My husband and I just had wonderful weekend in Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley. And Anja and Sandy's lovely guest house played a big part of it.
We arrived quite late on Friday night, nearly 11pm, but Sandy was waiting for us to show us the place and various amenities. The place was comfortable, clean and pleasant, exactly like how the photos online showed if not better. The kitchen had everything we needed, and having a refrigerator was great to keep the bottled water, beer, fruits and food we brought. There are two separate AC unites, one in the living room and one in the bedroom to keep us comfortable in the summer desert heat. And the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were spotless and we appreciate the towels and robes.
There were other thoughtful touches around the place, like a flashlight when you need to go outside to get something from the car, menus of local restaurants and other brochures/booklets about local attractions. Throughout our two-day stay, we stopped by to chat with Anja and Sandy and they were super sweet.
Even during the booking process and before our trip, Anja was also very quick responding to our emails, checking with us to see if we had special requests and reminding us of things to bring for the desert heat.
The location is also fairly easy to find off the main freeway 62, unlike some other places that are truly in the middle of the desert where our Prius had a hard time negotiating bumping, unpaved dirt roads. But there are plenty of wildlife and desert scenery around to make it an unique desert experience.
We highly recommend this guest house for anyone looking for a comfortable stay in this area. In fact, we can't wait to come back again later this summer when we come back for a show at Pappy&Harriet's.
Our hosts were so friendly and helpful in recommending local spots to go around town. Their place is the best we've stayed with Airbnb and we would definitely stay there again! It is immaculate and perfectly laid out for our family of four. It has everything you could think of wanting available. We loved seeing all the wildlife they attract in their amazing desert yard. Doves were nesting in a nearby tree, hummingbirds fed outside our door, jackrabbits ran through the yard and unique desert birds flitted about. There was a guide to dessert wildlife in the place and we had fun identifying what we saw. It is like you have your own house with private parking and a great patio to sit on and observe the stars.
This is my second time staying at Sandy and Anja's cottage. The place has had several upgrades since the last time I was there: a full fridge, a microwave, and a new shower! The place was clean and safe and the hosts are so helpful and kind. They provided clean towels and linens as well. This is my go to spot when I make a trip to Joshua Tree! I can't wait to come back!
Whether this is your first time visiting the Yucca Valley, or it is your tenth visit to the area, I highly recommend that you dat with Anja and Sandy. They are so warm and welcoming, and their private cottage was perfect for our 3 day visit to the area. They greeted us with warm smiles and provided us with some brief and very helpful information about local restaurants and routes in to Joshua Tree. Although it was very hot temperatures during our visit, their place was kept so cool and inviting. I can't wait to come back and visit the area, and I know they will definitely be a place I look forward to staying again! Thank you again Anja and Sandy for everything. We had a blast, and we appreciate your hospitality and generosity.
The perfect base for exploring Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. Everything is spotless, colorful and comfortable. I highly recommend this little gem for a couple or small family.
Anja and Sandy are awesome hosts, and their place is amazing. We had a great time and will definitely stay here every time we visit the area. The house is cute, clean and amazingly comfortable. We had an awesome trip!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anja and Sandy's cottage in Yucca Valley. We knew we wanted a place to spread out and relax at the end of the day and their spacious, whimsical guesthouse fit the bill perfectly. It was not only a casual, comfortable space but very well-appointed: the brand-new bathroom was beautiful, the kitchen had every conceivable item (including a gas range!) and on those random nights in the desert when you do need warming up, the heat kicks on without a hitch. We didn't see our hosts much as we were out most of the day but they were as kind and helpful and thorough as could be. A real gem of a place to stay.
Anja and Sandy were so responsive, informative and helpful prior to my arrival. Despite my late arrival, Sandy welcomed me and walked me through the house logistics and told me that Anja wanted to meet me the following morning. I did stopped by and received a warm welcome. They were so kind and I felt well protected being alone there. The place... oh, it was more than I could I ask for a hiker. Quiet, clean, cozy, cute and so at home. Far away from all those nonsense (email hidden). I wished I could have spent more time there. I was mostly out and just get back late to sleep. But still felt so at home, and looking forward to coming HOME. I consider well-travelled. Palm Springs is a great destination for a nature explorer. And their home is a place to be.
The cottage was all we could have hoped for. Felt absolutely at home from the moment we arrived. Could not think of anything that we would have missed. We would return anytime and recommend staying here.
Our hosts were lovely and informative and so welcoming.
Staying at Anjia's cottage was great. The place is clean, cozy and felt just like home. Anjia and her husband are very nice and caring hosts, and the layout of the property allows for privacy as well as not feeling too isolated. I rented the property for my parents, and they never go to a less than 4 star hotel, so they were kind of skeptical at the beginning; they ended up loving the homey feeling and the graciousness of our hosts. Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to stay near everything in Joshua Tree area.
