Dear Anwar, We regret that your stay wasn't up to the level of excellence that we aspire for. Making sure our home exceeds our guest's expectations is what has helped us obtain Airbnb's superhost status while often welcoming repeat stays. We've been able to do so by publishing a very detailed house manual, and as both an Airbnb Host and Guest, I am appreciative of reviews that add transparency regarding the accommodations. However, to make sure that future guests get an accurate sense of what our home offers, I think it is important to clear up the three areas of concern you note in your review: 1. Guests CAN open windows: While Miami is usually quite warm, in the winter some guests want to open the windows so they can make the most of the cool breeze. In these situations, we only ask that they shut off the A/C while the windows are open. Otherwise the A/C can actually freeze, and it takes at least 24 hours for the repair crew to arrive which can be unbearable. Therefore, we include guidelines in the manual and printed on the window sills as well. 2. Guests CAN use the A/C: Miami was settled in large part thanks to the availability of A/C units, and our home has a central A/C that guests can adjust to make sure they are comfortable. However, if there are various guests staying in our home, we only ask that they come to an agreement regarding what temperature to set the A/C at and we're happy to help our guests come to a compromise that works. 3. The third bed is publicly listed as a FLOOR MATTRESS: Since some of our guests travel with a child, we started to get requests for a floor mattress they could use instead of reserving a separate room. As a result, we have included such a floor mattress, and the Airbnb listing actually reads: "2 single beds, 1 floor mattress". One important dynamic to note is that communication is crucial for both Airbnb guests and hosts. I hope that in future stays you make a greater effort to communicate any issues you may be facing during your stay. We corresponded various times upon your arrival and before your departure, and none of these issues were communicated. In addition, it's important for a host to know if a guest has a special request that needs to be accommodated. In this case, since there were other guests in our home, it may not have made sense for you to stay there. Since our guests share a central A/C unit, finding a temperature that works for everyone might be a challenge and I would have recommended you seek out one of Airbnb's "Entire Home" listings. The heat in Miami is one of the city's defining characteristics but one that we've addressed through central A/C and a sensible window policy. In addition, the other guests who overlapped with your stay have communicated that they were comfortable during the dates you were there. Since I worked with Airbnb to accept your reservation at the last possible moment, you may not have had the chance to read through the house manual and quickly find the solutions you were seeking. Therefore, while we regret you were uncomfortable, we cannot agree with how your review describes our home. In sum, since every home on the Airbnb is different, I am always happy to help my guests find their way and identify a solution that works for them. As you note in your review, I do everything I can to communicate quickly and clearly. Using that approach, we strive to live up to what we offer via Airbnb and we hope our future guests continue to have experiences that meet or exceed their expectations.
