  • Michael's place is fantastic. The house itself is quite elegant, spacious, and laid-out for travelers to unwind and relax. My room - the Blue Room - had a small balcony with a great view of downtown San Diego and the bay. The place was very clean and well kept. It's conveniently located directly between the downtown district and Balboa Park, which meant that I could walk most places or easily catch a train to destinations further away. Overall, I had an absolutely great stay and would highly recommend Michael's place to anyone.

  • Our stay was great. The house was in a great location to visit San Diego, and even though it is very close to the airport, you hardly hear the planes at night, thanks to the double glazed windows. The room was spacious and clean, with a bathroom right next door and a nice balcony. We onlu met Eric and he was really kind and nice: we were able to leave our luggage in the living room and come back later to pick it up and have a shower before leaving, even though we had already checked out.

  • Staying here was my first experience with Airbnb and it was awesome. The room was exactly as described and I loved having the private deck off the room with a lounge chair to just relax and look out at downtown and the ocean. Due to it's central location to Balboa Park, the Zoo, Downtown, Little Italy and more I wasn't actually here much but was out exploring the city. The house seemed full when I was there but it still felt like I had the entire place to myself. Everyone was friendly, including Eric the "house manager" (I think). Hopefully the gnome finally arrived and it's enjoying the garden!

  • My son and I had a wonderful stay in this lovely house - we stayed in 3 of the rooms (blue, lavender, private bay/private bath) over the course of a week. All the rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen/lounge areas well equipped, with unlimited coffee for guests. We could get to the park, zoo, downtown, or convention centre within 25-30min walk. The house itself is characterful and quirky - much nicer than an anonymous hotel room! - and we were very grateful for the lovely welcome, hospitality and advice from Eric the house manager. Highly recommended - we would definitely stay here again.

  • After motel hopping for too long it was nice to stay in this gorgeous house. Great atmosphere to relax.

  • Eric was a great host. The room was clean and the bed was really comfy. Can't beat the view! I was born with the sound of jet airplanes in my ears at NAS Lemoore, so the airliners on final approach made for some nostalgia. Good thing for the double windows. Flights seemed to stop by at least 10pm and didn't pick up again until 7 or 8am. The only drawback was that the bikes advertised were rusted and in bad shape. Not rideable.

  • Eric and Needa (sp?) were both friendly and very helpful. They even ran around with us on the corner of the block trying to flag down a taxi when ours was late!

The place is very close to the airport, meaning airplanes fly very low overhead. It takes some getting used to, but we never had trouble sleeping at night.

Unfortunately upon arrival we did not get the room that we booked due to some confusion or mis-communication. The day we left I heard Eric have to explain a similar room change to guests that were just arriving. I understand plans change sometimes but perhaps more consideration should be given to making sure there aren't double bookings happening.

Bathrooms were difficult to access at peak times. The two downstairs are on either side of a little living room, which can be awkward, and there's only one upstairs. Multiple times we tried to get a shower or use the bathroom only to find all the bathrooms occupied. Guess it's a busy place!

All in all, we would stay again, and can't say enough that the staff does an excellent job. Eric in particular is friendly and warm, and makes a very welcoming environment.

  • Stayed for Valentines Day with my girlfriend. What a wonderful place! You could tell the owners really care about creating an experience for their guests. View of downtown and the water from your balcony. Amazing Zen backyard with hot tub. Bed was super comfy. Parking wasn't a nightmare. Lots of furniture pieces and gadgets to ogle at. The attention to detail was amazing. Thanks for a great experience. You must come here!

  • Well I didn't get to meet Michael because he's out of the state, but his house manager, Eric, was a great host. The home is literally an oasis! It's beautifully decorated, feels comfy and cozy throughout, the view is AMAZING, right near the airport (maybe a $12 taxi ride), and the vibe of the energy is positive and friendly.

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights, and it would've been 3 if the Atlanta snow storm didn't cancel our flight! Eric stayed in constant communication with me and was always available for questions. There is a fully stocked kitchen if you want to eat in, a lovely jacuzzi (that we didn't get to try out) and several outdoor seating spots to get your zen on.

We stayed in the blue room. Our view was breathtaking! And the BED - can you say comfort with a capital C!!

Can't go wrong staying here. It's everything you'll need - comfort, convenience, affordability. Check, check, check!

  • Spent 4 nights in San Diego . . our final destination after a 2 week road trip down the Cali Coast. I sprained my ankle in Big Sur and reached out to Michael to see if he had a room with less stairs for me to use and his communication was prompt and Eric reached out to me and told me they could accommodate me in a room in the garden. It was PERFECT! I loved everything about this house, Eric the house manager gave us an excellent tour and told me to heal my ankle and that's exactly what I did. They have coffee for you in the morning . . loved having my coffee on the top deck overlooking the Bay. The jacuzzi was a nice touch. I treated myself to a bubble bath every morning in the beautiful tub. Had wine over the fire pit almost every evening. The guests in the house were kind and respectful. I cannot wait to come back! Thank you for 5 days of pure relaxation! We loved the planes too . . we even made a drinking game out of it called "name the airline . . " Special house. Special host. Special memories! Thank you!
