Located off Brattle Street in Cambridge's best neighborhood, only 15 minute walk to Harvard Square, steps from fabulous gourmet shops and restaurants, and 10 min from outdoor ponds and bicycle paths. Pulcinelli's Italian Restaurant, a small family restaurant with only about 10 tables serving devinely-titilating treats, is a neighborhood treasure. Guests travel from all over the world to reach Formaggio's phenomenal cheese selection (and wide array of international treats). The Mt. Auburn Cemetary is home to an arboretum with widest variety of trees, shrubs, birds and famous deceased in the area.
An original New England Trolley stops only steps from the front door for easy transit to Harvard Square. But, the short 15 minute walk is an historical footpath that should not be missed.
Sabbatical House was developed by Professor Raymond Vernon and Diane Cotman as a home-away-from-home for Harvard's visiting scholars. It is also a historical treasurer as it is the first national Model for Sustainable Building.
You have access to the front deck, the back barbecue patio, and the secret garden.
Interaction with Guests
Most interactions with guest are via text and email. We have several barbecue and occasional get togethers with others in the building per year. It is a friendly place. However, one can be as friendly or as private as one chooses.
Diane was an amazing host. I had booked the apartment just for me, but two of my friends showed up last minute and wanted to share the place. Diane upgraded us to a much bigger apartment at no additional cost. The apartment itself was really good - clean, spacious, on premise parking and very close to Harvard Square. This was my first AirBnB experience and if all AirBnB places are like this then I am never staying in a hotel ever again.
