places to go to eat and listen to music. The apartment itself has a ton of character. Will be staying there again on my next trip to Pittsburgh.
Staying at Alexander's place was incredible. We were attending a concert that (email hidden), which is just a quick walk from the location. The apartment was more than we could have expected. Spacious, well appointed, convenient location. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing a great dinner, the huge deck has a fabulous view of the Pittsburgh city skyline, and plenty of sleeping space to accommodate all of our guests. And Alexander was the ultimate host- he made sure we had everything we needed when we got there, and even offered to give us a ride back from Stage AE after the concert. I can't recommend Alexander's Chalet highly enough. If you're going to be attending an event on the North Side (Pirates game, Steeler's game, concert at any of those places) you should really check out this great pre/post event location.
It was a great stay at Alex's place. He was very accommodating and fun to hang out with. He has a nice place in a great location. I will definitely look him up next time I'm in Pittsburgh.
Alex was AWESOME! He was super warm and chill and really went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Highly recommended :D
Alex was a wonderful host, he made sure I had everything I needed and was very thoughtful and considerate. I would love to stay with him again!
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Alex was a fantastic host - he made sure we had rides, knew how to get around, and seemed like a genuinely nice and conscientious person. The place was as advertised. One added bonus I hadn't considered were all of the books, music, art, and random knicknacks laying about. We had a short trip but this would definitely be a good place to spend more than a day or two!
Alex was an excellent host! He is very friendly and accommodating. The house is beautiful! I would definitely stay here again!
