Our house is a 200 year old farmhouse which we extended and renovated 6 years ago so it is now an interesting mixture of old and new. Our children are equally welcoming to guests with new children to play with and to adults who want to enjoy a city break in Dublin.
Most of our guests avail of an organised taxi to get to our home from Dublin Airport or the Ferry Ports. This is easily arranged and we are happy to help. Generally the taxi driver charges € 30 which is very reasonable.
There is no smoking in the house, however the house has 2 peaceful and pretty Patio areas where you may do so.
I also ask that shoes are left downstairs when you are going upstairs.
Siobhan is a wonderful host. Her home is lovely and her breakfast far exceeded our expectations. She was able to accommodate our family of 4 with only a days notice. We were passing through the area, so we didn't have much time. Siobhan was very helpful with recommendations of places to go. I would highly recommend Fairy House and hope that someday I will be able to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fairy House, it was a great base from which to visit the city and we felt completely comfortable there. Our room and ensuite were lovely and we were able to use the fridge and guest room.
Siobhan was very helpful with information, making sure we had all we needed and made us lovely breakfasts.
Lucan village is very nice and we were able to have our evening meals there before heading back to the house. We ate at Carrolls Gastro Pub and the Indian next door and both were great.
Amazing stay at a little bit of country in the city!! Our party of four had a fabulous time and we could not have asked for a better host! Siobhan made a delicious breakfast every morning, has a beautiful and comfortable home. Gave us great directions on getting to and from city centre. Excellent, easy and cheap commute to and from city centre. Was great to have a calmer stay outside the hustle of the city. And to make the stay even better Siobhan has a beautiful dog that really made the stay feel homey. Would absolutely recommend this stay. Thank you for a great and accommodating stay!!
Maybe I am not the correct guest to talk about my experience because I stayed twice with Siobhan and her family. The house is amazing and original. She was very friendly and too much helpful when I got lost. Also she gave me a lot of information about best places to go...
Nice place to stay. Siobhan was not there the weekend we came, but prepared everything -such as a delicious breakfast - in advance. The room for the 5th person in the cellar is quite small, but the other two rooms upstairs are very nice. Good place to stay with children, as there is a kid's room full of toys.
After a 40€ taxi drive from the airport, we got our rooms with private bathrooms. The place is very nice, it is a bus ride away from Dublin (buses go frequently). Siobhan made us feel at home. We could use the big living room and she made us breakfast even though she had to prepare her kids for school.
