Interaction with Guests
I always meet guests with a tour of the cottage and a cuppa on arrival. On finding out guests interests, I tailor ideas on where they may like to spend time during their stay. I provide detailed information and OS maps for guests to use during their stay. It's over to guests then, to enjoy a private time together. I'm 5 minutes down the road and just a call away, if any help is needed. Usually visitors enjoy the time to themselves and simply pop the key in the box as they leave.
With a clear sky, night times are a joy to behold at Dan Y Coed. A myriad of stars shine splendidly from our rooftop garden. The walking in this area is always inspiring whatever the season or weather. Our cottage reflects our love of nature and timelessness. Llanidloes is a delightful town, full of friendly people and quirky happenings.
Our nearest train station is 6 miles away. I'm happy to collect and return guests to the station free of charge. We have a daily National Express bus which runs to and from London, 7 days a week. Local buses are also available. If you ask, I can lend you a bike!
Other Things to Note
We do our best to be eco friendly. We have recycling, wood burning stove and central heating, a wildlife friendly garden with bird boxes. We provide free car park passes for local attractions. All the OS maps for our area are in the cottage for use so you can make the most of your visit with the least expense.
Please respect the age of this property. many features are original and have been restored. We love it and hope that you do. Please leave it as you find it seems the best rule. New carpets upstairs mean indoor shoes only upstairs.
Be aware the pathway to the garden is steep and the age of the property means the cottage is cosy rather than spacious. We think a garden with a rooftop view is a selling point!
Pets, if well behaved, are allowed. However, we ask that they stay downstairs only and do not go on the furniture. Thank you.
We have been staying 4 adults in Dan Y Coed for one week, and we can absolutly recommend this charming house to anyone who wants to stay in Mid-Wales.
The house is well equipped and has a lovely garden with a fine view. We liked the idea of heating the house using the fireplace.
we got a warm welcom from Lisa with wine, fruit and cake and a throughout introduction to both the house, the town and the surrounding area.
Lisa provided fine maps and showed us where to go for walks and where to bike. Everything within half an hour from the house.
We enjoyed all the trips ind the beautiful countryside and 4 days with fine spring-weather.
Dan Y Coed and Lisa absolutly deserves four stars!
We had a wonderful stay at Dan y Coed. Lisa was very welcoming and accommodating, letting us drop bags off before the usual check in time and left us milk and cake which was lovely. The cottage had everything we needed and once the heating got going was very cosy. The location was ideal and upon Lisa's recommendations explored quite a bit nearby. We would definitely stay again!
Really enjoyed our stay. Lisa was very welcoming and helpful when we arrived. Cottage is lovely and well equipped and warm. Lovely location.
Lisa made us very welcome. The cottage is absolutely lovely and very clean. It was perfect. We will definitely be visiting again.
This is a perfect cottage! It is cosy but has plenty of space to eat, sit snd sleep. The heated bathroom floor is a touch of luxury and it is very well equipped for a relaxing stay in rural Wales. Lisa is a very welcoming host and happy to help with anything but equally happy to leave you to explore for yourself if that's what you prefer. The log fire on cold evenings was my highlight! I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
We had a lovely time at Dan Y Coed. Lisa was very welcoming and gave us some good ideas for walks and visits in the area plus a yummy cake! The cottage is well equipped and really cosy.
This part of Wales is a well kept secret - the scenery is beautiful and it feels uncrowded despite the fact that it is very accessible.
All in all a great stay.
We have just had a lovely 4 night stay at Dan Y Coed in the pretty town of Llanidloes. Lisa was very helpful providing prompt answers to all my questions before our stay. She as there to meet us, with tea and cake! To be honest the house is so well equipped and there is plenty of literature re. the house and local area, it was lovely to meet Lisa but we certainly would not have been in any difficulties had she not been available. The cottage was comfy and plenty big enough for 4 plus one dog, he especially enjoyed nights in front of the log burner. Some properties we have stayed in previously have not been what I would consider good all year options, either nice garden and not such nice interior or vice versa. Lisa has created a property I would visit and recommend for any time of year, really good standard. Location wise was good for us, just on the edge of town, just a 10 minute walk away which we enjoyed. We love the area, great walking with the hills, Wye and Severn river all so close. Would recommend the Red Kite feeding at Gigrin Farm in Rhyader each afternoon.
I live with my husband and sons in Llanidloes. We love the countryside around us, spending time walking in hills, mountains, valleys and woodlands of this area. Llanidloes is a quiet, friendly town making it a perfect escape from hustle and bustle of bigger cities.
We wanted to run a holiday let to encourage visitors to this special place. We're off the beaten track and our little town welcomes and needs the support of visitors.
We like camping, cycling, walking and are lucky to live somewhere which provides opportunities for these things. We love to travel and have just had a really fabulous time in Botswana, experiencing "the wild" in the Otovanga Delta. We always enjoy the kindness of strangers when we travel and hope to emulate this to our guests at Dan y Coed.
I work part time at my local primary school, teaching Reception children. Darrin is a geologist, working either from home or offshore. Our eldest son Tom is working towards GCSE's and William is in Primary School. Both keep us busy with Cubs, Explorer Scouts, music (violin, guitar) and football. Cleaning at Dan Y Coed is the perfect escape from a busy home. The cottage has such a calm atmosphere and sense of history. Enjoying the handcrafted authentic features of the property while cleaning is actually, quite a tonic! Hope you enjoy it too.....
