Beautiful contemporary house with peaceful backyard and sunny front patio in quiet str. in beloved Beachwood cyn. Guests will experience life in the hills like no hotel can offer!

The Space

Private bedroom and private high-end contemporary bathroom in gorgeous designer home in a residential street in Beachwood Canyon, the heart of the historic Hollywood Hills, just below the famous Hollywood sign.
The room features a comfortable queen bed (memory foam mattress), TV & wifi, (and cables to connect from your laptop to TV), ipod/phone dock, adapter plugs for international electronics, a small refrigerator, coffee maker & water kettle, coffee several kinds of tea and oatmeals, microwave, plates, bowls and utensils in the room. Black-out shades for the traveller in need of sleep or night owls desiring to sleep in late. iMac computer in the room for internet access or play music/watch DVD's.
For two guests who prefer separate comforters, there are 2 twin size comforters available.
A whole house filter for eliminates the chlorine in the tap and shower water.

There are cats living in the house but people with a cat allergy never had a problem being in the house, as it has all hardwood floors and is kept very clean.

A car can be parked in my driveway and there is space for one (more) motorcycle in the garage. : D

Guest Access

Private bedroom with private bath, front deck with view into the hills and quiet and completely private back yard, full kitchen for breakfast and lunch and in agreement for cooking dinner(s), washer/dryer.

Interaction with Guests

I am very flexible and adaptable when it comes to interaction with guests. Some guest only need a safe and comfortable room and besides a quick good morning and hello I don't see much of them. Others may have a little more time or actually prefer a little bit more interaction and I enjoy that too. I understand both needs and just want my guests to have a wonderful time and to get the most out of their stay with me, wether that is a look into living as a local or getting accomplished what they came to do. I adapt to my guests needs as I sense what they would prefer.

The Neighborhood

My house is located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods of not just Hollywood but also all of Los Angeles: the Hollywood hills and more precise, historic Beachwood canyon. The neighborhood was developed in the 1920's. The canyon has its own market, coffee shop and horse stables. Since its conception it's been favored creative people from all over the world, such as directors, actors and musicians. Beachwood canyon is most known for being right below the Hollywood sign.
Right around the corner with Beachwood is Franklin Village (cross street is Franklin) with many restaurants, boutiques, cafes, super market, high end pet store, used book and record store, dry cleaners etc. etc.
At walking distance from cafe's, restaurants, supermarkets, boutiques and more. Located at a stone's throw from Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood & Vine, (Mann's Chinese Theater, Walk of Fame etc.), Sunday's Hollywood Farmers Market, Trader Joe's & fantastic restaurants (several in walking distance).
Located conveniently to Universal Studios and Universal City Walk (by car or public transportation) and only a short drive to all major film studios in the San Fernando Valley (Warner, Disney etc.)
Hikers can start their walks directly from the house or go by car to the Ferndell, Vermont or Crystal Springs Rd entrances to Griffith Park.
For those who like to go out, close to Hollywood nightlife and many fantastic restaurants, from $ to $$$.

Getting around

L.A. is still a car city but my location can be reached very well by public transportation. There is even a small bus that runs every 15 minutes from Hollywood and Vine into Beachwood canyon and stops at about 200 yards from my house. At Hollywood and Vine is the subway stop for the red line going to Universal studios in one direction and to Union station in the other. By changing to the blue line you can go to downtown L.A. Also at Hollywood and Vine are many stops for bus lines with L.A.'s metro system (busses, not underground). Of course there are also taxi's, there is a taxi stop behind the W Hotel (pretty much Hollywood and Vine also) and of course Uber and Lyft. Their cars usually show up in 6 minutes or less! To and from LAX, a shuttle is a very affordable but still comfortable and no-hassle way to travel. I'll gladly advise any guest how best to travel to their destination(s).
Transportation prices: to and from LAX: Bus and Subway: under $5 (you pay with your time), Shuttle: $27+tip, Uber: $28-$36, Taxi: $60+tip.

Other Things to Note

Unlike some listings that give the same impression, guests who stay with me are the ONLY guests, so there are no surprises of having to share the common spaces or driveway with other people, or being woken up by people coming home at 5 am. I am only mentioning this because of inquiries made with me and experiences from guests with other listings.

  • Wonderful location and a clean, very modern, beautiful house.

Room has its own bathroom, Sabine is an excellent host that laid out all the necessary details for checking in/out, was really helpful and communicative in navigating the area.

  • We stayed 2 nights at Sabine's place. It's a nice neighborhood and great location. There is plenty of space in the guest room, it has a comfortable bed and a large and beautiful bathroom. Everything is very clean. Sabine is a kind host, she is very helpful and caring. But she also respects your privacy. After the booking, months in advance, Sabine gave us nice tips for our journey. We highly recommend staying at Sabine's place!

  • This is the most perfect place to stay! Absolutely. I am so thankful to have stayed in this beautiful part of a most interesting area and live in a gorgeous house filled with warmth and elegance. Sabine, the host has been highly praised in all previous reviews and I can only totally agree with them. She is so naturally gracious and helpful in every way - a very special girl who shared her space in such a sweet way. I loved this experience and would love to come back soon.

  • The streets and neighborhood are typical of what you see in the hundreds of movies made in the area. The house is inviting and the space was as described and very clean. The common home areas are shared and there is a very attractive outside space dehind the building. Your hostess, Sabine is very accommodating and attentive. It would appear that she never meets a stranger. There is space to park a vehicle which is a big plus in this area.

A very pleasant first experience with airbnb and if this is indicative of future encounters, certainly not my last.

