This unique studio apartment is right in one of the funkiest and most happening areas of town, Osborne Village. It faces south and away from the heavy traffic of River Ave. It is on the third floor of a 3-story walk-up with a huge kitchen and bathroom. Bedroom and living room are combined with a door leading out to the fire escape balcony (replaced this past Oct. 2013, so brand new!) where you can sit outside on a nice day and sip your cocktail, soaking up the back lane excitement while trains toot in the distance. This place definitely has character. It is very simply laid out and the interior has been decorated with an artful eye. Very cozy and warm feeling. Wi-Fi available. No TV though.
The neighborhood is as unique as the apartment itself. Very diverse neighborhood and within a 5-8 min. walk from the door of the apartment is the most happening strip in the Village with funky restaurants, bars, boutique shops, coffee shops, liquor store, 3 major supermarkets (2 of them Organic), etc. Central transit hub as well. 10 min walk to The Forks Market.
Just be respectful. Common sense stuff like keeping the noise down after 10, not wrecking the place, clean up spills and messes, etc.
My husband and I came to Winnipeg for their annual Folk Fest and stayed at Tannis'. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay! The apt was close to the pickup point for the folk fest shuttle in downtown and walking distance to Winnipeg's best sites, restaurants and shops. Tannis' place is a mix of art and tranquility, it's like a repository of art, music, and books from her many world travels but all brought together to make a very hip and relaxing space. Tannis was a great host as several others have noted. We were provided coffee, fruit, and a perfectly sized kitchen with everything needed for cooking home meals. I would definitely stay here again when I'm in Winnipeg and highly recommend it to anyone visiting.
Tanis' place is awesome! Within walking distance of everything you'd want to explore but still tucked away on a quiet, beautiful street. Tanis herself was easy to communicate with and punctual; meeting us on time, being available if we needed her and making us feel right at home. More than that, you can tell a lot about someone by their bookshelf and Tanis is obviously a thoughtful and conscientious individual. We loved staying at her place, loved Winnipeg and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Tannis is awesome! I had a great stay at her place. She was super easy to coordinate with. She also had a lot of thoughtful touches: wifi instructions, local maps and tourist propaganda, creme for coffee.
The apartment was adorable, quiet and well-located. The neighborhood reminds me of the "uptown" neighborhood in Dallas in its early stages. Though there is no ac, the fan does a great job of cooling the place down, and there's a nice seating area right outside the back door, high above the street.
If I go to Winnipeg again, I plan to stay there again.
Wonderful wonderful and again most wonderful. The place is very comfortable and fun. Love the decor and Tannis could not be more helpful or nice. I loved staying here and would happily do so again. It is walking distance to some very cool places in Osborne village and very close to Forks Market. Even had coffee waiting for me with fresh fruit.
This was my first airbnb experience and I was glad to have had such an excellent host! Tannis was welcoming, warm, and accommodating! She was more than willing to share her knowledge of the city and offer any other assistance if needed. Her studio was the perfect cozy space for a rainy weekend. Thanks for a lovely stay!
My partner Jacob and I had a great time in Winnipeg while staying at the studio. It is located SUPER conveniently to public transportation, coffee shops, local restaurants and walking distance to downtown. Tannis and her parents were even nice enough to have fresh fruit in the kitchen along with tea and coffee. We definitely felt safe in the studio and neighborhood too. I would highly recommend staying in the studio if you are traveling to Winnipeg!
The place is really as lovely and charming in person as it looks in the pics - Tannis kept me very closely in the loop in terms of who was going to meet me to pick up the key, and thoughtfully provided all the little amenities (milk, fresh fruits, clean towels) for a nice stay. Really affordable place and in a great location, walking distance to both Osborne Village and downtown Winnipeg... I had a great stay!
I am a full-time self-employed massage therapist. I love independent travel, dance and music. This style of travel appeals to me because you can get a better feel of a place and what the neighborhoods have to offer.
