  • I was a little turned off by the neighborhood initially, but soon discovered it's really not that bad. I never felt unsafe, even walking alone at 2AM - there are always lots of people around.

As to the place itself, it's very well-kept and very nice overall. Marylyn was very accommodating and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Brooklyn.

One minor note - the airbnb posting mentions access to a kitchen, but it's actually only for coffee/cereal, so don't expect to be able to cook here.

  • I had a really good time here. Marylyn and Lloyd are lovely, warm people and their home is perfectly nice and very well-kept, with everything one might need. The room was clean, as was the bathroom and kitchen. Also, their neighbourhood is really nice and not at all scary, as some people seem to think. I very much enjoyed my stay there and am looking forward to come back again in the future. I'd recommend this place to anyone! Thank you again.

  • Staying with Marylyn was superb. She is gentle, neat and responsible. Her house is a real home. Family's warm is everywhere. This is a great bargain is you come without a car. Moving the car due to cleaning the streets is a task. We will come again without my car. 100% recommended. Thank you Marylyn for your kindness and hospitality.

  • I texted Marilyn twice before I arrived but got not response. WhenI did turn up I was waiting on the stoop for a while before Lloyd turned up. Not a good start...
As it turns out Lloyd and Maryln are very nice people.

However, I can't say that I felt safe in the neighbourhood as a single female traveller. On two of the nights I came back - there were police and ambulances at the train (email hidden)is is not reflection ont he hosts.. just the area.
The best part of this stay was that it was very close to the A & C train lines - very convenient.
Room was good, nice touch with the fridge and waterbottles provided. Wifi was a bit iffy.. drops in an out a lot.

  • I only stayed for 3 nights. I arrived late at night but the host stayed up to greet me at the door and still proceeded to give me a tour of the house and explain to me how to get around town.

The location is pretty good - maybe 2 minutes walk from Nostrand station, where even express trains stop. It took about half an hour to get to the city center and trains were quite frequent. Like the other reviews say, the neighbourhood might look a little unsafe at first, but rest assured, it's very safe. I was out until late at night almost every night and never felt unsafe walking back.

The room was as advertised (although the lighting isn't as pretty as the pictures) and towels, drinking water and various toiletries were provided. The house is a beautiful and very well furnished old house, but this also means there's some creaking when walking in certain areas. They keep the house impeccably clean.

Unfortunately I didn't spend much time chatting with the hosts due to my busy schedule, but they did seem like nice people too.

  • This old brownstone building was very well maintained. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a nice flat screen TV and a Frig. The bathroom, which was downstairs from our room was clean and modern. While perhaps a little small it save us $100 a night. Host was very personable and helpful. We'll be back!!!

  • Marylyn and LLoyd were the most helpful, friendly and accommodating hosts I could ever have hoped for.
Thank you both for making my stay in New York so enjoyable.

  • I just needed some place to stay and that perfectly fitted my needs. The big plus is that subway station is just 2 mins away walking, which is great! Approx. 15-20 mins travel time to lower Manhattan by subway. Room size was good enough for me (I was staying alone).

Wi-fi, TV, Refrigerator and fan is in the room. Neighborhood is good, I haven't had any issues there.

So, I think it's a great place to stay!
