Interaction with Guests
I am very flexible and adaptable when it comes to interaction with guests. Some guest only need a safe and comfortable room and besides a quick good morning and hello I don't see much of them. Others may have a little more time or actually prefer a little bit more interaction and I enjoy that too. I understand both needs and just want my guests to have a wonderful time and to get the most out of their stay with me, wether that is a look into living as a local or getting accomplished what they came to do. I adapt to my guests needs as I sense what they would prefer.
My house is located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods of not just Hollywood but also all of Los Angeles: the Hollywood hills and more precise, historic Beachwood canyon. The neighborhood was developed in the 1920's. The canyon has its own market, coffee shop and horse stables. Since its conception it's been favored creative people from all over the world, such as directors, actors and musicians. Beachwood canyon is most known for being right below the Hollywood sign.
Right around the corner with Beachwood is Franklin Village (cross street is Franklin) with many restaurants, boutiques, cafes, super market, high end pet store, used book and record store, dry cleaners etc. etc.
At walking distance from cafe's, restaurants, supermarkets, boutiques and more. Located at a stone's throw from Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood & Vine, (Mann's Chinese Theater, Walk of Fame etc.), Sunday's Hollywood Farmers Market, Trader Joe's & fantastic restaurants (several in walking distance).
Located conveniently to Universal Studios and Universal City Walk (by car or public transportation) and only a short drive to all major film studios in the San Fernando Valley (Warner, Disney etc.)
Hikers can start their walks directly from the house or go by car to the Ferndell, Vermont or Crystal Springs Rd entrances to Griffith Park.
For those who like to go out, close to Hollywood nightlife and many fantastic restaurants, from $ to $$$.
L.A. is still a car city but my location can be reached very well by public transportation. There is even a small bus that runs every 15 minutes from Hollywood and Vine into Beachwood canyon and stops at about 200 yards from my house. At Hollywood and Vine is the subway stop for the red line going to Universal studios in one direction and to Union station in the other. By changing to the blue line you can go to downtown L.A. Also at Hollywood and Vine are many stops for bus lines with L.A.'s metro system (busses, not underground). Of course there are also taxi's, there is a taxi stop behind the W Hotel (pretty much Hollywood and Vine also) and of course Uber and Lyft. Their cars usually show up in 6 minutes or less! To and from LAX, a shuttle is a very affordable but still comfortable and no-hassle way to travel. I'll gladly advise any guest how best to travel to their destination(s).
Transportation prices: to and from LAX: Bus and Subway: under $5 (you pay with your time), Shuttle: $27+tip, Uber: $28-$36, Taxi: $60+tip.
Other Things to Note
Unlike some listings that give the same impression, guests who stay with me are the ONLY guests, so there are no surprises of having to share the common spaces or driveway with other people, or being woken up by people coming home at 5 am. I am only mentioning this because of inquiries made with me and experiences from guests with other listings. This listing is my only one, I don't run several places.
My house is my sanctuary as it can be yours during your visit to Los Angeles.
Please treat it with respect.
No smoking indoors, no drugs, no parties and no overnight guests.
Please let me know if you'd rather sleep under 2 comforters than one queen sized, if you come with 2 people.
Sabine is a wonderful person with a big heart. She made us feel welcome upon arrival and gave us tips and advice in addition to a large collection of brochures in the room for us.
The house is designed tastefully and our room is modern and filled with amenities like an iMac, microwave, utensils and a mini-fridge. Bathroom is clean and feels luxurious. The bed has an amazing tempur mattress and we definitely had a great sleep there!
Public transportation was pretty convenient although the last DASH bus to the location ends late evening but it was never a problem especially with Uber being such an affordation solution.
Overall we loved our stay at Sabine's and would highly recommend her. We will definitely choose her again if we visit LA in the future.