  • Sabine is very friendly and a wonderful host. She looked after all of our needs and spent time visiting with my wife and me and making us feel welcome. She has a beautiful home and keeps it very clean. We slept very well on the memory foam bed.

  • I just returned from a fantastic stay (3 days) with Sabine at her Hollywood Hills home. It was far, far beyond my highest expectations, even after I saw her 90+ positive reviews. If you are reading this you are probably thinking that many positive reviews are too good to be true, but I just experienced it myself and cannot tell you how nice staying with Sabine was. Well, I'll try.
Sabine is an unbelievably kind-hearted, friendly and considerate host with a unique, modern and inviting home that she opens to guests with a genuine care for their well being. Her job as an interior designer shows in all the touches in the bedroom and bath that you stay in, everything is spotless, functional and pleasurable to use and live in. Better than the best hotels I've ever been in. She keeps a nice corner of the sliding closet for you to make yourself some tea, oatmeal, coffee, or microwave food, or store it in a mini-fridge, but she would have my daughter and I join her for breakfast and other snacks in the kitchen and living room, so why you would want to stay in the bedroom is beyond me, but the option is there. We sat outside on her nice patio, her wonderful backyard, and watched the Stanley Cup and World cup with her in her living room on a huge LED TV. It was truly like staying with a close family friend. I've never experienced anything so warm and relaxing. That is just Sabine's way and her nature. Of course she would respect your privacy if you preferred less interaction, but it was just a natural friendship from the moment that she met us at the door on the first day.
All the furnishings in the bedroom and its own attached, private bathroom are wonderful and as nice as her own things in the rest of the home - her attitude was (direct quote from Sabine): "Why should I have nicer things than my guests?".
I will say that Sabine is a bit of a perfectionist, but when all of that attention to detail is focused on her guest having the nicest possible stay, its a wonderful thing.
I could go on and on about how great this stay was - but if you have doubts after reading this and 90 other satisfied guests, you have issues and might not be the best guest for Sabine anyhow. Move along.

Bottom Line - if you are coming to LA and the Hollywood area - you absolutely could not dream up or invent a more perfect place to stay. Do not miss the chance to stay with Sabine and experience the finest AirBnB experience you may ever get the chance to have.

  • Sabine aptly describes her home as a sanctuary, it nestles in the Hollywood Hills not far from the iconic sign. On several morning I woke to the sound of birdsong.

Sabine was travelling when I stayed for a week, but still she made me feel very welcome, with a English Breakfast tea and little note scattered around to help me to orientate myself.

If you have the opportunity then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sabine's hospitality.

  • Soo first time I travelled to USA and was kinda thinking how I am going to manage my trip. A place to stay is always on top of the list and I have to say I couldn’t be luckier to book Sabine’s place. Her place is any day better than any 5 star hotel I stayed in. Sabine is an interior designer by profession and a very good one and it shows in every corner of her house. The details that has been looked after are unthinkable for most of the interior designers. You’ll be living in this ZEN house with front sun deck giving you a full view of Hollywood Hills and outdoor patio with sunbeds and wooden table for 8 with umbrella and trees with so much peace around. Her house is wooden floored which gives it very organic feel, the couches in the hall are extremely comfortable with the beautiful state of the art interior.

Looking into the room, the room has attached bath with full amenities that would compete any five start hotel, Fresh towels Sunbathing cream, moisturizers with the glass work, rain shower and organic shower gels and shampoos are great perks. Room has wide window with fresh Hollywood hills breeze coming in and wall to wall glass wardrobe area. The bed in room is best part of stay its only after a long day when you come back in this room you realize the comfort of mattress this magical mattress had something in it that would rejuvenate me for the next day and I would feel energy to do so much more every morning.

Sabine herself is a gem. She is one of the most kindest and sweetest person I know she made sure that I was comfortable and she made sure that I discover all the local places I think all the local businesses around her area should thank her for that :))). Without Sabine my trip would be kinda empty or It would have been difficult to achieve the serenity that I planned to achieve during my holidays.

Just few minute drive and you reach all tourist destinations (please see map and you’ll know what I am talking about) I saved so much on gas just because I was living in this area.

It’s a true sanctuary please do yourself a favor and book without thinking it’s a great place great host and hey you’ll be staying in one of the best parts of Hollywood.:)

  • Without a question, the best airbnb experience I have ever had. A brief stay, but one where I felt most welcomed by Sabine's genuinely warm and friendly hospitality. Everything about the house and the room was perfect- as was the location. Pictures can only hint at how beautiful her home is- you have to see it to believe it. I hope to visit her again for a longer stay. Thank you, Sabine, so much for everything!

About
I'm an interior designer from the Netherlands living both in Amsterdam and Los Angeles. Contemporary Design is my passion and my house is proof. I completely remodeled a "face less" house from the sixties -but in the perfect location!- into a designer home with all the amenities we want today. Besides design and languages, I love to travel, hiking and being outdoors, outdoor activities, ride my motorcycle, animals, sustainable design and living, organic food, gardens and everything beautiful. In the past that included working in the music industry. Now I just enjoy listening to different kinds of music. I will gladly share my music collection with you, from classical to metal, world to techno, though you might have to update me on all of them! I will make your stay comfortable and help you with any questions you have regarding your visit to Los Angeles. As a foreigner myself, I understand the cultural differences and the frustrations they sometimes cause. I can explain how things work here. For many years I've purchased books on the region which I will gladly share with my guests. Activities I love to do are: hiking, meeting friends for food or coffee/tea, reading, music, yoga, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding and would love to sail again. My favorite city is Paris (based on where I've been), though Amsterdam is not bad either and is my home.
