About This Listing
A couple spare rooms in a house in the apple growing region of central new york (just a scooch south of Syracuse) located near some of the nicer places to ride a bike (if you like scenery and hills)
A great place to crash if going into town for any of the bicycle races held in and around Syracuse
There are also many excellent places to hike located nearby, such as Highland Forest, and Tinker's Falls in the Labrador unique area
Located practically next door to Beak and Skiff Apple Orchard, and just around the corner from their apple vodka distillery and apple winery.
One room has a normal bed the other has a pull out sofa, air mattresses are available as well
I'm pretty flexible, mainly I just ask that the dog be kept inside if he didn't go to work with me. Also If using the kitchen please tidy up after.
I had an excellent stay with Wesley, while not at home when I arrived he was very prompt in replying and giving me directions.
The room and bed were very comfortable and the bathroom clean. We ended up chatting away while swapping distilled goodies.
Wesley and Morgan are very welcoming and friendly. I felt comfortable staying in their home. It is definitely in a remote area- a solid 25-30 minutes from Syracuse. But close to plenty of orchards and a distillery. It was a quiet and relaxing place to spend the weekend
Wesley is a great host. He explained us how to drive when we could not found the place ( on the navigator it is in Lafayette not in Marietta) He shared his house with us which must have been quite a change because we were with four! We also enjoyed the company of Koda the dog and Munch the cat. There are opportunities for hiking and swimming and we could sit in the garden and wash our laundry. We had a great time in Apple country!
Stunning, bucolic landscape surrounding the property. Bathroom cleanliness could have been better, but to be fair I only had given Wes 24 hours heads up before my arrival. Wes unnecessarily welcomed me in at 3am and saw me off at 8am during a drive from Toronto to NYC. He was very gracious. Very quiet spot to relax and I wish I had more time to enjoy the area.
My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights and it was a wonderful experience. We went to Central NY on a whim just to get away for a few days. We checked out a few hotels before deciding to try airbnb. We messaged a few people and most were booked or required much longer notice. I messaged Wesley Thursday night and he replied right away- we were set for the next day! The location is great- pretty close to Syracuse and neighboring towns, not too far from the main highway.
Wesley's home is spacious and his pets are so friendly. His cat is quite awesome. We stayed in the bedroom upstairs, where we pretty much had the bathroom to ourselves. We also had access to the kitchen and fridge.
The experience was through no fault of Wesley's- the electrical company shut off the power overnight to the entire area as were about to arrive to do maintenance on the lines. As we were getting close to arriving, my bf and I noticed the entire area was quite dark. We figured that it was just us, used to living in NJ and having everything lit up 24/7. When we arrived around 11:00 pm, Wesley had a blinking red light on his mailbox so we could find this place. All his neighbors were sitting out in the dark chit chatting. Wesley apologized and pulled out a lantern and flashlights. It was cool & breezy out so we did not need to worry about an air conditioner. When we woke up the following morning, power was back up and running.
Honestly, we spent most of the weekend driving around so we did not use the kitchen much, just to store leftovers. Before we left Sunday morning, Wes made some awesome pancakes and coffee for us. He was truly a great host. He offered suggestions as to where to eat, places to visit, etc. My bf and Wes hit it off, chit chatting about cars and landscaping of all things, lol.
We definitely plan on visiting again!
We spent a great weekend near the Syracuse area and Wes was a great host. Too bad it was such a short stay
About the Host, Wesley
Hi I am a fairly active Carpenter/Cabinet/Furniture maker who realized that half of the space in my house is being wasted, and since I really only am occupying it for brief periods of time why not share it. Now that summer is approaching some of the many things that keep me outside are cycling, hiking with my goofy mutt Koda, and the occasional hockey game among many other things that keep my life interesting. I often enjoy BBQing and the occasional bonfire.
