We are a couple in our 70's, transplants from Brooklyn, he a retired architect, she a retired city planner. Sometimes present at our home also are our grown children, grandkids and our daughter's large, old and gentle Newfoundland dog, Tucker. But, more likely, it would just be the two of us.

Guests have access to public areas of the house: kitchen, breakfast room and living room. Also yard with deck suitable for lounging or dining.
Interaction with Guests
One of the pleasures of hosting guests is getting to know them. We are open to sharing time with guests over breakfast, which is provided. We also know that some folks prefer their privacy at this time. We enjoy providing information about things to see and do etc. in the area.
We are located along the southern shore of RI, near the University of RI, a few minutes to public beaches, 25 minutes to Newport, 45 minutes to Providence.
The village of Wakefield is 1.5 miles away with restaurants, shopping, and a 7-miles paved bike path. Beaches are a short bike ride away or 4 minutes by car.
We are located outside of the village of Wakefield (parking on site) and unfortunately, there is not direct link to public transportation. There is a public bus to Providence from Wakefield and we might be able to shuttle you to it if our schedule allows. RI buses have bike racks. Kingston Train station (Amtrak) is 18 minutes by car. Greene Airport serving RI is 35 minutes by car. Boston's Logan airport is an hour and 45 minutes by car and it is possible to get to the Kingston RI Amtrak station by using the Silver Line bus from Logan to South Station. Taxi service from Kingston Station to our house should be set up in advance. Wright's Taxi number is (phone number hidden).
No smoking in house. Pets may be considered-we should discuss this first.
We had a delightful week-long stay at Karen and Bob's. It was quiet and peaceful, yet still close to town. We loved having breakfast on the deck and listening to the birds and windchimes. The room was exactly as pictured, and was cozy and comfortable. Their home has very good energy and we felt at ease immediately. If you love staying in the country, this is the perfect farmhouse for you!
We had a lovely time while staying with Karen and Bob and their family. The location was perfect - close to beaches, bike trails, parks, restaurants, Theatre by the Sea, and the Block Island Ferry in Point Judith. Our room was very comfortable and looked just like the pictures. Tucker, the family dog, made us feel quite welcome (as did the rest of the family). We hope to come back same time next year! I highly recommend this Country Home surrounded by Gardens in Wakefield, RI!
Cool old New England property in 100% idyllic setting. Amazing old Newfoundland dog the size of a pony is one of the residents! Room smells slightly like this dog but is quite private at the top of a spiral staircase and has an attached bathroom. Karen made some killer french toast with rhubarb in the morning. Add sugar if it's sour. If your itinerary is subject to change, electronic communication may be iffy; recommend calling landline in that case rather than texting or emailing. Convenient to Narragansett. All in all a great value for the area. Watch for cops if you're out late driving.
Karen was a wonderful host and her home is lovely. It was so nice to stay close to the wedding venue. It would be a delight to stay again.
We had a lovely night's stay at Karen and Bob's home last week. Though our visit was quite short (we had a very early ferry to catch), Karen showed us around their beautiful home and we felt most welcome. The description of their accommodation is accurate; we recommend it as a very comfortable and quiet place to stay.
From our arrival to our departure, Karen & Bob made us feel welcome. Their home is lovely and unique and our room was very comfortable. They are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. We will look them up again the next time we're in the area.
Karen and Bob were wonderful hosts. They gave us valuable information about the area. We also had several great conversations. The accommodations were perfect for us. Even with the extreme heat of New England during out stay, our room had a pleasant and cooling breeze at all times. We had no problem sleeping at night. We had two delicious and healthy breakfasts before we headed out on our adventures. Their gardens were lovely. We wish we had more time to spend in them. Overall our visit was great. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to explore another part of Rhode Island. We would highly recommend this location.
