Charming old house from the XVth century located near the top of a hill above Vezere valley in Dordogne between Montignac Lascaux and Sarlat. It's a quiet place surrounded by a large private property of shady meadows, forests with a lot of points of view on the landscape and the valley.
This accomodation has all the confort needed in a preserved environnment.
This is the perfect place to start visiting the large amount of touristical places in the area (castles, caves, charming villages). This is also an excellent starting point for hiking tours.

We loved this quiet, beautiful location – a truly stunning setting in a lovely region. Pierre was very helpful and our one-week stay was perfect !
Usually I let my husband deal with things on line, but this time I insisted on being the one to respond because the experience was so profound. When you arrive you see houses built in another era and kept up, so you don't need to imagine what they looked like. The inside is equally kept up and is perfectly overlapped by modern ammenities that seemlessly blend. As you walk around the house, every window you look out of is a picture ready to be framed. The grounds are quiet, natural and also feel timeless, and peaceful. If one really needed a time in ones life to just be quiet, at peace and breath in all the simple beauty nature had to offer, this is the place. The owner, Pierre was also a pleasure to interact with, his gentle nature and concern for your well being and enjoyment of his home was evident. We were there to see the caves around Les Eyzies and the house is conveniently located, but I have to admit I could hardly wait to get back to the house and just...be.
A brillant place to stay. We stayed for 4 nights and would have extended it except we had to be elsewhere. The place has everything you need, set in a beautiful old farmhouse that has been updated . The host and his parents went out of their way to help us with anything we need, which is always great. Being placed on top on a hill, the views are great and the stars at night are very close, sitting outside relaxing in the evening was a highlight. We really enjoyed our stay and place it as one of the best airbnb rentals we have stayed in. Enjoy it.
My partner and I spent an absolutely enchanting week staying at Pierre's house in the Dordogne countryside. The house is simply gorgeous -- stunningly renovated in ways that complement the beauty of its historic stone structure with elegant furniture and a sleek, contemporary kitchen. The setting, meanwhile, is breathtaking: panoramic views across two forested valleys. And Pierre and his family were perfect hosts, greeting us with wine, fresh bread, and homemade jam, and offering us a wealth of ideas for exploring this magnificent corner of the Dordogne. We would stay at La Roussarie again in a heartbeat. Do book Pierre's space -- you won't be disappointed!
Our Visit in the mysteriously Perigord Noir was our last vacancy this year - Pierre and his house "La Roussarie" was a stroke of luck for us! Pierre is an open minded, very friendly, very helpful and very polite host! The house in his rural landscape, placed in a quaint village upon the Vezere valley is carefully and lovely arranged composition of old and new house and furnishing interior. From here, you can explore the whole Perigord Noir in short distances, start hiking direct from the house, visit our human history in different caves and rocks, explore mysterious castles, enjoy the culinary art of the perigord, hear deer roaring, watch the starry sky and falling stars and last but not least you can relax in a totally quiet surrounding!
Pierre's arrangement become the best rating from us and we wish to come back in his "charming old house" - take care about it! End of september 2013 - Greatings from Anne & Lukas
We enjoyed a beautiful week at La Roussarie - Pierre' house is a little treasure in itself, beautifully kept, comfortable and everything was very well provided. It lies in a beautiful secluded spot of nature, surrounded by meadows and woods and ideal for taking long walks nearby, or as a starting point to explore the area with its many prehistoric sites, or the many picturesque little villages all around with great food and wine everywhere! Pierre was a perfect host, generous, and went out of his way to help when we needed it. We would come back anytime...
In a word, delightful. The house is as beautiful as it appears in the photos, and Pierre is a thoughtful and generous host. The care that went into restoring the house is evident, and the mix of old and new blends together well.
Whether visiting one of the many surrounding "plus beaux villages de France", floating down the Dorgdogne River, star gazing at night, or stopping at some of the numerous historical sites, we couldn't have asked for more.
We stayed at Pierre house for almost a week. It was our best experience so far (have been in several airbnb places before). The place is remarkably big and wraps you up with its country atmosphere and warm feeling. Pierre is a perfect host, welcomed us upon arrival. Responded to all our questions. Took care on the first items we needed upon arrival. Our kids also enjoyed the big house both inside and outside.
Thank you Pierre for a perfect place
The fist thing we noticed after our arrival was the quiet. The only sounds came from birds. A lovely bouquet of fresh flowers on the kitchen table welcomed us, as well as breakfast provisions. The farmhouse was beautifully restored; every window offers an impressive view and the perspective from the courtyard offers similar views. It is a place where time stands still and being in the moment is all that matters.
Pierre is an accommodating and considerate host, the best we could ask for.
