Perched above the lake, with nearly 400 feet of private lakeshore and some of the most stunning views of Lake Superior is Pine Tree Creag, a lakefront home that combines soaring modern architecture with a cozy Northwoods cabin feel.

This property is designed to optimize quality time together, both indoors and out. And with all the amenities to ensure your escape to the South Shore is an experience to remember!

The space
The first floor of this two-level home is an open plan design, with a gourmet kitchen outfitted with everything you need to create memorable meals that your group can share in the dining area or, in warmer weather, out on the expansive deck that wraps fully around the home’s exterior, maximizing the stunning views of the lake.

The dining area flows into a huge great room living space - you won’t be lacking in room to spread out! The great room features soaring two-story windows overlooking the lake, as well as multiple patio doors that open out to the deck. You’ll find plenty of comfy furniture spread across two lounging areas. Topping it off is a gas fireplace that adds to the ambiance. Imagine hours spent reading, playing board games, and enjoying each other’s company while watching the snow fall!

The architecture of the interior is nearly as dramatic as the scenic beauty just outside. The front of the home, which houses the great room, is designed to resemble a ship’s prow, with its soaring windows pushing out towards the lake and high ceilings of pine wood. This isn’t your typical Nortthwoods cabin, that’s for sure!

The lower level also houses two full baths (both with showers, but not bathtubs) and even a washer/dryer.

The kitchen has a gas stove/oven, as well as every small appliance & cookware/utensil you could need to whip up whatever you’re craving. And even a dishwasher to make post-meal clean up a breeze! And the adjoining dining area has a table that comfortably seats 8-10.

The upper level is as unique as the rest of the property: in order to maximize the lake views, the home was designed so that the upper level is open to the great room below. There are three distinct sleeping areas upstairs, but there are no doors which close off any of these areas. Thus, we feel this property is perfect for a family or group of close friends, but may not be a fit for anyone who needs to be able to close themself off in order to get some privacy.

The two main sleeping areas feature brand-new queen-size SleepNumber beds, and each has a lovely little sitting area for reading, writing, or just contemplation. The third sleeping area has a new and luxurious queen futon mattress (we swear it’s comfier than 99% of hotel beds we’ve slept in!) that folds up into a couch.

The house sits on nearly 3 acres, much of it wooded, which grants you total privacy and peace & quiet - you'll feel serenely isolated with no neighbors in sight! Just off the deck is a path that meanders a short way to a fire pit that is surrounded on all sides by wood benches - perfect for a large group to enjoy a cozy evening in front of the fire.

This same path continues on to the edge of the property and the highlight of this property: absolutely incredible and unobstructed views of Lake Superior. You’ll have 370 feet of lakefront beauty all to yourself. As you continue along the main path, you’ll find a picnic table perfectly situated to enjoy dining al fresco just at the edge of the lake.

And then further on, a wooden staircase will take you a short ways down to the lakeshore where, in warm weather, you can jump directly to the lake from the large rocks at the base of the stairs, or climb over them to reach the lake's edge (or just soak up the sun from one of the many large rocks at the lake’s edge).

Pine Tree Creag is truly a unique and incredible property that is designed to help groups/families to re-connect,. And, we hope, it will also facilitate our guests’ reconnecting with the power the unique beauty of Lake Superior’s South Shore has to feed one’s soul and calm one’s mind. This property truly has everything you need to ensure a delightful and memorable getaway to the South Shore!

The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S. The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, farm store, and marina. Bayfield is about 25 minutes away, as is Washburn (where the largest grocery store is in the area).
