  • We booked Pete's bedroom for a spur-of-the-moment overnight stay in Santa Cruz, so we were touch and go and didn't even have time to tour their sprawling property. But what we did see was very lovely and cozy. Pete was very quick to respond to all our queries and very hospitable. He even made us 2 batches of dreamy gluten-free treats for breakfast!! Highly highly recommended

  • Pete and Cathy have a lovely homeland we had a very enjoyable stay here. The room is large and very clean. The house has a large backyard which is a great place to just sit and relax.

Pete and Cathy have plenty of tips about the local area and gave us great advice on places to go and different restaurants, we would recommend to everyone.

  • Cathy and Pete were very welcoming. Their house is very charming and have a beautiful garden. The room had a comfortable bed with a heated mattress, which was a nice surprise. Even though we only stayed for one night it was nice to converse with Pete and Cathy over their delicious pear coffee cake in the morning, yummm! They were also very kind to lend us their bikes. We would definitely stay here again, when we visit Santa Cruz.

  • I had a lovely, but very brief stay. My hosts were charming, the house and gardens were pretty, the bed was comfy, the bathroom clean, the bathtub deep. What more could a person ask?

  • We had an amazing weekend and Pete and Cathy went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The house and garden are really cool and the personal touches made it extra special - from the heated bed to the use of their bikes to get around on and Pete's amazing coffee cake!

  • Before I discuss the specifics, which are great, I want to say that Pete and Cathy and their home are what I like best about AirBnB. Besides being lovely people and hosts, they very much reflected Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is not San Francisco and not Los Angeles and AirBnB gives you the opportunity to really see what a community values. Santa Cruz is a beach community that values a certain out-of-the-fast-lane culture. This is reflected in lots of ways but Pete and Cathy both reflect that and also deepen your feeling for it. They are intelligent, well read, engaged people. It isn’t just a relaxed culture they value but it is a foundation on which they have built a rich live. You won’t see this in Los Angles, which has many other great things ,or San Francisco. So staying here even for just two nights was an opportunity to drop into Santa Cruz.

The specifics are great. The home is very comfortable and the room charming and comfortable. Pete made a killer coffee cake and great coffee. Both Cathy and Pete were wonderful hosts who enjoyed sharing their home and New York Times and discussing all kinds of things. Lovely people. Besides getting to know them, the second highlight was bicycling down to the nearby beach. I was given a great beach cruiser bike and directions and recommendations. The cliffs right below their house are a perfect venue for watching dozens of surfers in the ocean and families cavort on the beach. Outstanding.

  • Pete and his wife Cathy were absolutely fantastic hosts. They have a 100% open door policy and were available any time we had questions or needed suggestions on what to visit nearby. The house is exactly as pictured-it's quaint, quite large, and has loads of character. Both the house and the hosts were a pleasure, parking was easy, the neighborhood was lovely, and the back gardens great. I would love to stay again!

  • Pete and Cathy were accommodating hosts. The house was great. Sitting by the pond in the backyard was sweet. My favorite part was riding the bikes provided to the beach.
