  • My husband and our two friends spent a long weekend at Dan Y Coed's and both Lisa and the cottage were amazing! Lisa contacted us a week prior to our stay to confirm timings/directions and not only gave us details to contact her closer to our arrival but helpful hints on things to see on the way. When we arrived, Lisa was there to greet us with tea and cake with the fire burning so the cottage was warm for our arrival. The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need for a quiet weekend away and was beautifully restored, immaculately clean and so cosy that it was difficult to leave! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!

    Response from Lisa:

Really glad you had a good weekend, thanks for a lovely review.

  • The cottage is beautifully renovated, complete with a log fire, heated flooring and roll top bath. The kitchen is fully kitted out for those who wish to stay in and cook. Set in the heart of stunning Welsh countryside and relatively close to the coast this is an ideal location for those who are looking for a break from the city. Lisa was incredibly welcoming, making sure that she was there with the fire lit, kettle on and even a cake ready for us on arrival. We loved staying here and would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here. We had an amazing time!

  • Excellent Accommodation and host. Lisa greeted us with a roaring fire tea and a cake which was very welcoming. Our son Connor was most appreciative of the little red dragon gift and the toy cupboard. Lisa helped us settle in and discuss all the local attractions. Everything in the cottage was to a high standard which made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Hope to return soon.

Great to hear you had a good time. Thank you for being such lovely guests!

  • We loved our little stay in Wales. This cottage has obviously been lovingly restored to its current excellent high standard and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Lisa was very helpful in showing us places we could take the kids, not only that she baked a cake and bought our kids bubble toys to play with, thanks Lisa!

    Overall highly recommended.

Only one minor point I will make, the road next to the cottage can disturb when cars pass. It didn't cause us any major issues, we all slept fine, but if you are a light sleeper, perhaps think about earplugs.

We would definitely stay here again!

    Response from Lisa:

Dan Y Coed is on a B road and traffic is mostly quiet. We are in a 30 mph zone. However, occasional noisy cars come by but luckily every thing else seems to out number the odd disturbance. Thank you Colin.

  • We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful cottage. Although we arrived fairly late in the evening, Lisa greeted us on arrival with the fire roaring, cup of tea and delicious cake! She happily showed us many walks and places of interest in the area.

The cottage is immaculately furnished - cosy and luxurious with underfloor heating in the bathroom and everything you could need in the kitchen. A great base to explore the stunning surroundings and a welcome retreat when the weather turned. We've returned to London rejuvenated!

  • We had a a great stay at the cottage which is really well presented and tastefully decorated, with all mod cons (including roll top bath) and very clean and comfortable. Lisa is a great host and spoiled us with a tasty cake and ball for our doggie! The surrounding area is just beautiful with lots of lovely local and nearby walks (including one to the source of the Severn) Would highly recommend!

  • We had a great four days in Wales. The cottage is perfect highlights are hidden garden with view, woodburner for when the weather kicks in, roll top bath, beautifully furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The kitchen in particular had everything so that cooking in the evening was a pleasure. Overall a great feel to the place and lovely outlook Llanidloes is a fantastic town with local food products. The walks from the nearby reservoirs and the scenery in general is stunning. A hidden gem beautifully presented by a fantastic and helpful host in Lisa and yes we had a cake too. Go and enjoy it for yourself!

    Response from Lisa:

Hi Fiona, If you could give me the links to your Swis and French places, I'd be interested to look. We had a great time in Les Contamines this year. We never go back to places particularly so to find somewhere new would be great for the future. Lisa

  • Lovely cottage with a fantastic host! Lisa was so friendly, like an old family friend, and the cake she made us was delicious! We instatntly felt relaxed and at home upon entering the cottage. The cottage itself was done up to a high spec with the roll top bath being one of our most loved features. Lisa had gone out of her way to find stuff for us to do during our stay and even showed us excellent walks we could enjoy with our dog. I would most definitely stay here again and highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Lisa's Dan Y Coed Welsh Holiday Cottage for 2 nights and had a great time. We were treated to a huge home made lemon cake and cup tea on our arrival and a very interested chat about the local area from Lisa's dad David.

Having only booked less than 24 hours before arriving it was no trouble and we were met and show around the property. Amazing experience.

    Thank you

  • We had a great stay in Dan Y Coed. Lisa was a great host and welcomed us into her cottage with a cup of tea by the open fire. The communication before and during our stay was perfect and Lisa made lots of good suggestions for things to do in the surrounding area. Dan Y Coed was the perfect spot for a nice relaxing holiday in Wales.

I live with my husband and sons in Llanidloes. We love the countryside around us, spending time walking in hills, mountains, valleys and woodlands of this area. Llanidloes is a quiet, friendly town making it a perfect escape from hustle and bustle of bigger cities. We wanted to run a holiday let to encourage visitors to this special place. We're off the beaten track and our little town welcomes and needs the support of visitors. We like camping, cycling, walking and are lucky to live somewhere which provides opportunities for these things. We love to travel and have just had a really fabulous time in Botswana, experiencing "the wild" in the Otovanga Delta. We always enjoy the kindness of strangers when we travel and hope to emulate this to our guests at Dan y Coed. I work part time at my local primary school, teaching Reception children. Darrin is a geologist, working either from home or offshore. Our eldest son Tom is working towards GCSE's and William is in Primary School. Both keep us busy with Cubs, Explorer Scouts, music (violin, guitar) and football. Cleaning at Dan Y Coed is the perfect escape from a busy home. The cottage has such a calm atmosphere and sense of history. Enjoying the handcrafted authentic features of the property while cleaning is actually, quite a tonic! Hope you enjoy it too.....
