The space
Welcome to the Miles Away Shack, a nostalgic beachside retreat bursting with character and charm. Our cozy 1950s getaway offers a perfect escape from daily life, featuring a curated collection of unique treasures, bespoke finds, and locally sourced products.
The charming mid-century architecture of our humble shack embraces open plan living and floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the entire frontage in natural light, creating an ambiance that feels open, bright, and welcoming.
We have dedicated ourselves to restoring and renovating this tranquil space, bringing it back to its former glory. Fresh white-washed floorboards grace the interiors, while a meticulously curated blend of vintage and contemporary furniture and decor adds character throughout. We are a stay like no other.

The shack and the curated experience that it is in itself has been designed specifically for adults for slow relaxing stays.
We host many beautiful families, however we do like to point out that the shack may not be suitable for families with small children of toddler age due to the highly curated styling and delicate nature of some of our styling pieces.
The shack boasts two spacious bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of four guests. Each bedroom is adorned with beautiful king-size beds, dressed in the most luxurious French flax linen.

While compact, our kitchen is fully equipped, ensuring your stay is comfortable and convenient. Pour yourself a gin, pop the record player on and dance around the kitchen while cooking up a storm, or make yourself a platter and head out onto the back deck to laze in the afternoon sun.
You are also very spoilt for choice in the local area for great places to dine, so if you don't feel like cooking, take a look through our guest manual for some great recommendations and head on out and enjoy the many tastes Ocean Grove/ Barwon Heads or the Bellarine Peninsula has to offer.
In unexpected nooks and crannies our nostalgic 1950's beach shack pays homage to the Ocean Grove sun kissed shores and the laid back lifestyle of the coast all year round.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire property.
We have two large decks to enjoy, one at the front of the house so you can enjoy the morning sun and sit back and watch the world go by, or a more private deck out the back in the enclosed yard with a fire pit for more private enjoyment.
Other things to note
Miles Away Shack is located on Wallington Road, you are right amongst it with Ocean Groves main beach a short 6 minute stroll away and the river only 50m from our back door. With this in mind some road noise should be expected throughout the day, however of a late afternoon/ evening things quiet down and the area is very peaceful and quiet.
The main street (main shopping strip) of Ocean Grove is a 10min walk up the hill and the Shack is also located a couple of doors away from one of Ocean Groves most popular cafes - Garage Cafe.
During our peak summer period December/January, along with long weekends and school holiday periods we do have minimum night stays. Please reach out to us first and we will try to accommodate one or two night stays wherever possible during these periods.
Maximum guests - due to the property size and the high detail and delicate nature of some of the furniture and styling pieces within our curated space, this stay has specifically been designed for a maximum of x4 guests.
Unfortunately we will not be able to accept a booking if an infant accompanying the stay exceeds our maximum of x4 guests.
The Miles Away Shack is designed for intimate, slow stays, offering a curated experience just for our booked guests to enjoy. Unauthorised visitors are not permitted on the property to help us maintain this exclusive environment.
Unauthorised photoshoots for brands or commercial use are not permitted without prior approval. Please get is touch if you would like to hire the space.
Wedding Bookings and wedding preparations: If you plan to use the shack as a space for wedding preparations with additional visitors (such as the bridal party, family, hair and make up and photographer) an additional bond of $1000 is required. Please chat with us when making the booking. This bond helps ensure our space remains well cared for and for our insurance purposes, allowing all guests to enjoy its unique charm. Thank you for your understanding and respect for our space.
The Miles Away Shack is a lovingly preserved 1950s beach shack, with unique, original charm. Not all windows have fly screens, and the glass frontage brings in gorgeous light but can make it warm on peak summer days. With the aircon, fans, and blinds drawn it stays comfortably cool even on days over 35 degrees.
The shack is also a highly curated, sensory experience, with beautiful high-end room sprays specially designed for the space and linen oils which enhancing the over all experience of the space. If you have heightened sensitivity to aromatic scents, you may wish to consider other accommodations. Thank you for appreciating this special place as it is.
