House Rules

Dear Guest,
Please feel at home and take the necessary precautions, so that this house will be safe as your own one.
Lock the door when you come in or go out and close the windows at night before falling asleep. Be sure that the door at the entrance of the building is closed as well. Not everybody is lucky as you are and maybe someone could have not found a place to spend the night: street people could come in and sleep inside. After all, this is Istanbul.
The name of the network you find in the apartment is cookpoint or cookpoint_roof . The password is the same for both of them: cookpoint2011

How to use air conditioning
To turn on the air conditioning push the ON-OFF button. When the control is in the 'hot' position the conditioning blows hot air and heats the room. The recommendable ideal heating is 28°C .
When the control is in the 'cold' position the conditioning blows cold air and cool the room. The ideal temperature is 20°C . Get help from the marks 'hot' and 'cold' on the remote control.
Filters are regularly cleaned and the pressure of the air conditioners systematically checked.
If you have any problems with the air conditioning please get help by our staff.

How to use the television
When the television and the satellite device is connected to electricity, the light on the devices must be on. On the tv control is written VESTEL, the satellite control is the RED one with the written DIGITURK.
The first step to use the TV with full HD broadcast system is to choose the HDMI mode by pushing the
arrows buttons with the written SOURCE on the VESTEL labelled control.
If on the satellite device does not appear the channel number örn:0021, turn it on by pushing the on-off buttons on the RED DIGITURK control.
Please follow these steps and, if the channels don't work, get help by our staff personally or on the phone.

Curtains
Our curtains do not let the sunlight come in once inside the room is dark. So don't expect to be woken up by the sunrise in the morning if the curtains are closed. If you want to enjoy the Istanbul taste, don't forget to set the alarm.

How to use the kitchen and the equipment
Feel free to use all the equipment you find in the kitchen as at your own home. As you know, downstairs on the earth floor there is our restaurant 'Cook Point', where you can get any eventual missing part of the kitchen equipment. After your stay we expect to find the equipment clean and ready to use just as you found it as you came. An extra cleaning of the kitchen is not included in the price. Obviously it is your responsibility not to break or burn the equipment. If we find any damaged piece we will charge it to you.

WC and Bathroom
Once you use the toilet, please throw the toilet paper in the bin next to you. Please do not throw paper or any other foreign body in the wc. Since this is an historical building, a clogging may cause uncomfortable problems. Anyway, feel free to use the wc-bathroom as at home.

To remedy eventual home accidents such the spill or fall of drinks and food on the floor, on the table, on the bed or wherever, you can use the broom and the bucket, as well as the doormat and the towels you have in the room. Don't worry: we will bring you new towels and provide a cleaning services.

Terrace
Feel free to use our terrace as you prefer: to relax, to take picture or eat (you can even do a barbecue!).
There are only two conditions on your use of terrace: the first one is to be careful and not to annoy anybody (don't forget that it is for communal use), the second rule is to leave the terrace as you found it. After you use it you can bring your garbage to your room or throw it in the container at the beginning of the street.

Garbage
Since this building does not provide a 24 hours cleaning service and the flats are for individual use, each guest must throw his garbage by himself in the blue container at the beginning of the street. Please do not leave it inside the building and be careful not to soil the floor.

In general, if there was anything wrong concerning the room or if you should find yourselves in an uncomfortable situation, please inform us and ask for help.

Honestly, except for the great location, our experience was quite bad. First of all we never actually saw the flat we had booked as the staff had given it away to other people a few hours before our arrival. On the following day of our arrival we were moved to another flat on the fourth floor of the same building of the flat we had booked. The flat, even though seemingly nice at first was not at all kept well. The smell of sewer permeated throughout the flat during the whole of our stay (which was mainly due to the two water shortages we had and probably a poor water pipe system). The ceiling in the bathroom was also moldy. Another problem was with wifi: we had connection on the first night and that was it. The router stopped working on the second day of our stay and, despite several claims on our behalf, no effort was done to provide us a service we had payed for. Overall, I don't think I would choose this or any other of their flats again. They are a company that rents apartments acting as if they were a hotel, but they lack heavily in hospitality and taking care of their properties.

