Interaction with Guests
I am always available via text or phone. I am not always around. Very busy, active life!
This is the most desirable neighborhood in Cambridge MA. Walk the neighborhood and see YoYoMa, Supreme Court justice, internationally known leaders, lawyers, musicians, writers. Everything you need is within a 2 block walk. Very small, quaint "village" feeling or you can walk 20 minute into Harvard Square and the world is your oyster. Next to the house is a world renowned Cheese Shop called Formaggio's. Two blocks away is an Italian restaurant run by a husband and wife. There are only about 20 seats. The food is the best - just like Italy! Fresh Pond is just down the street. Walk, ride bicycles, play frisbe. Or, walk to the Mt. Auburn Cemetary - resting place of early American and turn of the century notables. It is also the most diverse arboretum in New England. This neighborhood is the very best.
MBTA trolly is only 20 steps from the front door. The walk to Harvard Square (past some of the most beautiful gardens) is only 15-20 minutes. It is very, very easy to get around
No smoking. Ever. Period.
Wow! We certainly made the right choice to stay at this amazing home during our stay in Cambridge! Not only was the home beautiful, but the location was absolutely perfect! Set amidst other multi-million dollar homes with grand facades and hydrangeas galore, I took a beautiful jog down to the Charles River every morning and over to Harvard Square for coffee and early sight-seeing. The bus also stops right at the corner as an option, too, and Formaggios is right there for an amazing selection of gourmet foods and beverages. The bedrooms were roomy and quaint (and big ceiling fans), with a great office and plenty of shelving/storage for clothes and anything else. The kids were even allowed to play on the beautiful Steinway, which thrilled them to no end.
Diane is the perfect hostess! She was there if needed, and was extremely helpful with any needs we had. Communication was prompt, polite, and very friendly. She treated all of us with extreme care and kindness and it's hard to leave there without feeling as though you have made a new lifelong friend. We can't wait to stay again! Thanks Diane, for everything...hope to see you again, soon!
Great place with classy furnishings, short walk to Harvard Square through best Cambridge settings.
Diane was there to welcome us. The apartment and neighborhood were as described, with a couple of changes. One bedroom has a single bed with trundle; the other a full bed. And the outdoor areas weren't really usable for us this week, but I do think at other times they would be lovely.
Each bedroom has a ceiling fan and the central AC worked great. The living room is just as pictured, good TV with cable. The bathroom is clean and bright; the kitchen was nice and modern. The only thing lacking was a coffee maker- would have loved that but with the excellent bakery and cheese shop around the corner, our coffee needs were met. Diane was so nice and kind, giving us great restaurant recommendations in Cambridge. She was so sweet and available. We really appreciated it. It was a perfect location and great sized apartment for my family while visiting colleges in the area. We loved the cafes in the area and really enjoyed a nice run around Fresh Pond, just a few blocks away. We had a car and the zoned parking pass was terrific. We drove everywhere that wasn't Boston. The day we went into Boston we took the T, about a 20 minute gorgeous walk (down Brattle Street) into Harvard Square from the house. We would recommend Diane's place if you are interested in getting to know the area and getting a feel for what it's like to live in Cambridge. This over sharing 1 room in a hotel, any day!
Diane's house is lovely, and she's a kind, responsive and warm host, who I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I booked a room, but Diane generously put me into a large apartment (which was being prepared for new tenants, so was quite empty of furniture, but spacious and beautiful). It was a great place to work, which I really appreciated.
The property is special - beautiful outside and in, full of light, large windows, period features, and healthy, innovative technologies that you don't even notice (as the house has been restored with all the tech tucked away). It has a great atmosphere, and also a balcony and porch, which will be lovely in good weather.
Thanks for a lovely stay!
The house is fantastic. It is a concept house developed by Harvard Scholars in the early 90's, that has many features that was the future trend by that time, such as electromagnetic insulation, natural temperature conservancy, etc… It is also steps away from an organic bakery shop where you can find fantastic food. It is also steps away from a bus stop that connects you with Harvard Station and from there to the world.
On top, Diane is a lovely person, big heart and a fantastic help. If you are look enough, she could even invite you for a dinner or give you a lift in the morning.
Diane really saved us, on so many levels. We'd had a reservation cancel and had 2 days to find new accommodations. She found a way to fit us in when she learned I was delivering my only daughter to university. And then she went out of her way to help us get there-driving us in the morning of the drop off with all our bags! She is a high-integrity, fair and generous hostess. And she has an excellent aesthetic, while being sustainable in her properties. You can rest assured you'll be well taken care of if you can stay with Diane. Happy trails!
