Airbnb Reviews If you are happy here review us on airbnb.
Pete and Judy were delightful and warm hosts. It felt like staying with family. The place is incredible. An oasis of lush 1/3 acre back yard with lots of "zen" spots to hide out in. The house is a treasure of history for which Pete will talk to you for hours about. Biking distance to ShadowBrook restaurant (my fav) or Capitola town and he has bikes to use. We went for our 1 year anniversary and will be back next year - or even sooner.
Pete had excellent communication before and during my visit. When I arrived, he was welcoming and showed me around. He was friendly and I felt safe and comfortable in his home and the neighborhood.
The room was clean and bed was comfortable. The location is also perfectly situated near both Capitola and the heart of Santa Cruz. Very easy to get to.
We had a lovely time at Pete's beautiful home. The garden is gorgeous and filled with cute animals and beautiful flowers. The location was perfect for us as it was close to the beach and downtown. Pete was very friendly and accommodating.
Pete is efficient and friendly. He was very welcoming and gave us a brief tour when we arrived very late in the evening. The room was well appointed, clean and the bed was comfortable. It's a tight space for two travelers with bags. The bath across the hallway was clean. I wasn't really sure which towels I was allowed and not allowed to use.
Pete provided cake and coffee for breakfast, and acknowledged this might not be sufficient for most. He shared a multi-page list of local restaurant options.
The manual in the guest suite is rather lengthy with a lot of rules. We didn't have the time to read the whole thing. As such, we probably violated several of the rules. We're really sorry, Pete.
He also welcomed our small poodle at an additional charge of $15.
The additional 11% tax that Pete collects from guests upon their departure is an inconvenience. It should be included in the posted rate.
Thanks for sharing your home with us, Pete.
Thanks for the tips! Regarding the TOT, If we put the tax onto the room rate you the guest are increasing the amount you pay to Airbnb. I use the host net to lessen the tax obligation. Hopefully soon like you have in Oregon, Airbnb will be able to charge the tax automatically! No one will be happier than me.!
We were warmly welcomed by Pete's wife Kathy who showed us our lovely room, shared bathroom and a bit of their garden. She explained the rules of the house, which were few, and told us their would be coffee (our choice over tea) and home made coffee cake in the morning. We soon left for our event and retired to our very comfortable room on our return. In the morning there was coffee and cake bright and early and even a local paper to read. The house was absolutely adorable, built in 1923, and set into a charming older neighborhood but the highlight was the gorgeous garden that seemed to go on forever. Both Pete and Kathy were very friendly and accommodating with lots of suggestions for restaurants etc. A very enjoyable stay.
Hosts were great! The neighborhood is safe and parking is available on the street and driveway. The house was a little more rustic than I expected and the room we had was quite cozy with a shared hall bath. (There is a back bedroom that is large with a private bath, this is the one to request if it is available). Pete makes a delicious coffee cake and makes you feel very at home. Both Pete and Cathy are quite fun and interesting, but will respect your privacy as you like.
My boyfriend and I LOVED staying here. We especially loved the homemade coffeecake in the morning, served with coffee or tea and great conversation. There were a few different couples there and having breakfast together and chatting about where everyone was from and what we were doing during our stay was really sweet.
Pete is so warm and welcoming. Being a long time resident, he has invaluable knowledge of the area and had great recommendations and knew all local activities and events. So, if you are looking for a guide, Pete is your man.
We were visiting friends in the area and didn't have much time to spend there, but the property looked beautiful and we would love to take advantage of it next time.
Looking forward to our next trip! Thank you!
