We were looking for a secluded, quiet retreat and the Herds man cottage gave us exactly that. The cottage is located near Finlough lake with farm lands all around us. The cottage had pretty much everything we needed for a week long visit. There is a clothes horse for drying, which left us with wrinkles and no clothes iron. Other than that we are extremely happy with our stay! Finn and his hired man Ted, we're both open and welcoming and communication was great.

If you want to visit Ireland and her people come here and visit the folks and town of Strokestown. We were so lucky to find this place.

The farm is a great place to stay! It had everything you need for comforts, a great kitchen to cook in! It is charming and everything we expected from the description and more! Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a true Irish experience look no further. You do need to anticipate drive times to landmarks, but the value makes up for this - LOVED our stay!

The farm house is exactly that, on a farm. Few miles from town and any shopping, eating, pubs, etc. If you want privacy this is the place. Cabs in the area are expensive. The roads, narrow and winding. Careful if driving a rental car or use the local taxis.

Off the beaten track, taking you back to the 90s with a tiny DVD/TV, no internet and animals for neighbours. It is a bit of a drive to get anywhere but if you want a peaceful trip secluded from other human life, loads of time spent reading and relaxing then this would be perfect for you. The host is very nice and responsive.

I'm from Dublin, where I run a healthfood store, and also an organic farm in the countryside. I'm a food obsessive, and love all things attached to food culture. *Includes eating.