Very disappointed with this accommodation. The accommodation was not clean, there was a strong smell of sewerage coming through the kitchen sink and the bathroom, as well as mould in the shower. We also had cockroaches in the kitchen. We did not meet Seran, who was apparently on holidays, and I'm not sure the names of the staff we did meet. Their English was not great. We weren't offered a map, or simple directions to the closest supermarket etc. not that we would have cooked in this apartment. It did not feel clean enough. we spent most of our first day in Istanbul trying to figure out their complicated public transport system, as there are limited places you can buy an Istanbulkart (needed for trams etc). Some local assistance would have been much appreciated. The young boy was very helpful with taking our bags up the 3 flights of steep stairs however. The location is very good, but I would not stay here again simply due to the state of the apartment. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. Great food, very cosy. I have stayed in several air Bnb apartments and love what they generally offer- bigger space, kitchen facilities, and less of a 'hotel type' experience. Usually you are able to meet great locals with great tips. Unfortunately this was not one of them.

June 30, 2014 Sena & Seran, Cathy and I had to leave very early this morning to catch a plane back to Vancouver. We left the keycard in the apartment. I am not sure how much you are involved in the day to day operation of the apartment we rented (suite 215) through Airbnb. So I thought I would update you on the condition of the suite. Let me start by saying I have worked in construction and have bought and renovated a house and 2 condos and so I have considerable experience in this area. When we arrived in late afternoon, the staff checked us in. One of the staff carried our luggage up to our suite for us which was very kind of him. 1.When we entered we found one of the sliding doors from the clothes wardrobe not in place but just leaning up against the wardrobe. The staff member tried to reinstall the door but was unable to and so he leaned up against the wall of the suite. 2.On one side of the wardrobe the shelving was unusable due to missing shelf supports. 3.The wardrobe also did not have any clothes hangers in it on which to hang our clothes. 4.The kitchen counter top had a crack that ran across about 10 centimeters of the countertop. 5.When you stand over the kitchen sink there is a strong smell of sewer gas that comes up from the kitchen sink drain. 6.The door to the bathroom had two large deep indentations in it. 7.The bathroom shower was full of mold and mildew around the bottom of the shower. 8.The sliding shower doors no longer close well because the bottom track for the door has been removed. 9.The smell of sewer gas from the kitchen sink combined with the smell of mold in the bathroom has created an unpleasant odor in the apartment especially when the windows are closed. Most of the above problems in the apartment do not appear to have been happened recently. However the affect of the above problems combined to create a rather unpleasant experience for Cathy and myself in our weekend stay. I would not want other renters to experience what we experienced. Over the last several years we have had many very good experiences renting through Airbnb. Unfortunately this was not one. Ken Arkell

As with the previous reviewer, we didn't meet Seran or Sena but they sounded friendly on the phone. The staff were helpful in fixing the air conditioner as it didn't work on the first night we arrived. The main attraction of the apartment is the location. It is easy to get the tram to the main sights and the neighbourhood has some great cafés and bars. Overall basic no frills apartment (which is reasonable for the price) with fantastic location.

The good point is the location, close to Taksim square - the busiest quarter of Istanbul. The host sounded friendly on the phone (we haven't met him in person) and the staff was helpful. But the rest...unfortunately were a bit of a disappointment really.

Hello Dear Guest,

Me and my wife are İstanbul locals who enjoy the city life very much. Our purpose of renting out living spaces is to show the true Turkish hospitality to our guests we host at our suites.

We also have a boutique restaurant named "CookPoint" located on the ground floor of our building where we serve a variety of tastes of the Turkish cuisine. Especially, our breakfast dishes are quite popular among our customers. We highly recommend you to try our XXL breakfast if you want to taste all the essentials of an Ottoman style breakfast buffet.

We hope to accommodate you during your stay.

Best Regards,