Sabine was a great host, helping us get settled, giving advice on things to do, and inviting us to share her home. The guest room in Sabine's beautifully updated home was an extremely comfortable place to plan our outings and then to recover from the day's activities. The bedroom and adjoining private bathroom were spotless and cunningly well-organized with TV, wi-fi, coffee, mini-fridge, at least two dozen guidebooks to LA (we put several miles on the walking tour book!) plus plenty of closet space. The bed with memory foam mattress was great. We also took advantage of Sabine's kitchen and deck for morning coffee and toast... and her backyard patio for afternoon reading. For us, the location on a quiet street up in the Beachwood Canyon area could not have been better... it feels like a hilly retreat away from the traffic grid of LA.
The house is really nice and it has everything you need. The location is so awesome and parking is easy. Staying with Sabine makes feel like home. She gave us a warm reception , "欢迎雨" was sweetest thing I have ever seen. My mom likes her place and LA a lot thanks to this great experience with airbnb.
After an 11hr flight (not counting 3hr delays at the airport) reaching the house was bliss. The room was very clean and freshly decorated and had everything and more that you might need during your stay (including an amazingly comfy bed!!). Sabine was very welcoming and showed me details of where to eat and visit nearby. If I visit LA again then I would love to stay here again. This is a first class airbnb booking!!
I'm not sure whether to give higher accolades to the suite or to the host. Both were marvelous.
The house is dynamic and lovely; the decor is very modern and the neighborhood is tranquil. The bed is very comfortable and the room has its own private, roomy and strikingly clean bathroom.
I had full use of the house - reading and watching tv in the living room, use of the whole kitchen, hanging out in the back yard. So I give the accommodation 4 stars!
Now to the host:
Sabine is one of the warmest, most open individuals I have ever met. We spent part of the first evening I was there sitting on her couch in our pajamas and stroking her cat. One morning, we sat and had breakfast and coffee (and she has wonderful coffee!) in the yard. I felt very much at ease and used her kitchen as I needed to, without feeling awkward. When I wanted private time, it was not a problem. Sabine is a sophisticated and insightful person and I feel I've made a lifelong friend. 5 stars!
I don't even know where to begin to starting writing this review. Firstly Sabine was the most fantastic, warm, welcoming and funny person i have ever stayed with. There is absolutely nothing negative i can say about my experience staying with her or her lovely home. Not only the room but the entire house and outdoor surroundings Sabine keeps in immaculate condition. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was sparkling and clean. I also loved working from my laptop in the tranquil garden she has created. I could stay there all day! Sabine will always go out her way to help you with anything you need or need to know. I don't think I've ever met such an active person in my life. One minute shes making me a coffee in the morning and the next she's skiing down a mountain! However conversations we did have turned into laughs and stories. Her home is very close to everything. Hollywood Blvd is only a mile away. I will 100% be staying here time and time again. Thank you for everything Sabine and very much looking forward to seeing you again in the near future :)
I'm an interior designer from the Netherlands living both in Amsterdam and Los Angeles.
Contemporary Design is my passion and my house is proof. I completely remodeled a "face less" house from the sixties -but in the perfect location!- into a designer home with all the amenities we want today.
Besides design and languages, I love to travel, hiking and being outdoors, outdoor activities, ride my motorcycle, animals, sustainable design and living, organic food, gardens and everything beautiful. In the past that included working in the music industry. Now I just enjoy listening to different kinds of music. I will gladly share my music collection with you, from classical to metal, world to techno, though you might have to update me on all of them!
I will make your stay comfortable and help you with any questions you have regarding your visit to Los Angeles. As a foreigner myself, I understand the cultural differences and the frustrations they sometimes cause. I can explain how things work here.
For many years I've purchased books on the region which I will gladly share with my guests.
Activities I love to do are: hiking, meeting friends for food or coffee/tea, reading, music, yoga, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding and would love to sail again.
My favorite city is Paris (based on where I've been), though Amsterdam is not bad either and is my home.
